  • This isn't keeping the peace, this is the old police turning the peaceful domonstration into an excuse to beat people. A classic old time tactic of the police theater of protest.

  • Vehicular assault with a motorvehicle, isn't that illegal? Then he continues to taunt the person he hit. That isn't a cop, that is the criminal. Someone throwing their bike at a vehiclular assaulting criminal is called a defensive action. He should have Obama's Nobel Prize for promoting police against the portland mounted militia. A motorcycle cop is like a horse copy except that the penis goes on the top. This film clearly demonstrates that issue.

  • This dude throws a bike and then tries to run? Wrong or right, you aren't outpacing 3 bike cops. That's stupid.

  • @IrishRugby05

The cop accelerated first. THAT'S very clear.

The bicylist jabbed because he knew what the cop was trying to do, provoke him. The cop had full control of the situation.

  • if you need to decide weather a cop should be there your all ready too stupid to win...you got dumb enough to act like a piece of shit, you lost...if someone has to pay a person to watch you and your friends and make sure your not hurting the town...your wasting resources

  • I'm no police apologist (I've won a civil rights case against police) and I definitely subscribe to some anarchist ideology, but these protesters are completely counterproductive. Their actions aren't accomplishing anything positive in terms of raising public awareness about state sponsored violence and police corruption because all the public is going to take away is the image of some dude pelting a cop with a bike. The cops were definitely in the wrong but why stoop to their level?

  • moral of the story: run into the crowd!!!! not away from it.

  • A brick? Soooo, hurting people is good? Wait, I'm confused. I thought you were all pissed because hurting people is bad (Not that the guy who had his bike bumped appeared to be hurt, but that's another story). But because you're pissed, you now want to hurt people. Am I the only one who sees a problem with this line of reasoning? Just explain this, please. Is hurting people good or bad?

  • So, regardless of who they are as human beings, anyone who's a cop deserves to be beaten if not murdered? This is how you show your moral superiority? Yes, there are absolutely cops who are violent, aggressive, racist, and totally unsuited for the job. Tell you what: I was married to a cop, and he's one of the finest people I have ever known. But if you enjoy hating an entire group of people because of the actions of some individuals, well, everyone's entitled to their hobbies I guess.

  • To the police, use a bulldozer or vans, not an unstable motorcycle, in which somebody could just push you over. So these protesters complain about one bum, but did any of them try and help him get a job, clean up, make money, contribute to society, or are they just anarchists, just aching to protest against the man.......I got news for the protesters, you are the man.

  • CNN is showing this clip, with the original incident edited out (the cop running into the civilians). KATU's own website video is edited down as well, only showing the bike throwing. Both acts are irksome - the officer intentionally running into civilians, and KATU and other media outlets skewing the facts.

  • It further showcases the mentality of the Portland Police Bureau - these people were protesting the police shooting of a homeless man (who the PPB originally said was brandishing a knife, and now say it was a "razor blade"), and what do the police do? Try to run them over.

  • @9ine6ix the media is garbage. we all know this by now.

  • um, i think...who would ever side with the freaking police who spend all their time pulling people over and giving them tickets for parking on the wrong side of the road, when freaking kids are killing eachother on the streets., its just fd up..cops suck sometimes.

  • They are probably breaking laws everyday themselves, which is so common, and the fact that we have a cop instigating violence into the crowd, there should be a criminal investigation into the total outstanding conduct of the police of that district.. Any good lawyer would stand up to these cops and screw them, because joel spends most of his time at church in the first palce...this is absurd

  • @madrobot99

Joel goes to church? If true, that would account for all the thefts from the collection box.

  • Theres no harm done here.....A protest about a death by the hands of the police vs a 30 lb bike being tossed, community service should be issued, even though joel wouldnt even deserve that, the cop clearly felt like he had to instigate the situation, he drove his motorcycle into the protestors to harrass them, not serve and protect, these cops are ignorant dirty cops.

  • uppin the punx

  • Furthermore, the video itself does not clearly show the face of the individual who threw the bicycle, so please refrain from placing blame on anyone. Innocent until proven guilty. The fact that Joel (should he in fact be the person that threw the bicycle) was charged with a felony for this incident is absurd.

  • @raultabot7:

Please don't spew nonsense. I am a personal friend of Joel Dow's. What he did was act out of frustration from the police officer running into him with his motorcycle. Joel would never attempt to take another person's life. To even think that someone is trying to kill a police officer with a bicycle is ridiculous. There was no motive here, simply a frustrated reaction to an unnecessary situation caused by the police officer.

  • Oh yes.. Kendra James the PREGNANT crack head who jumped into the drivers seat & tried to drive away when cops were entering the car to try & arrest her. Then we have Aaron Campbell a known gang member whose aunt told police he had a gun on him and was said to want death by cop. The only incident that the PPB should have been sued ove & was, was James Chasse a schizophrenic. They paid for that.

In the video you can see the guy push back towards the cop THEN the cop bumped him.

  • @PissOFFuWanker He wasn't pushing back towards the cop. He saw the cop was heading towards him, hesitated for a moment to figure out what to do and started to try and shift the bike's position to get out of the way. Just watch his feet. At no point did he stop walking forwards.

  • @zebra334 yep..

I agree, the guy on the bicycle should get life for trying to kill the police officer with his bicycle. Like you said...it's all on camera. Besides, Joel is a nut, and he would eventually end up in jail or dead.

  • well that cop did run into that one guy for no reason

  • Got love getting away with assault with a motor vehicle.

  • the cyclist clearly first jabbed his bike but at the cop.. the cop taught him a lesson. The cyclist should have left it at that.

  • awesome
