  • I just got back from Kibaya a month ago, it's an incredible place and the rainy season came early for them which was a blessing..

I miss it loads, and I recognise some of the kids here! Good times.

  • Oh wow!

It's so great to meet you

How long where you there.... did you go with the Bishop?

  • I went out for two months, Bishop John had already come back to the UK at that point but yes we stayed at KCC where he used to be.

Have you ever thought about going out there?

  • My son would have left there then by the time you went out..... so i don't suppose you know each other but you may have seen the sign he took with him where it shows KCC twinned with his school here.

I don't think i could go out there myself...but i'm very proud of my son, and you, and others for doing so

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • You might have meant Bishop Isaiah though from the next video? The tanzanian Bishop? He was there but we didn't have much to do with him as he's not a um, great person.

I think I know the sign you mean actually! Did he have anything to do with building the library?

What's your sons name? I got asked about all the mzungu (white people) who had every gone out there whilst there.

  • I have just rung my son and told him to look at your comments here...he says he will message you

  • It is very humbling to visit these people and put our own lives into perspective as you say we take so many things for granted. This video wonderfully expressed your son's experiences in Tanzania and I feel privileged to have shared in his experience. The clothes are so vibrant in colour too!..and wide huge smiles :-) Thanks for sharing, Twish. Jacquie (UK) x

  • Wow what beautiful and proud people! What organization did he teach through? I'm interested in doing this myself for a couple of weeks.

  • I was glad to see this one again, Twish - there were more things in it this time? The face of the little boy in red, looking up at the camera and smiling is wonderful. Your son is a treasure. I know you are proud - tell him I am too. - roc

  • Yes i improved the image quality and added the footage of the tribal dance and of the children singing goodbye to Andrew at the end.

I am much happier with the quality of the video now. (new editing suite is excellent)

  • Wow this was a wonderful thing you son did. I wonder where they get all the colorful fabric that they wear. I think it is great that they have it to brighten up there world there.

  • I will ask my son about the fabric, i know their ordinary clothing is mainly donated from USA and Canada :-)

    x hugs x

  • What a beautiful country. It must have been very rewarding for your son.

The people of Kibaya have so very few material items, yet they look as they live in joy.

    We have it so wrong.

We CAN change the world, all you have to do is love every human being. So simple yet so difficult.

    Love and peace to all.

  • You are right, it is a beautiful country but they just do not get the rain enough. They are also very beautiful people inside and out :-)

I agree with everything you said :-)

    x hugs x

  • Such disparity is truly a bothersome thing. Then I read about a guy from London that placed an engagement ring in a balloon which escaped him in a gust of wind and now his fiancé to be won't speak to him until he buys her another ring.

Most of us don't know how truly great we have it.

What a remarkable act of kindness your son gave.

  • I believe he should agree to those terms.

  • I agree :-)

  • Thank You Joseph

You are so right, we are all spoiled and take so much for granted.

My son found that not being able to have a daily bath or shower was difficult, but much worse was eating breakfast knowing that the children at the school don't get a meal until the evening due to lack of funds :-(

    x hugs x

  • WHOA! What a COOOL video! This one was totally unexpected! What amazing images! I'm always fascinated to see what things are like in places like that! Thanks for putting this all together for us!! You're awesome!

  • lol :-) *hello!!!!!!*

  • The reason it is important to teach English in Tanzania (where Swahili itself is usually a second language for many of the inhabitants, but the Lingua Franca of East Africa), is because it has become the Lingua Franca of higher education in Tanzania. The language of the universities (as Latin was for European universities until not too long ago), and thus a language that must be spoken at university level to even gain access.

    English=Education.

  • I agree, thank you so much :-)

    x hugs x

  • Hi Twish, That's a very honorable thing he did!! I Love teacher's especially the ones that are there to REALLY TEACH children!!
