  • From what I've heard there's no way of filming without that pesky datestamp.

If this is true then it's a dealbreaker for me I'm afraid.

  • I sort of have a way around the date stamp issue. The camera takes video at 640 x 480, but I upload to Youtube at 480 x 360. So I've cropped the video to remove the date stamp.

Most of the shots in the Athearn F59PHI are done this way.

Another way if you want the full width would be to put a black band along the bottom.

  • I'd be tempted to see if it comes apart and can be modified to put inside a box car, or even inside the cab of a (dummy) locomotive... Depending on what it costs of course.. wouldn't want to destroy a £200,- camera...

Where did you get it by the way! :-)

  • It is only 50mm tall so is shorter than a loco, notice that when clipped to the gondola there is large gap under it to the track.

I plan to build or modify a car to lower the lens to cab window height.

I plan to try putting it sideways at trackside to give a HO scale eye height view.

    It was £65 from Amazon.

  • That's great footage for such a small camera :-)

  • Yes I've been waiting for one small enough to come out at a reasonable price. It focuses down to about 6", I think a longer gondola would have put the rear loco in focus.

I'm going to use it at our next meeting on the modular layout.
