"transition"? It's ext depth... and turning that down isn't as good as this method if you want to be able to properly fit it into your scene in terms of colour and light.

Sorry just realised that I sounded like a right douche.

So here it is, it looks complicated but its not -

Make a comp with the text (so comp in a comp)

Alt + Click the Position keyframe clock of the text comp (where you text is)

Write - value+[0,0,index]

The add "Brightness and Contrast" to the comp and Alt Click Brightness Position Clock

Write - (index-2)*(-6)

Then go to the comp window and select Custom View 1 and Duplicate the text about 20 times. Vola 3D text.

Sounds complicated but its not once you've done it. Its just like Ronalds why but automated and less chance of error. I also find its less bright (because of brightness & contrast adjustment)
