  • One day i will be showing this to my kids and say these kind of game did your grand father play and these kinga games i played ( show them cod) and they will be like how could you play this crap and later they will love it just like i did

  • Will this game run on intel Extreme i7 OC @ 5ghz and GTXX700 5GB and 10GB DDR3 RAM?

  • I just got this game, but for some reason I can't get any sound out of the console. I think I need a new cable. It's fun to play even without the sound.

  • Gee i hope this game is better to play then it is to watch the felt really slow from the beginning.

  • lol xD

  • I was really badass at this game, I got 99 extra lives and scored more than a million points on it, man it was a hell of a an addictive game. I still have it, haven't played it for like 20 yrs :( Awesome game and a awesome time, I miss it so much...

  • my 4-year-old says "wow, that game is so cool!" (with the wii remote in his hand!)

  • Best Intellivision game ever.

  • i still have mine as well, i use to get 1 million points plus, once you hit the million is goes so fast you dont even have time to blink, i think the most i got was about 1.2 to 1.3 million

  • Ah the turquoise level....insanity!

  • I loved playing this game. It was my favorite. I wish I could find it online to play.

  • @papercandles There is one flash port I think called "Astroflash", not many others, and that port really sucks and isn't anything like the original (most flash games aren't due to copyright issues).

One site made a modernized Astrosmash port with modern graphics but I think there was a dispute there as well over copyright. You can skip all that BS by downloading an intellevision emulator and ROM for Astrosmash, then you can play the very original on your computer.

  • play this game high...

  • this game was actually a lot of fun, it was like Asteroids meets Space Invaders

  • me n my buddy played this, some of the asteroids were spongy, didnt get killed!!!

  • That game sold a million copies?

  • I played this for hours and hours straight. Until my screen just went black, the game stopped playing. I touched my Intellivision and I could have fried an egg on it, it was that hot. I don't know the score but it was an easy 7 - 8 hours of straight play...

  • Remember my parents playing this back in the early 80's. They'd play for hours when they got home. Then I got hooked...I will be getting this since XBOX Live has it..

  • Best game EVER!

  • i still got my intellevision and it still works, stuff those dayswere built to last, still even today, my max Peak score is 114, 400 and that is that....

  • @urdakar I got like 154,000 it was so fast I would loosing men about once every 10-12 seconds.

  • I play this on my ps2 awesome game

  • My parents use to play this back in the day..good memories

  • brings back memories

  • you could pause on the intellivision by pressing 1 and 9 at the same time. i used to have to pause this one because it wore me out.

  • Had to show my kids what ruled back in the day. They LTAO! "Wow, mom, great graphics!" Loved the game. Played for hours and hours and hours....until we were blurry-eyed!

  • I used to make my friends 'LOL' when i said.. "IM BEING ATTACKED BY FALLING GIANT PIECES OF FISH-FOOD!" :-D

  • i played this game so much. from early morning till late at night. getting exploded actully felt painful. you can relate eh?

  • This game ruled back in the day.

  • @nuktubian What do you mean by "back in the day?" ;)

  • I miss this game so much! My and my brother used to play the shit out of it!

  • my dad played this game for like 12 hours straight, just to get the high score.

  • When I was a child I played this game and three other intelliviseon games (frog bog, a game like donkey kong and I think space armada) at my grandmothers house :) Good old times <3

And this game seriously has the simplest background "music" ever... get yourself a snare drum and go TFF ... TFF ... TFF ... TFF ... TFF ...

  • LOL!!

  • @HankWhiteman Was the game like Donkey Kong Beauty and the Beast?

  • I wish the Intellivision games had a save feature back then. My thumb usually gave out on games like this long before the game ended.

  • the auto fire option was sent from heaven

  • This game like never ever ended! LOL

  • where did you download the emulator? what's its name?

  • wow this is a flashback

  • If you ever wondered what carpal tunnel felt like, this was the game. Hell, if you wanted to know what it was like to not peripheral vision, this was the game too.

  • My cousin flipped the numbers in this game he was up so high. He was trying to win some contest. He needed to take a picture of the screen to send in and his family turned it off on him. He was crushed!

  • That's like the worst thing one can do as a parent :/

  • I remember that contest because I tried to win too. I started the game at the slowest speed and then kept going until my final score was over 750,000. Unfortunately I entered over a month late. :(

  • I heard that the controls need some getting used to. Is this true?

  • Not really, the auto-fire button helps out with game controls.

You can manually fire bullets yourself, but it is much easier just to set it on auto-fire and then use the disc to dodge when needed.

  • God this game use to drive me nuts. This and atlantis. Damn you you wierd rotating thingy!

  • This was a pretty good Asteroids variant when you needed a break from your more involved games. Loved the little "coke bottles" that would tumble from the sky.

  • Ahhh - the hours and hours I spent playing this game defending my territory from the onslaught of meteors, guided missiles, and UFO's! Man I had cool parents for getting me an Intellivision!

  • i wana play this game now!

  • more memories...

  • I think I'm deluding myself...from other vids posted I tend to doubt I hit a million +, but instead was in the multiple 100Ks and had accrued more than 100 extra "guys."

  • I played this and MASHED up my thumbs on that controller.

  • Agreed...I hit a million + and now ask myself what the hell was I thinking.

  • you can hear a rhythm between the gun firing and the astroids exploding.

  • Once I got past 800,000 points on this game. =). Thanks for uploading. Fond memories of Intellivision. =)

  • So much better than the atari version

  • I remember that hyper----(teleport thingy) forgot what it was called, but at the higher levels you couldnt count on it saving you...it would ruin you! Awesome game!

  • Intellivison is amazing<3 Answer me this, how come that system and all the games still work after almost 30 years but my yr old Playstation 3 games dont work anymore..

  • This game was one of the first bricks laid in the road to the ruin of my attention span...Hey, let's go ride bikes!

  • Yea, I still have a Intellivision to this day. It sits next to my PS 3 80g and Wii, lol. Love the games of my youth :)

  • I remember past 100,000 I think everything was just super fast, and you had to get those huge or small diamond ones or you automatically died... then those satellites you had to dodge. Way fun. Nice footage.

  • Yea, I think if I remember right. It goes back to a Black screen. I was so damn good at this game back then.

  • Yup, over 100,000 was a black screen, just like from 0-995 was.

  • That was intense.

  • Memory-wise, perhaps the entire Intellivision library could fit on to one "Halo" CD!

  • i still have this game in its original wrapping how much would that be worth

  • if it's like atari 2600 games on ebay, probably not a whole damn lot

  • This gama was BADASS!

Amazing my mom established records here

  • I played this when i was a kid for hours and hours

  • LOL - why does it sound like somebody getting whipped over and over again in the background??? I love the sound of the falling 'bomb' and the annoying beep. beep of the 'satilite' ... see i love how u had to use your IMAGINATION in games then!!!!

  • Strangely hypnotic game. Didn't have an Intellivision but always liked playing this in stores or at a friend's house. Ah, 8 years old.

  • The highest score I got 4,874,340 points. For those of you who know how hard that level is. Didn't you love the non-stop attack of the guided missle. It just got faster and faster and just wouldn't stop. Forget about the spirals you just didn't have time to worry about them if you were constantly being followed.

  • gosh.. thats high.. and yes.. I remember how fast and manic it got.. cant remember my score im talking YEEEARSSS ago.. my cousins have destryed my console and sadly i have never found another one yet :(. brings memories. also loved night stalker!

  • the astro smash for the 10-in-one is terrible compair to the real one. for one thing your ship moves slower and you can only shoot one bullet at a time

  • Three bullets at a time was only slightly better...

  • At the higher levels, all you can really do is aim for the spinners.

  • and close your eyes and hope...

  • No! You'll definitely lose that way! But you could also press 1 and 9 to pause the game and take a break.

  • ooooh yeah i remember 9 was pause now... hehe.. it got manic later thats ll i remember, sadly my cousin smashed my intellivisio for 'fun' and i have never found another one since.. hurray for emulators

  • this game takes too damn long to get hard. astroblast was harder.

  • My favorite game ever. I could play hours and hours until my fingers said STOP.

I loved the aqua-blue level, I dunno why, I was a child anyway :) sitting a meter from a big tv

  • What is the difference between the various Intellivisions? Is it like the difference between NES and SNES? Anyone?!

  • They were the same, except for the controllers. The original had nice raised buttons, then the next ones had flat buttons that weren't as easy to use. They all played the same, though.

  • AMaxing

  • Same here!

  • level 5 if i remember right was grey colored

  • The 2600 released a clone, Astroblast, but it was a half-hearted effort.

  • Are you kidding me? Astroblast was great! The secret was to use a paddle instead of a joystick.

BTW, I just got 248,000 on this game under the IntellivisionLives! emulator. Just thought I'd share. (I have a real INTY, but it's not out at the moment.) :-)

  • I've played both the official emulator and the version on one of those 10-in-one games they're OK, but Astroblast was a much better (and faster) game, especially with the paddle.

  • This was one of my favorite games to play in Intellivision. I always applied "autofire" allright.

  • We should have a video contest on who can get the farest.

  • I actually have this game still...

  • i have the 3 emulators, form the intelivison site, you can download them for the PC

  • My thumbs hurt just watching this

  • Sattelites of course!

  • wow i remember this game. what the heck are those white spinning things supposed to be

  • i could flip this game

  • brings back memories
