  • Those were the days. Had 'em all! :)

  • Best dolls ever made......Mego was/will always be untouchable.

  • Looks like Shazam's bolt symbol was a bit off center on his outfit!

  • Wow that was pretty surrial advertising. Hulk smashing though a sheet of paper, Spiderman sliding down a string (I used to do that with my He-Man figures, infact any figure with the right hand shape will do :) ). Then Superman joining the airforce.

  • ummm why has hulk so small

  • I named my first child MEGO

  • The mego superman I had looked like a mexican

  • 0:22 JAJAJA BATMAN CAN‘T FLY !!!

  • Awesome

  • I had every one of those action figure toys shown at one time.

  • how in the world did they get licensed to release both marvel and dc?? very unique deal there...

  • @ironman2372 Even then,it was unusual to have rival comic companies to advertise their repsective superheroes in the same commercial.

  • MEGO's demise was actually due in part to their turning down the license for Star Wars, favoring instead Star Trek: The Motionless Picture and The Black Hole, which it seemed the company was sucked into, appropriately enough. Now companies like Mattel and Biff Bang Pow! are doing new MEGOesque figures for any and all thrity and fortysomethings who never got the memo that the 1970s ended, along with childhood.

  • @epsteinsmutha1 thrity AND thirtysomethings

Memo to self: Stop typing when drinking 32 oz. iced coffee

  • @epsteinsmutha1 It's strange nobody thought to remake The Black Hole yet,of everything else they remade. The brand itself never reached its marketing potential.

  • Figures from Robot Chicken.

  • Awesome! I had Batman and the Robin one you see briefly. Thanks for uploading!

  • BONUS AIR FORCE COMMERCIAL! SCORE!

  • lol hulk is the smallest.

  • Action figures? More like bendy dolls! But I have to admit, seeing Marvel & DC together is pretty cool.

  • @WebVMan

They were not bendys, these were fully-articulated figures with cloth costumes, much like the original G.I. Joe was before they were reduced to 3 3/4" and became stiff! Action-figures were much more posable in these days before Star Wars revolutionized the market by making everything in miniature scale.

  • Ain't it funny how they have never made figures of Lois Lane or Commisioner Gordon or Alfred or Cheif O' Hara.

  • @FAWLTYWORZELMELDREW

They had no marketability or play value. However, in recent years, figures of Lois Lane and Commissioner Gordon were produced for collectors. *Chief O'Hara is not a DC Comics licence, but a character created by 20th Century Fox Television for the Batman 1966 TV series.

  • I wonder if Penguin, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, Lex Luthor or Green Goblin were ever also available.

  • @FAWLTYWORZELMELDREW ...all of the above!! There's even Clarke Kent and Peter Parker, that are almost impossible to find..

  • Been a while since the Characters in their original form were on toy shelves. In particular Batman in his Adam West form.

  • Hulk was a shorty.

I had... Spidey, BM, Spock... I know... uh lets see... Shazam? Captain America! Favorite. I never really like Spider Man's head... he had no chin... still have Hulk somewhere...

  • Great Memories. I had most all of them in 1978

  • ah this reminds me of pretending on the kindergarten playground, of course at the time the only superheroes i new about were superman, batman, spiderman, hulk, robin, wonder woman, captain america, the flash, aquaman, & wolverine (i was always superman).

  • i love this!!!!!!!! i have batman, robin, riddler, joker, and the batmobile!! best comercial ever!!!

  • Call it a hunch but I dont think superman got into the airforce...or a baseball game as matter of fact.

  • I remember having a difficult time overcoming the fact the Hulk was supossed to be huge, but the action figure was smaller than all the others. :( I was mortally disappointed.

  • Why did you disable embedding!

  • Is Superman chilly in the Air Force commercial...?? He's got on an undershirt for some reason..

  • EPIC FAIL

  • why didn't MEGO give Captain America "OVEN MITS"? in fact, why didn't they make a SUB MARINER?

  • My freind has the batman, riddler, joker, penguin and robin of these figures.

    they cost him a lot

  • i dont wanna join the air force and netheir does superman

  • Ive got the batman and robin in perfect condition :)

  • @mucklebones1973

    You are very lucky!

  • Did someone shit on the Hulk?

  • 0:12

    Batman is missing his gloves!

  • @RedRanger2001 I think it would have been better is him and Robin had coloured arms that matched their gloves as they would be able to grips things with them, Batman has all kinds of gadgets but he wouldn't have been able to hole them because of the gloves hindering him.

  • That Superman in the Air Force commercial is a pansy...

  • ...over-seven-inches-tall!

  • i like twisted toyfare theatres megoes better.

  • @wildhaunter u read twisted toyfare theatre 2?????!!!! I luv toyfare!! I read it evryday!!!

  • @koolkitten66 toyfare readers unite!

  • when a man in tights and cape tells you to come along cause you need a job too...well never mind.

  • Mego's actually doing great at their time.

  • @nightslash3535 ...and they'd probably still be around if they hadn't have passed on doing the Star Wars action figures..can you imagine being the knob who made THAT brilliant decision!!??

  • I killed a man

  • Weird seeing DC and Marvel in the same commercial

  • True. Now Marvel is ABC/Disney/ESPN. Those dolls are now worth close to $100.

  • @brianpadraic i have everyone in mint condition except iron man...still looking for one!

  • @harveydents ...one of the more difficult ones to find!!

  • @RichGilly i know huh.lol

  • Hulk was so strong he could rip through paper like it was paper. And only Spidey could slide down a rope.

  • Mego Action figures and dolls where made in Colombia in the mid-80s. I used to have Mego Pocket Superheroes of Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Spider-Man. Somebody knows more about this issue?

  • they wont let me play with them. and i was like if someone said that to me and i was superman id punch em in the face then id grab one and id run as fast as flash he can but he fights air friction so he would destroy everything he ran past and someone would be like angermanaement classes first day free

  • its burt rynolds lololololol

  • *sigh*

  • I love how Superman just comes out of nowhere in the Air Force commercial.

  • That Air Force one was hilarious!

  • lol. Are we sure this Superman, and not Burt Reynolds who found Superman's costume?

  • Those are the same dolls that Robot Chicken would use.

  • Why would Superman join the air force? Putting him in a plane would be stupid. He can fly!

  • mom can i be in the airforce with superman please

  • Mego toys broke too easy.

  • I had the Batman, Spiderman, Hulk, Superman and, I think, Robin.

The clothes didn't fit the figures well at all. Which you can see in the commercial.

  • Never had the toys as was born later, but love these commercials!!I think clothes-not-fitting well that was the style (yeah that's what they said!)....like the action man toys of the era.

  • I'm amused by the thought of one company making both Marvel AND DC figures XD

  • @Dragonrider1227 Ahh... days before discrimination...

  • @BrickMasher

Yes. I have a dream that my superheroes will be judged NOT by the company that publishes them, but by the content of their characters!

  • @Dragonrider1227 no reason one company cant license both companies superheroes? just a matter of paying money to both companies...

  • @hcvang

Yeah. I think though companies don't WANT to pay to both comic companies. That or the Comic companies want to be in competition rather than work together and want to out profit each other

  • good times

  • I wish i still had those!

  • Me too, I used to have 'em tag-team

wrestle in my rock em' sock 'em robots

    boxing ring. lol

  • the batman.was the greatest doll i had when i was 5 yrs old.thanks i almost forgot this commercial

  • i felt so nostalgic i actually went and found almost every mego super hero action figure i used to have . great to display and you would not believe how many people go " man i had those!!!" or " you want to sell those?" lots of memories.

  • Such A Trick To Get Kids To Join The Army Sigh

  • yeah especially since they were pitching for the air force

  • 1:14 So, you have to be like superman to join? That superman would be more suited in the navy.

1:23 Yeah, you hypocrite. Why don't you get a job as well!

  • look how little the Hulk figure is...

  • @MrPrestoTV

Ah, but it's not the size of your Hulk that matters. It's how you play with it ;)

  • Memorys.... Yes!

  • i remenber this
