  • What Father is in the Orthodox Church means is Father in Christ. That's all that the reference to Father in the ecclesiastical sense means. There is no father but the Father in heaven. Therefore the usage of "Father" is the grace of God the Father through any head/bishop/priest.

  • not according to Christian theology. God the Father is the only Father!

  • You should read your Bibles more carefully:

"I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. " I Cor. 4:14,15

  • yeah, but he meant that metaphorically. It was doubtful they called Paul, "father Paul"

  • So when something doesn't go along with your theology, do you just call it "metaphorical?' How convenient. Wonder if you've ever called your dad "father."
