  • I consider myself very blessed indeed to have been lucky enough to see two of Jeff's more intimate gigs before his untimely transformation from human angel into Actual Angel!. . . I am left with his music only now... Which is one of the main reasons I am left, on the whole, with a Satisfied Mind!.

    One Love. . .

    All Love. . .

    Peace. . . Jeff.

  • I cry not because Jeff has passed, but because I know he will never be equaled. Not during my lifetime at least. I have heard the ultimate music, and it is called Jeff Buckley.

  • There are many musicians I will never get to see. JB tops the list of those I wish I could.

  • A brilliant msician that is also a true artist. His music and voice will live forever, thank you Jeff for giving us such a diversity of music during your short time among us physically.

  • Jeff really makes you respect music with a greater passion. Fucking awesome music,

  • Christmas should be moved to Jeffs birthday.....

  • dedicated to you

  • such a legend. one of the worlds finest voices.

  • You fuckers stop thinking the ability to sing more octaves speak more about an artist. The most difficult thing in the world is to find one's voice, one's true way of expressing, 1 octave or ten. He found it from an early age and he happened to have a magnificent range, but that comes secondary although it was part of his self. Technique alone is what dolts with no talent aim for because they can't come up with something new. He had a superb voice, but most of all he had something worth saying

  • @mauiztic One of the best music-related comments I've read on Youtube Couldn't agree more

  • Those commenting her about octave range, type in Ivan Rebroff Evening Bells and listen. Might not be everyone's taste, but is very impressive.

  • ~A true talent, with incredible Soul...We Remember...Jeff Buckley!

  • What would you give to see Hendrix sitting and watching this performance, nodding and smiling. I'd love to know what he would have thought of Jeff Buckley.

  • Great song, but Johnny Cash's and Porter Waggoner's versions are much more effective. This song was written from an older man's point of view, and Buckley sounds like a kid. He may have been able to sing in four octaves, but he picked the wrong one for this tune.

  • @agingstoner That was true until the day he died. Now when I listen to him do this song it has much greater weight. Unfortunately

  • @agingstoner who is this comment useful to?

  • @agingstoner I think you haven't listened to him on interviews, whenever he commented something seriosly he sounded so wise, so centered, so goodhearted and peaceful, he was not a kid as you put it, his own music is not the music of a kid; he was from another world. To me this song fits him like a glove. And I like to think he died with a satisfied mind.

  • True words and feeling cannot be counted in octave's......Jeff was pure soul with an angelic voice. Enough said!

  • Ok for everyone. Listen. No man on earth has more than a five octave vocal range. Most guys with great ranges have no more than 3, thats what I have. Jeff probably had a 3 and a half to 4 octave range. Even Freddie Mercury only had 4 barely.

  • Not saying this is true but I heard Mike Patton had an 8 octave range. His voice is impressive obviously but whether thats true I'm not sure. He can certainly go deep and really wail. Meh i dunno I like pie!

  • I want to press like over and over and over and over!!!

  • timeless and beautiful as always....can't express my gratifications for a truly angelic voice! you are miss mr. buckley as always!

  • money cant bring back jeff buckley.......

  • Just discovered this guy, just fell in love with his music.

  • Love this one, but I prefer Byrds' version of the song.

  • If you love Jeff, you'll L O V E Tim!

  • @hendrixrules11 NOT TRUE

  • I don't like how he omitted the word "his" from the second line, I think that word is important in the song.

  • How many times have you heard someone say,

"If I had money, I would do things my way."

But little they know, that it's so hard to find

one rich man in ten, with a satisfied mind.

  • 128,000 views disgusting i lost faith in humanity

  • I think people who dislikes Jeff Buckley are people who have never loved and never felt feelings.

  • Comment removed

  • Hallelujah! Jeff's an angel.

  • Hallelujah!

  • Saw him twice in one day, unplugged at mamakin. then opening for julianna hatfiled later that night. a memorable day.

  • The amazing thing about Buckley was that sure he had the amazing range but his actual voice was just so frickin beautiful at all ranges

  • i hope he DID leave this world with a satisfied mind </3

    beautiful.

  • I love playing this song on the guitar!!! =)

  • Help!! ....... I love this man waaaay tooo much! gotta detox? hell, maybe tomorrow!

  • Thank you Jesus for a satisfied mind

  • people always told me that there are songs that make them cry and tingle all over... i had never found i song that made me do either of these..... until i heard this... just somthing about when he goes up and does the high notes towards the end just make me tingle and cry with joy.....

  • Damn i wish he would have finished this in Sony Studios. It would have been great to hear this when it was finished. I mean.... Jeff Buckley layin into a blues SOLO, after a voice like that. Jeez id made mess in my pants

  • I'm 16 and have just been introduced to Jeff Buckley and couldn't believe I was hearing such Genius! The music industry these days seems to be lacking honest amazing music...what's going on?

  • @MaximumProductionz ... good music was over by about 1998... record companies discovered (or rediscovered) that it would be easier to sign unknown's to produce 1-hit wonder songs rather than sign and cultivate an actual group of talented artists. Further compounding the issue was the ADHD generation (no offense) who made such practices not only acceptable, but encouraged. Music is over... sorry... you missed it, and i miss it.

  • he died just before i was one, and i find it so weird that this was the last song he wrote before he died.

  • @jessie2139 he didn't write this song.

  • @lauralegend we all know that .. but he made it his own...

  • @jessie2139 He didn't write this one.

  • I find it very strange to think that Jeff Buckley, were he still alive would be the same age as my mother..very weird

  • I DONT CARE HOW OLD ARE ALL THE FREAKS THAT FEEL PROUD FOR THEMSELVES WHEN THEY LISTEN TO MUSIC 20 YEARS OLDER THAN THEM

  • @themistoklis1984 It's called "good taste".

  • i got chills. the good kind.

  • being an avid music fan i have no idea how I missed this in the 90's. Columbia must not have given him very good PR in his day

  • @reevolution137 yeah - he only produced one album while living - he was on the cusp of a breakthrough... but died just short of his breaking into mainstream... in retrospect - it's probably for the best... mainstream would have distorted what made jeff great

  • @AidanMusik - thanks for watching my video...

  • A lot of the younger generation don't like his music, or any music from to 80's-90s, let alone before that. I've not met many, but I have seen people on sites tell the youngies (that do like his music) that they were too young to appreciate his music while he was alive. There is NO AGE when it comes to appreciating ANY sort of music.

Buckley was a one-and-only. And the fact that people who were 5 when he died like his music now... well, that's just fucking fantastic that his music lives on

  • I was 5 when he died and I am seriously obsessed with jeff's music. he stands alone.

  • @KarboNeTikz well, i'm 18 and i like buckley, and almost all bands from the 90s, also hendrix and all that good stuff.

but then again i also like some modern day rock.. like seether and the mars volta.

not all music today is bad.. the most of it sucks tho

  • @KarboNeTikz

    I was 3/4.

  • We could be so lucky if we could honestly have this played for us, at our funeral like Jeff did.

  • my mom passed away a few months ago and we played this song and 'hallelujah' at her visitation. both are very powerful and extremely emotional. 'satisfied mind' was her song to everyone...just letting people know she's okay. a big thanks to jeff buckley for doing such a beautiful job with this song! i love you mom! may you rest in peace...

  • This song is incredible, the words are magic and true... listen.

  • his live at knitting factory version is INSANE

  • this si epic!!

  • amazing person! rest in peace, jeff ! thanks

  • This song was sang in his funeral... I hope u have a satisfied soul nowadays Jeff wherever you are... thank you! :)

  • I think its the best song of all time, this man has changed my life that's sure. that's so great to think that this is the last song that he wrote ( well techniclly )

  • @HoosiersForever

I'm pretty sure johnny cash wrote this song.

  • @jamesisapain yeah i think too

  • @HoosiersForever "A Satisfied Mind" is a song written by Joe "Red" Hayes and Jack Rhodes. The song came from Hayes' mother. [1] The song has been covered by a variety of well-known artists

  • This my new favorite lyrical song!!! It beat out Moonlight Drive by the Doors! Either way, Jeff had something that very few can ever hope to have, endless amounts of talent and a genuine spirit. Jeff was great, end of story!

  • So touching!!love his voice

  • the best ever, this guy was the absoloute bollocks. i cant even say how much jeff rules my world. he lives on in me, what a legend. the best their ever was and will be.

  • Yea he did.... He was luckier than most humans to be able to indulge in such grand harmony!

  • his range is great but he finds it hard to gel them together

  • @tmurphy83 I think he mostly just "feels" the music and if you've ever seen him live he pretty much goes into a trance like state when he plays. What ever he feels he plays or sings. He doesn't really focus his voice too much, it pretty much just comes out. (If that makes any sense at all.)

  • xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • Jeff is unique, there is no better or worse, Jeff is Jeff.

  • your voice pleases the soul

  • Comment removed

  • It's hard to tell by this picture but it looks like on the right side theres a little bit of soul just oozing out of his nose. Anyone else see that?

  • @elmatto2006 hahaha i like your thinking...but no, i think you may have taken that a little too far.

  • good cover

  • jeff buckley has changed my life, love him forever, R.I.P. JEFF LOVE FROM IRELAND

  • his voice gives me the shivers...

    RIP jeff

  • its not his song. though he does make it his own.

  • Thank you theMusiCandMedicinE for posting this beautiful video ! : )

How many times have you heard someone say,

"If I had money, I would do things my way."

But little they know, that it's so hard to find

one rich man in ten, with a satisfied mind.

Money can't buy back all your youth when you're old,

a friend when you're lonely, or peace to your soul.

The wealthiest person, is a pauper at times

compared to the man with a satisfied mind.

  • Thanks for taking the time to post the lyrics with the words spelled correctly, and written out in a more coherent manner. I had just copied and pasted the lyrics from a site. I put the lyrics you posted in the video description.

  • @3muimui

    Man.. that's so true.

  • @3muimui Well, I am going to be unhappy when I grow up then :( Great what you wrote though.

  • When my life is over and my time has run out,

my friends and my loved ones, I will leave there's no doubt.

But one thing's for certain, when it comes my time,

I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind.

But one thing's for certain, when it comes my time,

I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind mind mind, mind mind,

    satisfied mind.

  • This song has been recorded by a number major artists. It's an old gospel hymn. Don't remember it being sung in church though.

  • These are very mature lyrics, it's funny and I know many JB fans notice that so many of his songs are like prelude's or prophesies speaking of his own passing. Originals and covers, do you think he did this on purpose or was it coinsedence.

  • I think if you asked the man right now about his life he would say, I lived a life full of dreams and hope and fullfillment and lived a life most only dream of if you ask me when I passed on I did it with ease and knew instantly that I passed on with life of a satisfied mind.

  • Well, he sufferred from bipolar disorder, which is a very hard mental disease. Also in 1996 he posted a message on the internet outlining how he missed the intimacy and anonymity of his early years.

So...he was often very depressed and I truly hope that didn't cause his mysterious death...

  • "When My Life Is Over, And My Time Has Run Out,

My Friends and My Lovers, I Will Leave, Theres No Doubt

But One Things For Certain, When It Comes My Time

I'll Leave This Old World With A Satisfied Mind"

    How much I wish u did!<3

RIP JB!! Always the no 1 for me...

  • what makes you think he didnt

nobody lives forever, a lifetime compared to eternity is infinitely small but it is something. I am sure jeff had the essential goods and bads of life

he had the priviledge of being and we still are. and listening to his art tells me he did quite alot with it.

  • Thank you for posting

This beautiful soul has changed my life

  • he does that to alot of people ive happened to notice... i thought i was the only one but his music grabs you

  • jeff is so amazing.. i almost want to go round every jeff video on youtube just to rate it 5*'s

  • Then do it!

  • i believe he one of very few who can hit 8 different octaves with his voice!! and to play guitar so beatufully while doin it is fuckin mezmorisin!!

  • @chamz06 agree brother

  • @zuuked Dude, check out his dad Tim Buckley..

  • @chamz06 Jeff could sing 4 octaves actually. I don't think a human being is capable of singing 8 octaves... maybe if Jeff was still alive he could of gotten there ;-)

  • @rrescozoo5

Tim Buckley Boasted 5 octave range I'm pretty sure jeff was capable of 5

  • @chamz06 the human ear can only hear 8 octaves, he had a great range but he can't sing every pitch humans are capable of hearing

  • @chamz06

    8 octaves more like 5

I've never heard anyone who has an 8 octave vocal range man

  • @chamz06 Except he couldn't hit 8 octaves - you kidding me?? His father had a slightly bigger range and Tim had a 4 octaves though I'm sure had a 4 octave range as well. Still amazing but his range wasn't the impressive thing about this guy.

  • i was like a bull a minute you calmed me down

  • I love jeff buckley's music =)

  • love his work, check out his father Tim Buckley

  • Jeff BUCKLEY HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!

  • mine too :) simply amazing

  • @MissCaptainWeird Mine too man..mine too..

  • @MissCaptainWeird Jeff BUCKLEY HAS SAVED MY LIFE!!!

  • Awsome song! the best version of it that I've herd so far.

  • simply awesome, i couldn't imagine a better wishful thinking sing-a-long song that is so true and so wise...

  • Wie schön, den kannte ich nicht - Danke !
