I don't think we can rule out God by using the materials that we have available on earth.I give her respect for stating what she believes but all she did is shows us little glimpses of the Universe and made a philisophical statement at the end. In reality we don't know what its like to be dead, we dont know what is reality out there in the universe we can only assume by using the evidence that is physically available to us. If seeing is believing I haven't seen shit.
But we do know what it is like to be dead, but most people find the reality very hard to accept, which is understandable, death is a scary concept, but you die, other animals die. You can't last forever, that is the fact of life, so treasure it while it is still yours, try and learn as much as you can and make as many friends as you can, and leave a positive memory behind. That is all we can do, and it is amazing we can do that.
Exactly. We DO know what it's like to be dead. They're near-death experiences, NDE's. The people are scientifically dead for a few minutes- even their brains stop working temporarily, but only temporarily, wait too long and they're gone for good. And the people are revived and most often talk about leaving their body, finding themselves in some sort of tunnel (?) with a light at the end, etc. so yeah, we DO have some proof what it's like to be dead
This is a very interesting phenomenon, but it is quite well understood. It is not seeing heaven or any equivalent, it is a hallucination your brain conjures up when it is under extreme stress (e.g when you are dying). Similar experiences occur when training fighter pilots and astronauts to withstand incredible G-forces, and many report prior to passing out, experiencing visions such as lights at the end of a tunnel.
if you're falling down from a good height, you may believe you will die, but be knocked out without any deathly damage, and not have seen an NDE.
NDE's occur when the person not only believes they are going to die- *BUT AFTER THEY ARE SCIENTIFICALLY DEAD- in other words, all of their organs stop working temporarily. Your brain can't conjure up something while it doesn't work.
That's what separates having a dream after blacking out from an NDE.
@anguirusreturns I'm sorry and I realize you wrote this 2 years ago but you are so wrong I cannot begin to tell you with character limits. The ND stands for Near Death. Keywords here. People have been brought back after 2 hours of being dead as a door nail frozen to death and had nothing like that. Seriously no experience was had with the actual dead people. Nothing to report at all. People decapitated can actually look up at their bodies for several minutes after being whacked off at the neck!
Her non-religion, non-christianity scientific orgasm falls dismally short of convincing new martyrs to her (bury grandma with a scientific happy-face)non-faith.
Because it is a meaningless notion that reveals that you don't know what "theoretical" means. Gravity is a theory. So lets use the Bible instead of the THEORY of Gravity when we design airplanes.
@ibelin1 - "Science is only theoretical" - Jeeez. Theoretical like the computer and the Internet you are using? Are those only theoretical too, or are they real??? All the modern electronics shuffle around electrons and photons, and this is done based on the laws of quantum theory. Quantum theory also couples with cosmology, and the questions of the Big Bang. Yes, science is REAL, because you can use your computer to post your ignorant responses.

Martyrs? Good heavens, no. We leave self-negation to the faithful, and instead bask in the majesty of nature as revealed by science.

I have no fear of death. I was dead along time before I was born.

Science and Religion and Syncretism
Science- systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
Religion- the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
Syncretism- the merging of two or more originally different inflectional forms.
