Hi, Thanks for commenting. I think I said "A bandit, lying in ambush". That is to say, Epictetus knew that there was a "part of himself" which could be evil, and work against his Stoic philosophy, his commitment to live a moral life - and this "part" is what I call the Bad Wolf. If you are not careful - attentive to the danger - then your Bad Wolf will "sneak up on you" and encouage you to act immorally. The voice of the Bad Wolf can sound like the sweet whisper of an angel.
