  • i love this one!!!! john legend did an excellent job live on soul train tribute to Smokey.

  • Y'all know about the "Quiet Storm" with Marco Spoon on Majic 102 in Houston, TX! I like him so much he plays my favorite tunes every night!

  • That's an awesome bass.

  • the first time i heard this song i was either 3 or 5 and i live in houston tx and itt would come on majic 102.1

  • feelin it!!!!

  • People are entitled to their opinion, but really.....24 dislikes? I'm gonna give them a pass and say they hit that button on accident.

  • I remember WBLS with V. Harper early in the morning while getting ready to go to South Shore H.S. in Bklyn N.Y they don't make music like this any more. Maybe with a few exceptions like John Legend. I love his music and style. This brings me back to so many great memories. All the Best Peeps!

  • 24 people heard thunder during the quiet storm & hit the wrong button

  • this is a dogzbolox fkn coooooool tune

  • THIS SONG IS STILL HOTT!!

  • I'm 14 years old and i would like to apologize what our generation has done to music.

    that is all

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO It's not really your fault. That's just what happens when people forget their history. Everything seems new and impressive until you listen to this and realize you've been had.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI If nobody supported the crap that is offered as music (most) today...it would disappear like anything else...you MUST blame those who support it, buy it, listen to it, infuse it into media...vulgar negativity...Drake...a self proclaimed "role model"...?? PLEASE. The ratio of good music vs bad has flipped and now bad/negative music dominates...b/c consumers let it.

  • @MrSlojam308 They don't know any better. If you feed someone crap long enough they won't mind the taste anymore. In my town there is only one radio station where I can actually hear this song, and even then it's probably only at night. Kids usually get exposed to that other music and many of them are so "used to it" that they don't know how to react to anything else. You'd be suprised at how many people do things because their used to it, despite the negative effects.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI Oh man I spelled they're wrong... <_<

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO I'm 12 years your senior. It's not ALL your fault. Educate the masses. You're our only hope....

  • @Imp3rf3ctAng3lXOXO well said

and that's the time I feel like making love by Roberta Flack.

  • I know everyone loves the music of our youth over any other era. No 1's youthful era is better then any other's. The music is special for no other reason then the fact that the it conveys our raw & unadulterated emotions. Smokey is a talent unto himself. Truly unmatched! That's just my opinion respectfully!!!

  • This is The Song that Inspired " Quiet Storm Radio" !!!

  • @robbak40 ACTUALLY, Melvin Lindsay of WHUR inspired KATHY HUGHES [of TVONE/RADIO/ONE] the then program director of HOWARD UNIVERSITY radio [WHUR] to name the segment QUIET STORM. as the legend goes - KH needed a stand-in for an absent dj one night and MM was so nervous he couldn't talk so played slow jams alnight....et voila' a new radio format is born.

    n2 [from dc]

  • 0:46 reminds me of 'Break of Dawn' by MJ...

  • I was 8 years old when I fell in love with Bill "Smokey" Robinson. He and Barry Gordy released the first collaboration entitled "Bad Girl". That was in 1959 and I've loved him since.

  • Did Michael Henderson play Bass on this song?

  • W.H.U.R. thats all that needs to be said

  • if a woman can inspire a man to write and sing a song this beautiful.......how beautiful is she?

  • I hate the fact that Smokey Robinson is as old as he is, and he could probably took my girl from me.

  • LOVE THIS SONG. THE QUIET STORM RADIO PROGRAMS STARTED WITH THIS CLASSIC BY SMOKEY. THIS IS A TREASURE,WHY DON'T THEY MAKE SONGS LIKE THESE ANYMORE. NO SHOULD TRY AN COVER THIS CLASSIC,BECAUSE AFTER SMOKEY RECORDED IT, THE MODE WAS BROKEN.PURE JOY.OF ALL THE MOTOWN LEGENDS,SMOKEY'S STILL WITH US,LET'S APPRECIATE THIS MAN RIGHT NOW FOR HIS WONDERFUL SONG WRITING BEING THE TRUE BACK AT MOTOWN.

  • The Place: Pacific Coast Highway, Southbound, Cliffs on one side, Pacific Ocean on the other. Top down.

Time: About daybreak, most any Sunday morning.

Ambiance: Misty, breaking sunrays over the East Hills, windows wide open.

  • @msantizoperez , negative IT WAS not 98.7 kiss it was wbls 107.5 WITH THE LEGENDARY deejay VAUGHN Harper who created the quiet storm format that is follwed today by many stations across the country,KEITH SWEAT NOW HOSTS the show in the same time slot VAUGHN harper had, he calls his show THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM ( just thought you should know) from a life long new yorker from the BOOGIE DOWN BRONX

  • @6icebreaker Lordy... I can't even remember who's right. All I know is that I looked forward to it everynight back in the day : ).... lol.. It was always the opener and set the tone for the rest of the show.

  • @msantizoperez This song should open every "Quiet Storm" segment on every black radio station in America.

  • @msantizoperez this was the opening to Quiet Storm Magic 108! After a certain time in the evening they would slow the music down and all you heard was real music. This song takes me back to my childhood.

  • Nice tune by the great one :)

  • dr dre once said this was his favourite tune.

  • It's funny how i was introduced to this song...I knew smokey but not this track. One summer, coming home from a bbq, we had on rock and my brother in law, put this on and says WHAT U YOUNG WHIPPER SNAPPERS KNOW ABOUT MUSIC! So he blast this all the way home and it stuck. Smooth one smokey

  • yall ready!!!!

  • Oh man.... this is the jam... Used to play this at night in the dorm and dream of my Lady!!

  • YESSS!!! I love this!

  • Smokey Robinson is not that good??? Who could say something so STUPID, this guy not only wrote and produced so many MOTOWN hits, his voice is on perfect pitch. Idiot

  • A butterfly caught up in a hurricane. If that ain't deep, what is? Smokey is just too bad. And as he use to say: Where there's smoke, there's fire. And he ain't never lied!

  • Was I the only one who didn't want it to end, as long as it was.

  • Hmm, all of you are remeniscing about this guy, IMHO he really isn't that good.

  • I know I'll get roasted for this, but after exhaustive listening to a two-CD, 26-song career retrospective, I think he's a heck of a songwriter but a mediocre singer. His voice is thin with very little range. No knock there, it hasn't hurt Madonna.

  • @hork111 i kind of agree, he can harmonize, but you're right his songs are beautifully written, artistic in style.

  • @hork111 you mention madonna in the same post as smokey? his voice was meant to be apart of a grouop which he was. two madonna cant even reach high notes like smokey. but you are allowed to have your opinion

  • @mjjcng8958 His voice was meant to be part of a group? Is that the same as being lost without the group? My comparison with Madonna was actually a compliment, that they both attained superstardom without possessing a super pair of pipes. And I'll put Madonna up with anyone. She's stood the test of time. How many 80's folks can still pack 'em in? Listen to Ray Of Light and then get back to me. The party girl has matured. You hate Madonna?Them's fightin' words, podna! I'm kidding, have a nice day.

  • this bring back memorie when i was 3 sleeping in the car while my grandma drive x.x good times

  • HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT RALFI PAGAN, THIS GUYS VOICE CAN MAKE YOU BELIEVE SMOKEYS SINGING, UNCANNY!

  • Just got my car broken Into nd This song just relaxed the hell outta me!

  • HIs voice is Unbelievable

  • No one dan sing it like Smokey. His voice is sooo smooth. This is REAL music. I pray we can go back to where music can sing to the soul and tell a decent message without degrading someone. Yess....Quiet Storm.....let it fall and never stop....Quiet storm flowing through my....blow baby.....That's music

  • 213

  • Bestest ever by Smokey!!!

Gotta love it growing up in

HIGHLAND PARK 80's & 90's under "Southern California" sun!

  • Un placer para los oidos!!!!

  • Now this is grown folks music....LOL Dont act like you dont know

  • my god...they played this every night on the radio when i was a kid in miami. damn, this brings me back so hard. i feel like crying and dying at the same time. i miss those days, when everyone had decent money if not good money, clinton was rockin the house, and i could actually do what i want to do for fun, and not have to judge what i can and cant do by my age. another plus, i've forsaken most of my generations music and this is exactly what i like. smooth, soft soulful sounds. my god my god..

  • @D7r2E I agree with every thing u said except for dying not this nigga um ummm umm not meeeeee lol they do the same thing still in buffalo

  • ahh im only 16 & i knew & heard this song whn i was like 2 lolz..love it every sence

  • It's very possible that Smokey had the sexiest falsetto in the history of recorded music. This song is a great example. And to think, he had retired from music to be an executive. He came back to music in 1974 and it was a wise decision. He had to show the newcomers he was still a master.

  • The original theme song for WHUR in Washington D.C. radio show of the same name. The original quiet storm ....thanks Melvin.....RIP

  • back in the earley 70s this was, my skatting sooooong!!!!! and boy could i skate!!!!!!.

  • You're just like a Quiet Storm blowin' through my life

    Blow, Baby..

Damn. Takes me way back. Sippin' wine while laying on the shag carpet with your lady. The only light coming from the radio dial and the mood blue light. Damn - kicking that jasmine incense. Thanks Smokey - you provided the essential ingredient into many wonderful nights.

  • just some cool azz musicc
