Very happy to see these clips. For what it's worth I thought the Opera singer did the best on the evening I saw it. I've got to admire Jarvis Cocker and even Damon Allbran for trying to sing these songs; Scott being one of the best recorded voices ever and the technical demands, re-creating what (as I heard) Scott only ever does once. An amazing evenng which I never thought I'd see / here again. I'm very happy I have – the rest of my office is not so sure!
This is what happens when the great and the good rush in to pay homage........there's a dark comic irony at work here which I think Scott would appreciate.......
Jarvis sucks here but it does make you think its possible for Scott to do something live...like the newspaper reading though since all the lyrics are reviews.
you are all so off the mark. Jarvis did a really good job. he had the swagger, obviously he isn't doign a scott walker impersonation, and he doesn't sound the same, but none of the performers did at the show. but that didn't matter at all. I think jarvis was spot on
I completely agree. Jarvis knew what he was doing, with the paper etc. Of what I've heard Jarvis' contribution was by far the best. The less said about Damon "Allbran" the better. Unless Scott decides to tour (which wouldn't be bad, if highly unlikely) we will never hear these songs "live", so lets just enjoy them as we can. On headphones, really loud.

Oh dear, what a load of rubbish. He's just speaking it. It's awful. I was just listening to The Drift before I happened upon this. They should have got someone who could sing to do this song. I could have done better than this.
I was there Saturday. Waited so very long to see something of Scott's work live - that the whole thing was loaded, nerve-wracking, and very emotional. I had previously moaned about Scott not singing, but within two minutes I realised his reasons: if he had sung it would have been about him, a kind of comeback, rather than the music. It was the music we saw and heard - and it really was the most powerful and amazing live experience I've had. I've followed the man for years. All worth the wait.
Witnessed this truly awesome piece of theatre on Saturday night. It is refreshing to hear different voices doing these songs, gives another angle to it somehow and makes it more interesting. Well done to both director and PRODUCER I say !!
Anybody who judges a performance based on terrible audio quality videos is a shitehead.

me loves me some Jarvis, but this kind of thing just makes me so much more conscious of the fact that Scott's voice is irreplaceable.

Hmm I wish he'd record it.

The music is great. The vocalist is so far off that it hurts.

Dunno if it is pure - it is just ordinary shite to me. But shite it is, with a capital S.

omg jarvis truly sucks at this :D
don't get me wrong, i love him in his own stuff,

properly...
scott ftw!
too bad we have to wait another 8 years for the next album huh? :D

He has a limited voice, but somehow it works. I dunno, i think its the britishness about him.. anyway, I love Jarvis and this show was wonderful.

I love Drift & I used to like Pulp - Jarvis always made good use of his limited voice, but this is fucking dreadful.
Should've strung Jarvis up & got the boxer to knock 7 shades of shite out of him, instead of the dead pig.
Even Damon Albarn's feeble bleeting was better than this. Criminal!
