Ha ha! I do have some advice, but i don't know if you are going to like it!

First, grow up singing SATB type church choir music. Then listen to all the old style country music you can get your hands on - a la The Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, etc. That's how I spent my teenage years. Not very popular music, but it definitely grants a kind of intuition for harmonies!

I think they would love it. Glay themselves have done self covers that turned out to be very different from the original (if you have the opportunity, take a look at the acoustic live they played in 1999).
