its almost a year ago now. I think that what I meant at the time, that even muslims can enjoy great jewish plays. That we can enjoy the beauties from one another, without resorting to personal attacks.
that's Horowitz for you. I like that he sacrifices 100% note accuracy for a beautiful and exciting interpretation. That's one of the reasons he was called the "Last Romantic."
your a stoopid poopie face for cutting this amazing peace. i'm two jewish two even listen two the hole thing. Oar maybe im just retarded four knot reading the descripshin wear it clearly states why you cut it. oh well. 5STARS! :D
Sorry, I think it's a very odd decision to post this, and then make cuts. You could have divided it into 2 videos as others have done with this piece. I was too frustrated to listen all the way through.
Judging by what I'm listening, Horowitz is the only one who plays the crescendo (or più forte) at stormy 04:23. Also he plays it in a more interesting way than many others, including Zimerman, with more complex rubatos. And the ligatures are interpreted in a more emotive way IMO.
To my sense(s) :-) he's not, atl least NOT for Chopin. Not much power, not much depth, not much insight - emotionally or intellectually. But not the greatest musician :-(((,
it may sound exaggerated, but if you compare with those greatest interpretations, it is a little shallow and mundane and really NOT reflecting the character
I love horowitz and have quite a few of his recordings, and this recording was largely good... But the end is just... way to heavy for one, riddled with wrong notes, and with strange tempo changes. Just my impression, although I still love horowitz and what he's done with so much other music.
no habia escuchado antes la 4ta balada por horowitz, de hecho no me gustó casi nada sin embargo es interesante oir diferentes puntos de vista de grandes pianistas.
yep, have to have the full recording.. This ballade is absolutely wonderful, and you cut my very favorite part. it is the last cut that you made. when the final uplifting theme starts. Thanks for the posting though. Great to listen, and get the full recording if you can
what i like about horowitz is his unconventionality. it always makes you reflect on the notes and lines and their meanings in the scores. he's always that interesting player highlighting lines that other pianists dont. and hey kachukeland, is the full recording coming yet?
no, I don't have the video version. This is from a CD...
Chopin: Piano Music
Vladimir Horowitz
In my opinion, this is the greatest recorded perfomance of this piece. In close second is Ingrid Fliter, and her coda is just as impressive as Horowitz's.
The best playing I've heard of this was a fragment of Richter's live performance in Mantova. Try searching "Richter Ballade". I wish I had the full performance!
yes! That is awesome!! although I don't entirely agree with how he holds that low C after part with all the chords in a row (does that make sense?) lol
That's actually one of my favourite parts! What he did there is innovative, and I've never heard the sostenuto pedal so effectively used. There are a bunch of theoretical motivations for doing that, but on the surface the contrast it provides adds to the drama of that section.
Yes, nice video you have here. Oh yeah, remember when you say "uncut", don't add the - to it. Trust me, try it out in Microsoft Word to see what I mean. I give this video 3 stars.
please give us full recording !

Maybe not too many of those people as a good part of the posts are about why is it good to cut it. :-)
I would have removed it if I uploaded the full version. But anyway, OK, doesn't matter and sorry for me being rude.
