As much as I always admired McCain(such as when he told Bush that he was irresponsible for the tax cuts) I always thought he caved in when he was pressured by his party. I am not surprised by his behavior. I guess he is just a tired old man who wants to win one last time. General Powell has summarized both campaigns perfectly. I appreciate how thoughtful he was leading up to his endorsement of Mr. Obama. He is the most eloquent Republican we've heard speak in all these many months of the campaign. No exaggerations or lies, just straight talk and truth. Powell is such an intelligent, thoughtful, and fair person, and I'm impressed every time I see him speak. It's an irrelevant point, but hypothetically, if there is one person I'd like to be president, it's him. The story of the Islamic soldier was especially moving, and I'm so glad someone finally had the guts to say, "Even if he was Muslim, who cares?". I hope he doesn't receive backlash for the comment, because it is a risky statement to say on a media network.
