  • your photorealism is pristine, thanks for posting this video! impressive compared to a lot of other vids out there, great depth. I would soften up that red sort of diomond shape on the top of the nose/forehead, it looks a little harsh compared to the picture, not bashing you, just no matter how good we are theres always room for improvement right? :) cheers

  • U are so good im a beginer intermediate, did u say that u were using a 5RS

  • No offense, but I HATE the look of that electric ballpoint. Lacks all the charm of a welded frame with a nice shape, like a tattoo machine I mean...

  • what kind of tattoo machine is that? rotary?

  • @shawn2798801 that would be a Neuma machine my friend, the newest guns used for better quality.

  • Im sorry, it is great skill to do this but i really DON'T see this tattoo holding very well after many years seriously.

Nikko is amazing to bad that style is not meant for skin.

    Traditional,Japanese,Polynesian is the real tattooing.

Im not hating just is fact.

  • @ozzyg77 bret cothren in florida did my george carlin peice over three years ago still looks like the day i got it done!!!

  • Nicko your my hero!!!!!

  • Who's the artist?He's great

  • Sorry hos >:)

  • @Msngr415 STFU IM NOT TATTOOIN ANYBODDDDDDDDIE

  • @norteno209x4 i was trying to help you asshole hahaha wtf?......read my next message. you said you were "doing it till it was in there"...sounds like you were tattooing someone so excuse me if your wording suggested otherwise. see what happens when you try and help people. you can't take criticism. i just gave you information that's worth $1000's so show some fucken gratitude.

  • @MSNGR415 just go fucken practice what the fuck i said and watch your work get better.

  • You know

  • And that's why Nikko is the best

  • yah tattoo guys in shops are dicks, there haters

  • @evildead818 not all are like that. i'm not like that. but i can say i work with a couple.

  • I say call your machine watever you want to call it. Shit don't listen to all these alters ego fucker's who think their shit don't stink because they work in a shop fuck! Besides they wont teach you because they think they are the shit Just do what you have to do. Oh and shit nikko you inspire me *The*state*of*catharsis*

  • @303inks your trippin i work at a shop and i give scratchers that come into our shop a shit load of help and pointers so that they don't fuck peoples skin up. the ego is actually more on the end of the hack that thinks he can just tattoo by picking up a machine. and it's not called a gun for a reason.....uhhhhh maybe because it doesn't shoot shit...look at all of you on your high horses calling the kettle black.

  • @MSNGR415 What all is involved in setting up a neuma? I'm a "scratcher" lol, even though I only scratch myself until a couple weeks ago when my buddy let me do some work on him...I think the only thing keepin me from getting in a shop are the assholes at the shops who want you to know how to be the world's greatest artist so they don't have to put any effort into actually training...I wish I lived somewhere that the artists weren't so fucking lazy and fucked up on meds...

  • Thats some awsone work... Damn

  • good info. fuck anybody thats on here telling you what to call your machine. las if it even madders in the real world keep doing what you do love the work

  • @HatchetDesTroyer510 funny that you made this statement and still called it a machine. calling a machine a tattoo gun only makes you look and sound like a novice. 1. it doesn't shoot anything so how can it be a gun? 2. there is no trigger and i've yet to ever purchase a firing gun that shot with the use of a footswitch. 3. i have plenty of guns if you need a crash course on the difference between the two. machines don't shoot ink they carry ink into the skin or push even.

  • @MSNGR415 ppl use it as slang and you just wanna be a tight ass on the web its cool thats what makes you tuff now adays im i right?

  • @HatchetDesTroyer510 that's right .."people", as in the general public, use it as slang...not tattoo artist ...and misinformed people at that. how is educating people on the correct terminology trying to be tough??? i'm just saying anyone with half a brain could tell the difference between something that fires ammo and something that pushes ink. or maybe all us actual tattoo artist are wrong????

  • First of all they are machines not guns..the one he is using is a neuma(neumatic) wich means it runs on compressed air.traditional machines have coils wich are elctric and use magnitism to pull the armature bar down..then there are rotary machines.. its not the machine, its the tattoo artist skills and techniques that make an awsome tattoo like this..so don't think just cuz u buy a machine like his that ure tattoos are gonna look that good. Just sayin

  • @IESKAYESIESKA Great explanation, thx!

  • @IESKAYESIESKA yup i own two nuemas and a bunch of coils. nuemas aren't great for everything. nikko uses them great cause he's dope. but nuemas slow you down. they don't pack in color as fast as some coils. i love my nuemas for grey shading and getting nice tones.

  • @MSNGR415 wow didnt know they would slow u down, never used one. i only use coil machines for now but i wanna try rotary. heard they cause less trauma to the skin and u know less trauma= quicker healing and better tattoo over all

  • that was an amazing job. i hope to be at your level one day.

  • really really nice work! Thanks so much!

  • Seen this on a DVD yo dude is monster he has his own style. Uses the like paint by numbers thing idk great work hope to be as good

  • @tjsik that's called a stencil and every artist uses them. nikko puts a little more attention to detail when he creates his stencil as to give representation of where the highlights should lay and stuff like that. nikko didn't create a new style he took what he learned from other artist and applied his skilled use of color tones and realism to the mix. look up cecil porter he's just as good if not better than nikko but wasn't on tv.

  • great work!

  • It's not the machine it's his skill that makes it look easy

  • that looks amazing!

  • Is the rotary machine what is making the color so epic? it seems so smooth and he seems to not be putting much affort at ALL into adding the white....Badass artwork man, keep it up with the great videos!

  • @Deciblaster actually nuemas don't pack in color nearly as fast as coils do. i own both nuemas. you'll notice the vid is sped up. that's because it takes longer to get the color impact with a nuema. especially with the air compressed units. nikko has said in interviews that he had to slow down to use the nuemas. when you make as much as he does you can work really slow. for most artist working that slow would mean less money.

it's the technique that makes it look so good.

  • @MSNGR415 So what's the real benefit of a neumatic machine? does it hit softer at a higher spring tension or something? I guess I just dont really see the need to buy one if I can do the same shit with good old coils..? lol

  • Great work & Tutorial. Thank you for your time. Johnny

  • Nice work Mann.... Like really nice

  • great work, and thanks for sharing, it helps a lot!

  • what kind of gun is that?

  • @shizzy357 nuematic machine. they don't make those 1st gens anymore.

  • How deep should the needle be going for lining and shading idk I just did it till the ink was in there I'm still experimenting? Need help anyone?:(

  • @norteno209x4 that's the problem man...if you don't know you shouldn't be putting that needle on skin. use oranges to practice or fake skin. your gonna scar people doing it that way. i get hella people that want tattoos that were done this way fixed up but it's 10 times harder to fix a scared jacked up tatt then to go to work on fresh skin. artist at shops hate scratchers for this reason. it makes our jobs harder and shows that your passion is in making dough over making art.

  • @MSNGR415 now with that explained......set your needle out no thicker than a dime. if you can't get ink in the skin at that depth your not stretching the skin tight enough. do it this way and your shit will heal better and you'll get consistent lines. respect your clients body and do good work. from your name i can see your a homie..don't let your boys tell you everything needs to be done single needle please. that shit gets annoying and takes way to long.

  • @MSNGR415 wow lol single needles only.. how long would a piece take with only working with single needles. when u can slap on a magnum and do it in half the time or less.not that its impossible but not efficient.good tips msngr415

  • where can i get a gun like that???? looks like it makes tattooing less effortless...like pen on paper!

  • @lakenross THIER PRETTY EXPENSIVE BRO YOUR BETTER OFF BUYING A THICK GRIP THOSE GUNS CAN RUN ABOUT 500 BUT IF YOU CAN AFFORD THEM YOU CAN GET THEM ONLINE ITS CALLD A NUEMA I BELIEVE

  • @NME712 funny cause my nuemas look nothing like my ar-15 or my 45. cal so why are you calling it a gun?

  • who gives a fuck, as for your critics on novice no one gives a fuck some people rather have shitty tattoos done by family friends that have more meaning than some random dude on a shop or your favorite idolized so called tattoo artist, theres more to tattoing; cultures have different ways of obtaining tattoos, naming their matierials and meanings of tattoos in various ways. by the way isnt it 45. caliber what do i care anyways anyone can shoot a gun

  • @NME712 yeah people do give a fuck.....it's their bodies. i don't know anyone i've met that weighed the pros and cons and said" yeah i think i'll go with the shitty tattoo" come on be real. yes, if it's family than it's all good. i tattooed my dads ashes into my mother and it was very meaningful. but it was also clean and professional..no scaring...no blow outs....nothing that would need fixing like most of the hack jobs that i end up having to fix.

  • @NME712 as far as other cultures go..YEAH, they have their ways and names for their tools and you wouldn't call their tools guns would you?...you'd call them by their proper name. that's all that's happening here, we want the proper names being used. i mean your not out in "another culture" learning their craft..your here learning modern tattooing in "our culture" so it's just a common sense thing. . in reality if you do good work call it a dildo for all i care.

  • @lakenross you are an idiot

  • @lakenross You can't get a gun like that. Because that isn't a gun. It's a rotary tattoo machine. And anyone who calls it a gun, is a scratcher. And shouldn't own one to begin with. So you have no problem.

  • @XxViolentByDesignxX Apparently, using different terminology makes you a terrible artist. I know most tattoo artists find it offensive when someone calls their machine a gun, but still.. You need to chill.

  • @xKAMRONx that's becuase it doesn't shoot anyone. it's just stupid to call something what it's not.it's like calling a car a bike just cause you want to.

  • @XxViolentByDesignxX it's actually not a rotary. it's a nuematic machine running off air. those are the old nuemas in the vid that were a hastle cause you had to oil them and shit. the new ones like the ones i got have rotary motors that attach to the back if needed for use with a electronic power supply. the nuema hybrids.

  • @lakenross machine...and no they don't. i own both versions of the nuema hybrids. the plus is the lightweight but they do not do anything to make you a better artist. my old juan puente coil machine lines 100 times better than my nuema does. they are just a different type of machine for different applications.

  • love his work an amazing artist

  • youre very good man!!!! crazy!!

  • this is one of my fav. color portrait artists

  • what amazing mastery and skill. I could watch this over and over again. His ink caps even look like a crazy painters palette.

  • What type of machine are you using bro?

  • Awesome portrait man! 2 thumbs up!

  • It´s a neuma machine, You can google neuma tattoo. You need a compressor to run it. I bough one of those neumas and never use it cause my compressor has not enough air caudal. I might sell it on ebay....

  • @thejackco that's why i said fuck the 1st gens. i waited past the hype and grabbed the nuema hybrids so i wouldn't have to buy a noisey ass compressor. you want a dope ass machine by a dragonfly.

  • WHAT MACHINE IS THAT!!! I WRITE IN CAPS SO SOMEBODY CAN SEE THIS!!!

  • @93tiny08 pnuematic gun

  • @the1happ i think those are used in construction buddy. this is a nuematic machine,1st gen they don't make them anymore. get a nuema hybrid or fuck nuemas all together and get a dragonfly if you got the scratch.($700)

  • Nice work........Question what kind of gun are you using?

  • @me671

    looks like a Pneumatic machine.

  • @goonskank

you gotta hook it up to an aircompressor right?

  • hi nikki, great work man i just wanted to ask you can one highlight directly over color or do you have to leave gaps.....thanks

  • @mrsmanie1 you have to leave gaps, lighter colors cannot cover over darker colors at all when its already on the skin

  • @anonimustatts stencil stencil stencil

  • @mrsmanie1 gaps....but what can happen is you can use a lighter color if it has white pigment in it to add tone to a color already on the skin. but for a highlight you need to leave negative space on the skin to accept it.

  • great video thanks for postin, as im learning the art of tattoo-in and this clip is great like ur work qualiity portrait

  • beautiful

  • It looks like a rotary machine.

  • Personally I think neumas r shit but Nikko works that gun like a god lol

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THAT TATTOO MACHINE!!!!!

  • @ericdanjah itscalled a Neuma achine, theyve been out for around4 years

  • this clip is from a "how to" video that i still wanna get

    in thegnomonworkshop

and yea i think nikko knows he's one of the very best out there...ever! lol

  • YOU KNOW....LOL But back to being seroius, Nikko is one of the best tattoo artists <3

  • better than the picture! awesome! hows that machine hold up? i been debatin a switch over to air power.

  • absolument magnifique

  • omg beast!!!

  • what kind of white he use?

  • @zune008 probably alla prima.

  • Nikko owns at color portraits. I have the full DVD saw this from start to finish.

  • How much is your tattoo machine?? were did you buy it from? I have seen tons of people useing the same machine you are useing and never asked..PLEASE let me know?

    CATS-PURRRFECT =))

  • @CatsPurrfect It's called a neuma and its a piece of shit, Nikko doesnt use them anymore save yourself the 1500 dollars it costs to set it up and buy yourself some stigma swash drives, and some FK irons.

  • Cool tattoo, but neuma's suck. Nikko went back to his old standby of coils along time ago, dont get caught up in the hype! Neuma colors fade and they dont pack in colors well.

  • Im stunned,,, that is art man, beautiful art!

  • genius man this is truly amazing!

  • ink brand?

  • @themutherfunkinDme try these....i know he uses fusion..i have a fusion set but be weary some of the inks are as thick as paste and need to be watered down. or you can go with starbrite inks or alla prima (expensive)

  • fa nominal

  • Fark ya do nice work man...heaps of colors...
