He did not vote for or agrees with all Ahmadinejad's policies, so his position is balanced. 2) Marandi is supporting the right to civilian nuclear tech, not weaponary. 3) Marandi is not responsible for the actions commited by other people, security officials, soldiers etc. 4) Isolation is a result of UN sanction and by U.S. policy 5) Iran did have a nascent democracy but it was overthrown in the 1950s.

He did NOT say that. What Dr Marandi actually said was 'countries which advance in the field of nuclear energy.. ... will be produce of future energy (technology) called fusion energy. So he is saying the current technology may eventually pave the way to future fusion reactors/technology, thus it's neccessary to have and progress in current nuclear technology.
