Why does it seem that Jay Graydon only let his excuisite guitar scills play crap music besides some rare moment when he played for Steely Dan.

@dogofman hey i disagree graydon plays for the song like all the best session guys be it lukather,ritenour, carlton,landau,huff or jackson .this is a cool tune with great players just enjoy it man .this aint no american idol or x factor shit!

I'm complaining only because iv'e heard only some very short snippet with him playing with Steely Dan and else only music like this. With his seemingly potential it seems to me he would certainly be or have been able to perform much better music than this kind of muzak.

But I can't find anything at all, Why is that?

i see your point i really do .the work he does with david foster and bill champlin is very melodic check out the airplay album.also christopher cross' debut album two tracks jay plays on say you'll be mine and never be the same.the manhattan transfer track twilight zone twilight tone is also worth a listen.lastly al jarreaus 1983 album which jay produces has some good melodic stuff on it too.!

And right now I don't feel I want to discuss mr Graydon any more anyway. But that may of course change in the future.

hey no problem! there is one track on al jarreau's 1984 album high crime it,s called raging waters and jay rips it up on that so i hope it gives you some encouragement. i know what you mean though he could play heavier like carlton and lukather but he likes his mellow sound!
