@MonifaAdebola Its annoying to see that "cult" term. being jamaican, i know one of the issue is that as we were taught to demonize our African traditions, viewing them as cults or devil worshiping was the next natural thing. its sickening. many see these things and assume devil worshiping right away.
thanks for posting this. I have a Jamaican friend that has taught me some Kumina, but watching this answers some of the questions I had that she couldn't answer, like do men dance Kumina.
Thank you for posting this on You Tube. I have seen another Jamaican Dance Group perform the "Kumina"- but I guess you can't beat the original. Seeing this I am immediately transported to the Hills of Jamaica, with the moonlight, and the sounds of drums in the background. Great job, thanks again.
I loved this piece for sooo long, it took me years to get my hands on it so i had to share it with the world. I found it a travesty that there was not one minute of it on the web. I thought the death of Rex Nettleford would have spurred an onslaught of content being on the web, but i was wrong. So, i figured i would be the first. If you liked kumina may i recommend gerrehbenta
God dammit! I'm kumina drummer from Europe and I adore this speed! Great work!
