@1911caleb no kick pedal comes with it - u need to buyt your own kick pedal separately. and no dont get the sd9k get a roland kit. sd9k has many problems - multiple people will echo what i say.
i see this was made a while ago, I've read a lot of people saying that their kit has worn down from only a few weeks/months of playing. I've been considering getting one, has yours had any problems since you've bought it?
I use this and have replaced each of the cymbols 3 times now. They get stress fractures underneath and then before long, they die. The drum pads are decent. I would probably save the money and buy Rolands before I buy this kit.
Not bad, but not a 'real' Simmons kit. The original Simmons were made in the U.K in the eighties and early nineties, were analogue, had hexagonal pads and were ground braking at the time. They shut down in 1994 I think, and an American company bought the name only. The Simmons SDX would wipe the floor with this kit I'm afraid, just a shame only 250 were made :(
it looks nice...i was on a budget so got the sd5k...now will this module work with the 5k? and then i can just replace the pads with these later instead of all at once...dont have the money so i just want to basicly do it piece by peice since i have a stand and pads right now... plz reply
I love reading comments from folks who don't have a clue....most every "demo" of these electronic sets are captured by the camera mic, not ideal. Look for 7 Ball Music's demo of the DD502MKII on You Tube. They did it right by recording the output into a real DAW, so you can hear how these cheap Medeli made drums sound.....
Great kit but Simmons support SUCKS! My kit has been down for a month without a bass drum. NOT A SINGLE RESPONSE FROM SIMMONS! Guitar center can't help either.
it's been a year, so can u make a new video, especially about how long the pads/cymbals last, and how long will the drum set work until major mistriggering happens?
Roland,Yamaha... The point is, the more cometition the more affordable the kits will become. Roland kits are too damn expensive. Simmons are just fine for the price. Enjoy your new kit.
im gettin an awesome elecric kit for just 350.. these things are very convenient.. practice late at night ... jam/practice with the band at comfortable volume.. but i dont think i would ever use it at a gig thats for sure
thanks for the quick response, awesome, i have no idea what my living situation is going to be the next bit so its prob the best bet, could even rig something up to make the stick hitting the pad noiseless =p might be a bit excessive though
don't know anything about electric kits, but im interested in getting one for practice, can you set it up to be noiseless to others in the house and so all the sound comes through the headphones?
yes the only sound they will be able to hear is u hitting the pads which isnt to loud lol. if you live with more than 4 people its just better than acoustic not so much sound. and good for appartments.
Hey, I'm not familiar with Electric Drums, ad I'm looking for a set for our Church youth room, should we be able to hook these up to our mixer and have our drummer use headphones?
are you high?!?...... whats the matter with you , theres an electric set right there in the video!!!.. plus i play one at my church band... and if its "fake" then why would he go through all that trouble to make it out of plastic and make the drumheads too
you can plug headphones into this kit and it still sounds great. i just bought this kit at guitar center today and it sounds amazing. i have been playing it for the last 4 hours :D
electronic kits just dont feel the same as playing a real kit. Just the way it feels when you hit the heads, especially the cymbals (I dont think id be able to live without my cymbals.) nobody waste ur money on this kit..it sucks...get the yamaha dtxtreme 3 i know it's more money but trust me it's way better it has 3 zone pads and the cymblas r 3 zone 2 also u can tune ur toms and snare ...it's also really good cuz the bass drum is beefy so it doesn't move around at all and all there kits and sounds r way better...also the hi-hat is way more realistic....trust me i know it is more money but u will be way more satisfied with the dtxtreme special kit
Hello i really need ur help i wanna buy it but when i search for it it says second bass sells seperatly and i dont know where to buy it i search for it and i looked down the whole side please help me mate!! thanks alot for ur video
this also looks like it has an extra crash too as well as a tum. but a 4 piece is all you really need. with the sd7k you can not add more to it. you can upgrade the brain later on. might beable to add stuff but have to use a splitter so what you add would be the same sound as something else. maybe another tum with the bass so you have a bass when you hit with a stick as well. but yeah you can upgrade later if this set is 1000 dollars and the brain is 300 later you spend 300 for brain
then you would have to by a stand as well to mount it and again the brain does not have anymore slots. so if you wanted that extra crash or ride cymbol which i would go crash you would probably have to split it with the other crash and they both would be the same sound. but some ppl like to have 2 and would not care. my advice is if you have the money go for the 9k. which is a 1000 dollars so 400 more. or just by this set and b some parts of a acoustic and combine.
when i take my set to church i will use the hi hat from church and make that one into a closed hi hat or open and make mine a closed that way i dont have to worry about my foot on it lol. i will also use the snare drum from church and turn my snare either into a different snare drum sound or into another tum. and then i will take one our the crash cymbols and use that. best part is accoustic stuff is cheap to get too. 100 buck you can get a snare drum. i mean 400 to 500 you can get a 5 piec
400 to 500 you can get a 4 or 5 piece accoustic set from guitar center anyways useally a bass, snare, 3 tums, so. again your all. i would probably if i had the money get the 7k and then buy a couple accousitc parts. and when i practice i can go back to the snare that is on it and use the set that way. and when i play bring out the accoustice parts. remember you can save 30 drum sounds. so you can make your snare into a tum or whatever you want and when you play with your snare change set
I guess I'd have to have the acoustic cymbals... Even though they're loud as shit... won't it sound different and weird though that one would be coming through the speaker and one won't?
its not that bad actually. especially since my church the speakers are all up front. just gives it a unique sound. i have seen other do it and it sounds like it is all one set. an accoustic set can be heard pretty good. and if you are just using like the snare drum then it wont really be to bad.
that is what i am saying this is perfect just saying later on that is one way to expand it later on. plus you can get things to put over your snare and toms to reduce sound. but to practice the electric kit is good and quiet and not hard when want to play loud to put the snare in the middle and use a real snare drum. like when i practice at home i use my kit. when i go to church and take it i just use the snare and cymbols if i take my kit with me.
i live in an apartment. i was thinking of this kit but my cousin said the experience is no way as realistic as an acoustic kit. but an acoustic kit is not ideal for an apartment. wat you recommend to me?
Acoustic kits are more fun to play, sound more real (obviously), and are waaaay better if you tour. Downsides, you have the cost of changing heads, its loud as fuck, you're limited to the specific drums you have, recording is way harder.
Electronics have a ton more sounds (though they often suck) durable, easy to play etc. Bad for taking on tour, great for recording IF you have a good sampler, great for practicing, and bad for feeling realistic without spending.
i actually thing the electric kit is more fun to play. the only thing i like more with a acoustic set is the snare drum. but then i have seen 6000 dollar sets for electric and they sound just like a acoustic set and even play like one. but with a electric set you are not limited to one sound from each piece. you can change up the sound on them all. most even have a preset drum kit that is a regular kit, jazz kit, rock kit etc. if you have a good headphone or a good speaker elec sounds nice
yes i do. the only differance is that this set has one more tom and one more crash. and the brain probably does a lot more then mine. the 7k is your basic 5 piece drum set with a hi hat, crash, and ride cymbol. 5 piece drum set being a bass, a snare with the rim shot, and 3 toms.
yeah that is why i went with the 7 k right now. i dont need a ton of toms lol. the 5k is what i have pretty much. just not as much to do with it as far as the brain goes. i have the updated version basically that has a little more with it and responds a little better. 9k is an update to mine and added a tom and a crash as well. plus the 5k does not do as much as mine as far as pluging a mp3 player into it and all
hey, they are really cool and fun to play but nothing beats the feeling of an acoustic kit but the good think about electric is u can play whenever u want with headfones and u wont annoy any1
I play on both. Electrics are cool, I'd use them mainly for practise and , if you're in a band, then b/c you can adjust the volume to suit how well you can hear the others.depending on the settings and stuff you get with it. Nothing beats an acoustic kit though.
In my opinion, electric drums are limited in pads but can produce more sounds than an Acoustic kit. Also, its a lot quieter, you can put headphones on with it, and you cann play RB and GHWT with it

Yeah... that what really sucks..
.
There's no Chinese Cymbal, Splash Cymbal... etc.
I guess I'd have to have the acoustic cymbals... Even though they're loud as shit... won't it sound different and weird though that one would be coming through the speaker and one won't?
XmetalmikeXx 2 years ago
its not that bad actually. especially since my church the speakers are all up front. just gives it a unique sound. i have seen other do it and it sounds like it is all one set. an accoustic set can be heard pretty good. and if you are just using like the snare drum then it wont really be to bad.
dannamanna99 2 years ago
Yeah but the thing is, I want an electric set to reduce sound... I just moved into an apartment.
The quietest things are pretty much the cymbals................ So I'd probably use the acoustic cymbals... Snare Drum would vibrate the floor
XmetalmikeXx 2 years ago
that is what i am saying this is perfect just saying later on that is one way to expand it later on. plus you can get things to put over your snare and toms to reduce sound. but to practice the electric kit is good and quiet and not hard when want to play loud to put the snare in the middle and use a real snare drum. like when i practice at home i use my kit. when i go to church and take it i just use the snare and cymbols if i take my kit with me.

i live in an apartment. i was thinking of this kit but my cousin said the experience is no way as realistic as an acoustic kit. but an acoustic kit is not ideal for an apartment. wat you recommend to me?
MoofinMann 2 years ago

billabonggable 2 years ago

dirtpipedan 2 years ago
you mean the electronic drum kit is bad or sound ??
06szymonszymanski 2 years ago
both, i would recommend even a low end roland over this
dirtpipedan 2 years ago
Depends on your goals. IMHO:
Acoustic kits are more fun to play, sound more real (obviously), and are waaaay better if you tour. Downsides, you have the cost of changing heads, its loud as fuck, you're limited to the specific drums you have, recording is way harder.
Electronics have a ton more sounds (though they often suck) durable, easy to play etc. Bad for taking on tour, great for recording IF you have a good sampler, great for practicing, and bad for feeling realistic without spending.

i actually thing the electric kit is more fun to play. the only thing i like more with a acoustic set is the snare drum. but then i have seen 6000 dollar sets for electric and they sound just like a acoustic set and even play like one. but with a electric set you are not limited to one sound from each piece. you can change up the sound on them all. most even have a preset drum kit that is a regular kit, jazz kit, rock kit etc. if you have a good headphone or a good speaker elec sounds nice
dannamanna99 2 years ago
so you use your electric set at home or church?
XmetalmikeXx 2 years ago
both. i dont use the acoustic set at home. my electric set i use at home. i have neighboors and family lol so i can put headphones on or keep it down
dannamanna99 2 years ago
yeah... but wait you have the sd7k not 9 right?
XmetalmikeXx 2 years ago
yes i do. the only differance is that this set has one more tom and one more crash. and the brain probably does a lot more then mine. the 7k is your basic 5 piece drum set with a hi hat, crash, and ride cymbol. 5 piece drum set being a bass, a snare with the rim shot, and 3 toms.
dannamanna99 2 years ago
That's enough.
Drums suppose to be just 3 toms and such...
And what is the 5k?
XmetalmikeXx 2 years ago
yeah that is why i went with the 7 k right now. i dont need a ton of toms lol. the 5k is what i have pretty much. just not as much to do with it as far as the brain goes. i have the updated version basically that has a little more with it and responds a little better. 9k is an update to mine and added a tom and a crash as well. plus the 5k does not do as much as mine as far as pluging a mp3 player into it and all
dannamanna99 2 years ago
so 7k can do more features and stuff than 5k
Thanks for the info... I really didn't know which to get, I'm probably gonna go with the 7k ... for xmas
I hope they have it on display @ Guitar center =)

i really would like to know peoples opinions on electric drum sets apposed to real ones :D the electric ones seem really cool.
MrCosteffective 2 years ago
hey, they are really cool and fun to play but nothing beats the feeling of an acoustic kit but the good think about electric is u can play whenever u want with headfones and u wont annoy any1
sidSTARSCREAMwilson 2 years ago
I play on both. Electrics are cool, I'd use them mainly for practise and , if you're in a band, then b/c you can adjust the volume to suit how well you can hear the others.depending on the settings and stuff you get with it. Nothing beats an acoustic kit though.
CurlyxxWhirly 2 years ago
In my opinion, electric drums are limited in pads but can produce more sounds than an Acoustic kit. Also, its a lot quieter, you can put headphones on with it, and you cann play RB and GHWT with it
c02dood92 2 years ago
i want this kit but i can only offord SD7K
