I can offer a solution, as an expert inn carpark noise and it's a quiet solution. But if you don't see you have a You Tube problem with carpark noise then, as an expert in noise at the Barbican then you HAVE A PROBLEM. And I can solve ypour problem, simply next time at the barbican, don't take the camera - oh how they laughed.
Or when the world is falling apart and torture is exposed to the world, and ahhhhhh... perhaps I'll see you at Philip Glass ;-)
I was there as well - briliant. The acoustics were amazing - I lost myself in the sound so many times - however I happen to be an expert on car noise and I can see you have a problem in videos.
Great information! I was more specifically interested in the genre of music Laurie is adhering to at the moment.Electronic? Avante Garde? Peruvian Samba?
Ah well, it was very electronic but there was a bass guitarist and violinist which helped create a quite melancholy and introspective mood. She is expert at doing this anyway, but I actually preferred this new material and found it even more powerful than usual. :)
It was sensational, the acoustics in that venue are superb. The musicians she had with her were all brilliant and it all worked beautifully. The bass was most impressive, shaking your insides and forcing your attention.
i love her for her electronics basically. as long it's electronic, spooky and has her talking over it, then i'm into it!

Perfectly laudable reasons! So a similar vein to 'Only An Expert' thematically. What was it like musically?

If only you'd used your mobile to procure some footage of the show instead!
I realized yesterday that I just narrowly missed the Uk shows she's done recently.
If only I'd check the homepage sooner...
What material did she perform?

Hi Ruby,
I didn't want to record footage of her, for two reasons -
1) I might have got thrown out!
2) It would have been a poor imitation of the live experience.
It was all new material, taken fromt he forthcoming Homeland album due for release in early 2009.
It was very political and topical and focused on the USA.
