These parachutes have been very reliable for more than 50 years. I've seen a 200lb guy land a C-9 with a full gore blown out, without injury, good PLF. And, I had a full inversion and many small holes throughout the canopy, on the same jump, when I saw he wasn't going to toss his reserve, I cut 2 more lines in the back next to a broken line, so I could steer, and landed my malfunction safely, albeit harder than normal.

how ever they dont call these jumps HALO , these are crew rescue jumps and they are using T-10D or MC1-1C parachute instead of square ram air parachute .
@AMIRAGHA1101 No, none of those were T-10 or MC1-1 parachutes, those were all C-9 aircrew emergency parachutes, 28 ft, flat, circular with 4-line release to steer. And, yes we did log them as HALO because they were freefall, not static line jumps. And the Air Force has more HALO jumpers than the Army. from the guy who took a lot of this video.

These type of trainings is just for NAVY and AIR FORCE air crew and pilots ,How ever fighter pilots using ejection and thats something different , Army and marrines not using T-10D round parachute for free fall ( T-10D and MC1-1C are the same type of parachute for Airborne static line parachutes but you can use it without static line for a free jump )
My 1st seargent's nuts got caught in his leg straps! That tough S.O.B.still finished out the schooling! I never had a malfunction or equipment issues, but civilian jumping is much better!!!
Piece of shit military chute, hated them damn things. Not for malfunctions, but for the descent velocity, to damn fast. Feet, Ass, back of the head, the true PLF, hahaha!
Yea, well it depends on where your jumping at. depending on the altitude of the state your in its lower or higher, where im at your right I can't jump above 12,000ft without oxygen because on east coast I can go up to 15k without oxygen.. curious you in the military?

None of those were a low opening, they were all just normal jumps, HALO is regularly from around 40,000 feet, and opening at below 2,000 feet. Those were all high openings. HAHO at best.

Great video overall!! I am a little biased, since I shot most of the C-9 stuff. Some good stories there. Test Parachutist training at Edwards AFB.

Had many a jump using the C-9 canopy; believe they were "cut" to a "7 TU" configuration. (1968 through 1975, B-6370)
