  • @SOGKnives If SOG is that good, how come its not wildly use in the military? I just bought the SOG Aegis Digi Camo. I've got to say, it would be my last SOG. Compare SOG to other knife company, IMPO SOG is over priced and over rated. I personally love Chris Reeve Knives, William Henry Studio, Benchmade, Ka-Bar, Spyderco and Kershaw better.

  • what about a usmc ka-bar

  • @Lindsey6960 What about it? That it is second best?

  • @SOGKnives - I have a KA-BAR Short USA Fighting/Utility, and to be honest I was a bit disappointed. The fit and finish on my Seal Pup is much better...

  • i have a SOG Fusion-Fixation dagger and i will say even though its more an "economy" line its freaking amazing! keep up the great work SOG

  • @dragon411320 Thanks! We don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

  • I got SOG Tech Bowie

  • I just got the Seal Pup Elite last week from WAL*MART (I was surprised awhile back when I saw them there for $50!). I must say the balance, fit and finish are great, and the knife came out of the package not just razor sharp, but SCARY sharp (that's sharper than razor sharp for knife newbies).

Your website says the Seal Pup is AUS-8 steel, can you confirm this?

I LOVE the sheath by the way. Superb.

  • @Fretfeeler Yup, AUS-8, Hope you enjoy it. If you take any good pics, share them on our fb wall!

  • the SOG knifes are of a very high quality, personally i will continue to buy SOG knifes fore there high effort into making each one, keep up the great work guys

  • @jackylegs1717

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • I'm buying that jungle primitive, i know it's a fusion but it serves so many purposes and would be great for fishing and other outdoor activities. I can't stand owning a knife that is just a blade, it's like owning a $200 steak knife. I have a Ka-Bar for my plain blade.

  • i love the gunny but maybe he could use a sog blade to cut them eye brow hair back a bit. just saying

  • @andrewmag1 the seki knives are excellent...hopefully they will make them again for sogknives...but thanks for the info about seki...i did not know of their extensive knife and sword making history.

  • @andrewmag1 thanks for talking me out of the primitive, i think i'll get the swedge III

  • i do knife reviews & i have about 30 sogs

  • @cbr600rrturbo

message us your best one, we might post it to Facebook.

  • how do you sharpen a knife with like a saw edge

  • @1pelletgun You would sharpen it the same way as a chainsaw or regular saw, with a rod sharpener.

  • @andrewmag1

Thank you for the compliment on our high-end knives. We hope you understand that not all people can afford expensive knives or they want a knife they can beat on without worrying about it or are just starting to collect knives. In the video, Gunny holds several of our top fixed blades like the Creed. Maybe we shouldn't have had him hold the the Primitive, but we think most everyone will not be confused. Contact our warranty dept. about the knives you had problems with.

  • I own a SEAL Pup, I want a Tigershark. >:)

  • Just got my SEAL Team Elite - I must say, SOG Knives are the best I've ever handled.

  • i have the sog specialty knife from seki japan.... a bit pricey...but ya got a knife for a lifetime...if i were to rate it on a 10 scale...it's a 10.

  • well that sir is a knife but the other well theres one thing to say thats not a knife thats a fucking knife

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo Sebenza, where you pay $400 for bullshitass brittle stainless overpriced steel because it says 'Ranger' on the blade....fuckin gay as hell.

  • I got a Gov Agent last night a guy had bought years ago and put away. He didn't like it so I traded him for for it. Damn nice knife.

  • I, have been in the marine corps with this man and he was a back stabing dirtbag.

  • This guy's eybrows would make gandalf blush.

  • Hey Gunny! How about the crap SOG is making in China The blades are not centered. Hard to open. And a really very poor edge. You call that Gunny Approved? I have six knives I just sent back to SOG quality is going down the toilet!

  • He'll still be able to kick your ass when he's 90.

  • I've ordered a Jungle Primitive knife, i am looking forward to seeing it in action, it's expected to arrive within the week, i will be using this as my primary knife if it lives up to my expectations which i am sure it does coming from an official retailer to the armed forces.

  • @chronocentric67 mouthing off like that will get you fucking killed

  • @chronocentric67 marines know a great knife, the ka bar, idk what happened to gunny, he endorses glock over colt too...

  • @jalacy93 Sooooo, you`re still endorsing one of those "hundred-year-old-six-shooter-on-steroids" pistols eh?

They are great guns without a doubt, but you talk as if Glocks are inferior to them...

  • @potatoheadhaoy i didnt really say that, all im saying is i would expect gunny to support the pistol he used for combat

  • I think Gunny's SOG check also may be a reason for his enthusiasm. Me, I'll stick with Ka-Bar's Large Heavy Bowie. Ka-Bars and Cold Steel are what real soldiers carry!

  • the molle nylon sheath is standard in all the SOG knifes??

  • @leomantles no. only a few have the molle

  • @leomantles No, some have leather sheaths.

  • ive got several sog products, ive never had a failure.

  • Hey you lot. I've got an AUS8 Twitch XL and that holds an edge really well. Ive got a couple of other AUS8 knives that loose there edge quick. F Knows??

  • @johnwoodz1220

yepp, it seems SOG knows at least how to heattreat AUS-8 - LOL

Get a knive with a well-heattreated S30V or S90V blade and test it against your Twitch.

Hell, even the older 154CM performs better - though you might get some problems, if you are a Navy Seal and constantly working under salt-water ;-)

  • And what about Kabar ?

  • @5kilz 1095 @ 56-57° HRC - nice edge holding, not for Navy Seals under salt-water LOL

The problem with all these military knives is the low hardness. Thats ok for a soldier, who wanna pierce a cannister of petrol after chopping some wood. The civilian knife-user who doesn´t abuse his knifes but want to CUT things would prefer a 1095 blade @ 59-60° HRC (I do). Problem: IF you abuse a harder blade, it will chip. The softer blade will bend or simply gets dull :-/

  • Buy only AMERICAN. Chicom shit sucks. Keep the jobs at home.

  • @nightrider836 yepp, so I buy GERMAN :-)

Nope, I got a couple of Barkies and some Buck knifes, too. You are right - buy things which are produced by YOUR people (or by ppl who are allies at least).

  • SOG fixed blades: classic blades with very nice finish, handling and sharpness out of the box. Too bad, they don´t stay sharp very long because of the steel :-( AUS8 may be a good choice for Navy Seals cos it´s very rust-resistant, but I guess, only a fracture of the customers are Navy Seals LOL

What else? AUS8 is cheap, readily available in China AND easy and therefore cheaply to machine, especially at hardness under HRC 60. Maybe thats the reason to choose AUS8 ???

    Stay sharp :-)

  • they dont only use ka-bar =o

  • I love kabar but godamn... They just dont get the thicknesses right on their stainless fixed blades. Its nice to rely on sog

  • i wish sog knives didnt cost so much i would love them so much more but im 11 so moneys hard XD

  • HOLLY JESUS!!! WHAT IS THAT! WHAT THE FU#% IS THAT!!!

  • @slientmarksman one big knife!

  • @slientmarksman sog jungle canopy or sog jungle primitive then a tigershark then a tech bowie then a creed

  • @slientmarksman Not a fucking jelly donut! That's for fucking sure!

  • @slientmarksman A Jelly Donut Sir.

  • is the jungle primitive any good?

  • @nay2095 its incredible and super light but the saw on the back doesent work so good

  • @thewistleboy I would suggest taking a sharpener to it. I used my chain saw sharpener to my SOGfari and it cuts like a champ.

  • @chronocentric67

Did you notice the Gunny holding our other very good knives(Tigershark, etc.) You might want to take it up with the Navy Seals who trust their lives to our knives.

  • @SOGKnives sog makes pretty good stuff, all of the throwing knives ive gotten from them have broken at the handle though, all after about 50-75 sticks, and no they didnt hit the ground but maybe 3-4 times

  • Gunny you are a whore.

you offer these knives as if they are best in the world.

man, what a cheap sellout whore you are !

  • Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy fucking walrus-looking piece of shit! Get the fuck off of my obstacle! Get the fuck down off of my obstacle! NOW! MOVE IT! Or I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Private Pyle, IF IT SHORT-DICKS EVERY CANNIBAL ON THE CONGO!

  • I LOVE SOG! When i'm in the field I carry a E37S Seal Pup Elite w/ an SOG S62 Powerlock Multi-Tool in the pouch of the seal pup sheath. I know the pouch is intended for a sharpening stone but I would much rather have the Mutli-Tool close at hand and a steel in my pack. On hunting trips I carry the SOG FP-3. It's great for breaking down game and is one of the SOG's more inexpensive knives w/ AUS-8 steel! I'm amazed that this one doesn't receive more chatter.

  • COLD STEEL, THE REAL DEAL SORRY GUNNY

  • @jagrench62 woot yeah COLD STEEL

  • @jagrench62 i have had cold steel knives and SOG knives and i have found that they are not really very different. blade steel isnt everything and SOG has excellent AUS-8

  • haha i like this guy

  • Why are you endorsing a product made in china R. Lee?

  • @MrEhud77

Made in China. Designed in the US.

    Like a LOT of stuff.

    Get over it.

  • @SwollenCranium I'll get over it when people like you realize that China is where all our jobs went thanks to Global "Free" trade and that we will never have a stable economy until the U.S. becomes as self suffeciant as possible.

  • @MrEhud77 YOU ARE SO RIGHT AND THE COMMIE AMERICAN HATERS SENT THOSE JOBS THERE TO MAKE CHINA STRONGER. the whole environmentalist movement is also anti american. they want to use their cause to cripple our factories. wake up america.

  • @MrEhud77

cause he is getting paid well.....what do you think ?

  • the only problem is that sog charges way too much and special forces are issued all kind of knives but i think if you take in price and quality ka bar and cold steel are far better than sog plus ive used sog knives and they just simply arent as good as cold steel and kabar seal pups were a let down and the whole fusion series pretty much blows

  • SOG Knives are very nice indeed. Yesterday I finaly got my hands on the SOG Tigershark S5 (serrated) with kydex sheeth and a SOG Tigershark plain edge with the square logo (the old one without the blade in the logo). This one is a little bitt darker grey and I highly suspect it for beeing a SK-5 :) Getting that confirmed soon.

  • @wolfenburger The SOG Tigershark actually has AUS-8 steel.

I just got the Tech bowie, and it has AUS-8, let me tell you I am loving it!

  • Sog: where you pay upwards to 300$ for Aus 8 steel!!

    NO THANKS!!!

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo the only $300 + knives by sog are VG-10

  • @viper100290 Even that is too much! If I'm planing to be spending that much on a knife it wont be with sog...

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo i agree its overpriced. however just about every knife company has overpriced models even cold steel

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo Protip: Don't buy off the website. buy them from retailers. they always sell them for less. i bought a 300 dollar knife for 40 bux at Bass Pro Shops.

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo maybe if you got a job instead of writing comments about how you can't afford something you will have enough!

  • Comment removed

  • @koenigsegg1166 LOL not quite bud.

Fuckin Fan boys. Sorry but It's the truth. There's plenty of knife company's that make there knives in the U.S.A, with better steel, at a better cost/value then sog does. Maybe if you took a look around instead of running your mouth about people you don't know, you'd actually realize how fucking ignorant your really are. Now run along back to your bowling ally or where ever your white trash mother popped you out.

You carry your sog and I'll carry my Sebenza.

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo - Wait, you are saying that for instance a $310.00 Sebenza Green Beret knife is a better cost/value than a SOG Seal Pup for $50.00? I think you sir may be smoking crack.

  • @oTHEBLESSEDHELLRIDEo its not just that but if you want a cheap ass knife that won't last longer than a year go ahead no one is stopping you

  • I couldn't agree more with him, they are awsome blades.

    grtz

  • SOG knives are excellent. I have the Pentagon and the Navy SEAL 2000 and am thinking of buying the Trident. Just am a little disappointed that they've changed the design of the Tigershark.

  • "" What is your major malfunction Soldier!! Where is your SOG Knife ! "" haha imo, ""Gunny"" is his title forever ! A quick question though, I would have thought a Rock would have been the 1st tool ??

  • Awesome, all of these with R lee Ermey are awesome and people dont know what SOG really is until they use them!

  • @ArmyBoyRFA

Exactly! I didn't think very highly of their knives just from online photos and videos, but you have to hold them in your hands, and feel there balance and especially the edge!

  • @CubworksLL I just wish they would upgrade their steel from AUS8 to something better!

  • @ArmyBoyRFA

    Hey have you used AUS-8?

Cause it is one of the better steels and I do really like it so far, I like it every bit as much as VG-10 or 1095.

  • @CubworksLL Yes i have and i have many of SOG's knives with it, i just think its a soft steel that doesnt hold an edge, its ok for edc but beyond that it really doesnt have anything special!

  • @ArmyBoyRFA Huh, well I kinda dissagree there, but oh well! lol

About the only thing I think is much better is like CPM 154, 154CM, or S30V.

I haven't actaully used S30V, but everyone is always talking and talking about it! Have you used it?

  • @CubworksLL No i havent used it but ive heard great things about it, same with spyderco's H1 steel! Right now im really interested in the Benchmade 741 Onslaught. Looks like a great blade.

  • @ArmyBoyRFA

Yes but the H1 won't even be up to AUS-8 for edge holding and retention.

The whole idea was to get a steel for the salt water fishing industry that was comparable with other good steels.

Cause all super steels will not last a day exposed to salt water. But if that is what you want H1 for then go for it!

  • @CubworksLL WOW that not what i heard at all, i heard H1 is a great EDC steel but if you are right and it has less edge retention then AUS-8 then i wouldnt be interested because AUS-8 in my opinion doesnt hold an edge at all. But thanks for the info bro!

  • @ArmyBoyRFA No problem, but hey....I haven't actually used H1 before so I don't KNOW this.....better get a hold of Spyderco and see what they say.

Hey by the way, I am building a 16 inch survival knife out of S30V! We'll see if the claims are true about that steel!
