No, it's a Marshall MG30DFX. And the Peavey most definitely sounds loads better. The MG has decent cleans and effects but the overdrive tones are not that good. The sound gets really muddy past 4 or 5 and doesn't get any louder whereas the Peavey sounds better the louder it is.
Im looking in to buying my first full tube amp around new year, and I really like this, but i heard it had terrible clean's. Whats your opinion on this?
It depends on how often you use cleans or want them. You can get some decent cleans like in the beginning of my video here: watch?v=9xL34QZVkZc but the amp is mainly suited for metal. I don't use cleans too much so it doesn't bother me but if you want better cleans you may want to look into the Peavey ValveKing 112. I tried it out to while testing this one and it has good cleans but isn't as suited for heavier music. But that's why you have pedals!
@JustSomeRandomNewb this is a high gain amp, if youre looking for clean tones you would be better off with a peavey classic 30 or 50, but id replace their stock speakers.
It has two speaker outs in the back (the speaker inside is connected to one) so you can plug in an extra cab. I think the combo is perfect just because you don't have to lug a head + cab and at 60 watts tube it has more than enough power to hold its own. And most decent places you play at will have a PA system so they'll mic the amp anyway. But it's all up to your needs. Try them both out!
@FEAROWNAGE I haven't cranked it fully but I'm guessing pretty loud. It's a tube amp so it's tone will sound better the louder it is. When I recorded this I think I had it at 1 or 1.5 and it was before I did the patch cable mod. At 2 or higher is when the tone comes out but I haven't put it past 3 because it's pretty damn loud haha.
Itried this amp over the weekend and the lead channel is awesome but i wasnt impressed with any other part of it. That had a patch cable in the fx loop too so it might be a common mod ;0)
it is a bit harder to get good tone on the rhythm channel and even harder to get crisp cleans but you just need to mess around with it. what i do when i want cleans is put it on the rhythm channel, use my neck pickup, and just roll back on the volume. the loudness doesn't change much but you get a cleaner sound.
@ImperialKiriyama Yea cheers I tried that. Im still really impressed with the lead channel tho so impressed that i bought it today. My gigs are clearly split enough to justify having it for the mental metal ill just have to keep my orange for the classic rock and the cleans that i use on my weekend gigs and use the peavey with the band. Cheers dude.
Have the same amp... A tip, but a normal instrumentcabel (1/4", patchcabel) between fx loop (send & return) and the distortion, bass, treble and everything will boost. This amp has really internal signal loss, but if you but the cabel just from send back to return. It will sound awsome. Trust me
@userapan no joke, man. you were right! putting a patch cable made a BIG difference, it had more cut and definition to it and more gain too. weird how it works haha.
@ImperialKiriyama@userapan Hey just wanted to let you guys know i have the same amp and noticed the boost with the fx loop engaged....i called Peavey HQ and told the engineers this after a long series of conversations with the music shop i was dealing with, they didn't realize this and admitted to it being a design flaw. being the amp was new to me they fixed the situation by putting a capacitor in the board which quieted the loop down and made in indistinguishable. hope that info helps!

Not as far as I know. I think it looks cool though!

@InDarkAges stop asking on every vid for this amp. if you want it off, just cut the fucking wires that connect it to any power source

@deathcore1239 I asked on as many videos as I could at the same time so that it would guarantee a quick response.

I think you can dial in a very good metal rhythm tone on the crunch channel, but you must give up on having any kind of clean tone.
