do i have an original thought in my head? yes and no, and only when any thought occurs to me, or when a thought doesn't...and as long as the thought is couched in "words", or when it is outside the linguistic construct...
no that would have been lame like all the other arthouse indie-shit movies.
This movie is about filmmaking and failing, so the ending in which his imaginary brother writes all these cliches that were previously bashed (deus ex machina, car chase, sex, drugs, learning profound life lessons, growing to overcome obstacles etcpp) fits the themes perfectly.
Everything else was already shown. If that movie was to continue truthfully, he would just have struggled more which would have been dull.

is Jon malkovich actually a dick that screams at people, or was that just added in to be funny?

@4ta2r I don't think he comes off as a dick at all. He's being considerate.

Such an amazing movie! I wish the ending was different but still really fantastic.

huh? the ending was full on awesome! You do know that act 3 was basically written by Donald, not Charlie Kaufman, right?

So what if it is? Even Kauffman himself said the third act is a failure
bigpunholla 2 years ago
so what? I thought it was great. How would you have ended this movie?
strappinggermanlad 2 years ago
By not putting a false action sequence right near the end of the thoughtful, brilliant, honest, human story.

I guess it's a matter of taste. I see what you're saying and agree with it to a certain extent.
