To use a technical term, your bellows are "buggered!" Thanks for the posting. No need for trips to the gym with this beauty in the house, though. (The pedals are supposed to be worked with ANKLE movements, rather than the whole body approach. Full marks for persistence though.) By the time this had ended, I was exhausted.
@Belgologies Thanks for the reply. If you mean that others had commented on the bellows, then, yes, I did see them, but your efforts to keep the wind in are the main feature of this video (whether you intended this, or not) and I'm afraid I could not resist, as no doubt many others will fail to do in future. Did you ever get them repaired, by the way? Hope so!
@Offshoreorganbuilder Yep, that's what I ment. The bellows are not fixed yet, because I had to repair some instruments before it, and to restore the house I bought to set all of them in ! This big harmonium is one of the tops I'll ork on, after a Baltahsar and a piano waiting for me ! So much to do... so few time... so much pleasure !
Dear Lord, brother, you are getting a real aerobic workout! You look like Lance Armstrong pedaling down the home stretch. Better see where the leaks are in
your bellows or gallery. If an old lady had to play that instrument she'd keel over
from a heart attack right in the middle of church! If all is well you should only have
to slowly pedal even to get maximum volume. Nice organ though.
@4freespeech Ha ha ha, I love your soincerety and your humor sense. This 2-years ago video was indeed a real sport adventure... as his recent moving !
It seems this harmonium organ needs the bellows repaired. An instrument in good repair would not require this amount of leg work just to charge the air supply. These things can really make a frightfully non-harmonious sound. Whew!
You have a leeking bellows also air is syphoning through a faulty valve. The organ was made around 1860. I know this to be right as I play the exact model organ in my Chapel. I also repaired it and fitted new bellows, the sound now fills the chapel and sends shivers up my spine every time I play it
Thank you so much for your message, I will check the bellow more deeply when my moving will be finished. Do you know perhaps the name of the manufacturer ? It's a french/belgian one, but who ?
What is that hymn please that starts around :15? I know I've seen it in one of my books and I can't find it! It's driviving me crazy not to find it cause it's such a nice one! :) Thanks! You play so much with no music - do you play by ear, or just memorize easily? I admire what you do and how well you do it.
Hello; thanks for your comment. At the beginning, I studied the horn ! But never the keyboard. I think I can memorize, but not a lot. I play most of the time by ear, but I know the notes I play. For your question, can you please verify the timing ? At 00'15'', it's the Dutch child song :)
Hello; sorry to give yous ome contradictions. In fact, I pump too fast, I know. But this instrument has no leak at all. Even if the sound of this video is very bad, you cannot hear a parrot screaming when I play it !
Hello, in fact there is no leaks at all. This instrument is really powerfull ! You can't talk when I play :) But I have to recognize that I pump too much, my feet have tendancy to keep the same tempo as the song. I'll have to practise !
I don't know : I disassembled it (go on my blog), and didn't find any medal or inscription ! I'm sure it's a french harmonium, but from who ? If you have an idea ... :)
Bonjour; un '32 pieds baryton' ? Qu'entendez-vous par là ? Je ferai sans doute une petite vidéo ce week-end des différents jeux. Je la mets sur YouTube au début de la suivante ...
It comes from the 1847's Henry Lyte hymn text, "Abide with Me." It's a 'cantic' very often used in the english-speaking churches (both catholic and anglican). Then it's a traditionnal christmas song, but I don't remember the title.
WTF is up with this retarded song

You are pumping the pedals fairly quickly... perhaps the reservoirs need some fixing-up/replacing?
