Truly fantastic trailer, but unfortunately without sound. Is there any way, or anywhere, that you could re-post without fear of copyright laws and regulations squashing this beautiful piece of art you've created?
Great job! This is one of the top 10 greatest films ever made. I would LOVE for this film to be released on Blu-ray (this is one of the most beautiful films of all time). I am glad that Paramount released it on DVD, but I always felt that the print was faded and way too soft. I would probably cry if Criterion got the rights to this masterpiece. That transfer would be ace. The fans of this film should write to Paramount (they own the rights) and ask for a Blu-ray release. Also write to Criterion.
Awesome, great use of music all around. Sibony actually works really well mostly because Connie Francis works really well, that specific song belong to women of cinema as far as I'm concerned. Great editing of course, the volume is off, but don't sweat it. It's visually cut well. Your choices were good all around. At this point there have also been so many movie montages showing the murder I wouldn't really sweat that either. Besides the real spoiler is the end, so....(bow)
Brilliant job Ruby! And my favourite film of all time. Upon my death I want a nurse to accompany me to a theatre that I will rent to watch this film! No audience besides this nurse! It took my breath away when I saw this film when I was just 17 at an old cinema revue. Took my breath away! Domonique Sanda. The woods. That chase! And when the assassin threw the gun to the other. Again. Brilliant job
@RubyTuesday717 Agreed 100% RubyTuesday, both films are masterpieces, and come from two of the greatest minds ever to bring film to the world. Both of them would be absolutely proud of this masterful trailer, for a movie that I think ANYONE who wants to get into film needs to see. Wong Kar Wai was clearly a huge fan of Bertolucci, it shows in his films, and I think that the blending was perfect.
@RubyTuesday717 I have to somewhat agree with KaiChippi, just because I'm not a fan of trailers that are cut with music that isn't used in the film...especially if I already associate the score with another film, or if it is noticeably anachronistic. Otherwise this is a terrific trailer! Very, very well done!
*Spoilers Ahead!* My only quibble (besides the music) is that it might give a bit too much away in regards to the murder. I don't want 1st time viewers to miss out on the tension!
Film visto e rivisto, un capolavoro che rivedrei altre 1000 volte... Bel trailer, mi è venuta voglia di rivederlo... stasera nn ho niente da fare, quindi... ;)
@vicepresidentfru1tly I'm so happy I could turn someone onto THE CONFORMIST! Or at the very least, my trailer will have been better than the film in your opinion.
Let me know what you think of it, I hope you enjoy it.
Amazing trailer for an amazing film. Bertolucci is a genius and the women are indeed jaw-dropping beautiful. The english dubbing doesn't really fit all that well, though.
@SeMaCoPo I know, I would've done it in Italian but it would've surely made my head explode. And the dubbing is in synch with how it really was on the DVD.
RubyTuesday, very beautiful job you've done. Your trailer is truely a little movie all by itself. Saw Conformist when I was so so young & struggling in high school that I felt the movie story depressing and could not really appreciate the visual art back then. Now because of your trailer, will revisit Confirmist ! Thank you.
What can I say, another fine job...The Conformist is gorgeously filmed and you've shown that off here. I love that you have a great feel for the music as well (never mind those pesky volume levels!).
@mrsphoenix85 Thank you, it means I've done my job! It's a powerful movie about a man's existential crisis when he joins the Fascists in Italy and must commit an incredible act of betrayal. The cinematography is spectacular and it's a philosophical feast for the mind. Plus, Dominique Sanda is the most beautiful woman most people have never seen.
Yeah bummer about the video. This was great with the audio.

What is the music in the beginning? I desparately need to listen to the full version - it's inspiring and magnificent!

Fantastic trailer!! I love that music from The Fountain. I haven't seen The Conformist in years but now I can't wait to check it out again.

The Conformist is an “ opposite Catharsis “ . An individual who feels abnormal. Unable to feel, love or live his own reality.

that siboney song is just ridiculous... you can't blend Wong Kar-Wai and Bertolluci like that
KaiChippi 1 year ago
@KaiChippi I just did. Wong Kar Wai used it to celebrate a beautiful woman in 2046, why shouldn't I?
