@DarthFanta Know what annoys ME most? The "Fate" story doesn't even HAVE an alternate route! I mean, UBW and HF get two different ending, but why doesn't Saber deserve to live. It's not like living a full life with Shirou (because she'd live unaging without Avalon) would change her past, it would just be giving her the chance at LIVING she never had.

And I HATE that "special" ending, because it's only Together in Death - it's not the same, I HATE it!!

For me, I find the implication that not only can they not be happy in LIFE - but that it's the ONLY happy ending Nasu gave us - to be a grave insult. It might just be myself, but because I hold Fluufy-Cloud-Heaven in UTTER contempt (in fiction, at least), I do not find such endings life-affirming, which for ME is what happiness is all about.

I mean, they're DEAD.

You might disagree, but I will not bend to popular opinion just for its own sake.

What, I can't recognise the artistic value in something whilst totally and utterly wishing for its death? After al, many who watched 'Code Geass' and 'Death Note' - while recognising their artistic value - STILL hated that the endings were so sad they wanted to die.

I've been there - plus, in a multiple ending universe, Saber NOT getting to live isn't beautiful, it's insulting and just plain cruel.
