  • Proud to be scottish :)

I actually love all of her songs

  • Yes Dougie's version is great and I have heard many good versions of this song but for me Amy's is way out in front.

  • Dougie Maclean, no one can better his version in my opinion,

  • Paolo Nutini does a WAY better version! fantastic song tho, makes ye proud te be Scottish! YET AGAIN! x

  • Very unique approach to the song. Simple and pure, yet passionate and robust musical quality. Love your version.

  • First time ever ive gave my opinion on you tube ....so how tastes differ.... I loooove that in her voice..Sooo let me tell you that | love you ..COLD???......it is FULL of emotion, what cant you hear?? keep singing Amy .best wishes ...from an ex-pat Paisley..x

  • Love Her!

    3>

  • i like amy macdonald, but she totally ruined this song, which is so very sad because it is one of my favourites! i mean, her voice is so COLD when she's singing "let me tell you that i love you", which should be sooo full of emotions (that's what i love about this song usually)

  • I never tire of listening to this Amy, ignore the half-wits who comment here and remember the positive comments :)

  • @777chachu: My Mother is dead, Only wished Amy Mc Donald was! you stupid 19 year old bitch........!!!

  • respect to the scots

  • Ah ....I WANT TO BE BACK IN MY HAMELAND

  • This needs to be longer.

  • paulo nutinis version is 100 times better!!!!!!!!

  • she's a fucking hun bitch!

  • @JONBHOY1957 likes your mother :P

  • Whoever told Amy Mac Donald she can sing needs to be locked away - the girl has a voice like a cry for help!!! I got 21 seconds into this clip and i had to stop her ruining one of my favourite songs. It was the same thing at Hampden of few weeks ago she murdered our national anthem. Please keep her away from other peoples songs especially those that instill national pride. Thank You. (rant over - i feel 2 stone lighter now i've got that off my chest)

  • We need your help!

Interested in Scottish culture and the future of our country?

  • this song brings the tears every time....

  • I prefer Paolo's version but I still like this

  • not the real thing, kind of phony

  • Oh Amy, let me tell you that I love you, and can't get you out of my head!

  • I think this version sucks very very much Lisa kelly - caledonia is the best version i think :)

  • Delores Keane best version by far!

  • how in the name of god can 45 not like this, are they mental ????

  • I love this version but i still think Celtic thunder's version is the best.

  • @TheMrVeggis i agree with that

  • love paolo nutini's version as well!

  • ALBA GU BRATH!! scottish and proud,:)

  • Wonderful song but is it hers or paolo nutini´s? Oo

  • @Chokoteru Neither, Dougie Maclean.

  • @arcticm88 aaah.. xD thx

  • This makes me really proud to be Scottish! <3 x

  • This is a beautifully emotional song. Half of my family is Scottish, and this song puts me close to that half... Amazing song.

  • i love being scottish this song makes me proud and honored to be a scot

  • seestadt99 its Scottish!

  • omg! i love being scottish, we sung this song for our leavers assembly and everyone was crying.. scotland is the best place to live, i love it (L) xxx

  • i like this song but the end just does it all for me cmon the scotts

  • Sorry, good try but only Dougie can sing this correctly!

  • I am a bit confused. So in another video they show the Irish flag while this song. Actually I thought this song "means" Scotland.

Is there anybody who could help me solving this question?

    Thank you in advance.

  • @seestadt99 Hi! You are right, this is a Scottish song, originally written in the 70s by Dougie MacLean who was born in Scotland. Caledonia is the old name for Scotland during Roman times.

  • MY mothers family are all scottish i love scotland :) it really is a lovely place :)

  • i feel so proud to be scottish :D! xx

  • i prefer paolo nutinis version to hers but its still a good version

  • what wonderful phrasing. guitar should be plucked rather that strummed. Key change would be nice. Bagpipes are a very nice touch. COSMIO PROPELLOR?

  • Great voice, and accent!

  • This is actually a cover original

Rolling Home - Fries om utens

  • @Jildou18

Och, come on? Her name's MacDonald FFS! Dougie MacLean wrote it!

  • hey zag, have alook at.. na rionnagan.. do this

  • Golly! I usually don't miss a siren of your caliber. You're a pleasure to listen to. I'm thrilled to have finely discovered your music. I hope you dont' mind If I down purchase your albums on Amazon. I wish you a long a successful career!

  • Scotland is back on the rise; Margo, Alex (Politial figures), Paulo Nutini, Amy McDonald, (Musical Talents) ,who's next ? The Scots are great people. That's what I think.

  • I will push "like it" button ten thousand time, if can be done. But it can't;( Love this song, one of her best for me. Unlucky, it wasn't on her album I bought... Polish version don't have hidden tracks, shit...

  • and it makes me proud to be even half scottish :D

    i love amy!!!!

  • its a lovely version.....but u cant beat frankie miller...sorry!

  • @jedlad31 agreed gd song but Frankie Miller the best 1

  • S C O T T I S H R U L E S ! ! !

  • All a matter of opinion of course. Eileen Laverty also does a good version but Amy's unique voice is # 1 in mine.

  • niceeee...but prefer Paolo's version..:p got more feel to it somehow...well just my honest opinion

  • @TuBBygch Yes, Paulo's terrific, but surely even he would defer to the composer's original (Dougie M of course!)

  • Did that troll, still think Na Rionnagan Do it better. Their gig at the Barrowlands was amazing, have a look tell me what you think

  • Loooovee it ! xxx

  • I think I like Lisa Kelly, from Celtic woman, better than this... or even leon jackson, I don't really like how she changed it a bit in tempo. It's a shame because she has a great voice

    :(

    -jen

  • She sounds like a Russian try to sing it in English, Go oan hen sing it wi' a Scotish accent!

  • A great song but she is butchering it! Whatever about putting your own stamp on it, but don't ruin it!

  • makes you proud to be scottish :)

and i like how she is beating the stereotypes:)

  • Definitely my fav version of Caledonia. :))

  • well seen you never looked at ,, na rionnagan,, 123, Their version is second to dougies paolo comes 3rd.

  • So ein wunderschönes Lied. :)

    - Es macht mich gleich sentimental...

  • Paolo Nutini does the best version by a mile!

  • agree with lex...na rionnagan.. at the barrowlands do this amazing

  • This the better.

  • this song makes me proud to be a half scottisch girl.

  • Never been in scotland but thanks to amy she shows they have talent haha.

Amy alone can conquer the world with her amazing music.

She is so amazing and makes great music.

  • lisa kelly (celtic woman) is better

  • Did anyone look at..Na Rionnagan.. sing this its awesome, plz leave at comment for them. They also do a mix of mr rock n roll and the black eye peas. Go have a look youll love their songs. Thanks

  • not a good version, good song, good singer, but didnt mix.....

  • Its a Scottish Folk Ballad not an Irish folk song. im a Texan and i know that muireann.

  • lovely song. have a look at

na rionnagan....They are all 12 years old playing the barrowlands its amazing.

  • it would also make much more sense if she sings about scotland 'cause she's schotish herself.

  • @wolfjeanne Caledonia is Latin for Scotland.

  • @31pretz I know, if you'll look back a view pages, it's all over the comments.

  • na rionnagan....do an amazing version of this and mr rock and roll. on you tube

  • nice job. na rionnagan... do this brill on u tube

  • Comment removed

  • caledonia is the latin name giving to SCOTLAND by the romans

  • Huh? caledonia=scottish! lol! no harm no foul though!

  • with all respect but is Caledonia not the Latin name for Scotland ?

  • @muireann1000 How can Caledonia bee an Irish folk song? Caledonia is Scotland...

  • Why would the Irish sing of Scotland? Caledonia is the Latin name given by the Romans to the land in today's Scotland north of their province of Britannia, beyond the frontier of their empire

Dùn Chailleann, the Scottish Gaelic word for the town of Dunkeld meaning "fort of the Caledonii"

I just don't get where you are pulling this Irish stuff from?

  • This is very much a Scottish song, always has been...my god the words in the song tell you that...thier is nothing irish about this at all...its a Scottish song..through and through..

  • i love this song and i love scotland! i was an exchange student there for a year, and i have the best memories. thanks scotland! :D

  • this song makes me so proud to be scottish and i dont even know why lol

  • @garymonc You can be really proud.. Scotlands the only land I ever felt like home and I dont even live there..

The song makes me feel happy ^^ It's beautifull

  • I love this song, and I love her singing it. This is one of my favourite Scottish Songs ever, and apparently I cna sing it great. Not as good as Amy of course but still...

  • que buenisima cancion

  • Completamente de acuerdo, es un himno que sólo un escocés puede cantar ;)

  • Love it, shes kept it simple, made the most of her fine voice. A simple (classic) song done well. Certainly up there with the best of the covers. Inmho much better than Paolo's 'attempt' at this song.

  • Very emotional, a great song and a great version of that song!

  • Love this Song.-))))) abs great

  • brilliant

  • @eheaney07

in my opinion one of the most emotive versions of Caledonia but a little too short...check out the version of Celtic Women...

  • i dont think so (:

  • yes

  • yeah she if from a town called bishopbriggs she use to live in my street but she has been away on tour so she hasnt been home in a while but her parents live there still

  • Amy Macdonald is my role model.. so anybody can shut up about her being crap! I love her music it is pure SCOTTISH brilliance and she is the best female vocalist (if thats what you call it) in the UK!

    Caileigh 13

  • she a gers fan , brilliant singer , bonnie quine too

  • She is one very sexy good singer!

  • HOT

  • okay, this is... different then i am used to. not bad, but hmm... with a female voice i prefer celtic women, and for a male voice... rapalje really impressed me two days ago when i saw them live. to bad their version on youtube is not as good as they were then.

  • shievers up my spine wow love it!! her version is actually gorgeous ya can feel her love for her country :)!!

  • luv amy luv caledonia

  • Thank you for posting this song. :-)

McDonalds version is "ok". Personally I prefer Dolores Keane's version...but, like another poster said..it's opinion. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same genres, interpretations and versions of music!

    Viva La Differance!!!! :-)

  • masterclass

  • she went to te school near me bishopbriggs academy

  • I like the extra bagpipes bit at the end, making sure everyone realises this song is specifically about Scotland

  • love it :)

  • such is this song. this is the only version I can hear out. definitely well interpreted

  • @Himisdeshit shouldn't a true Scottish person sing this song?

  • @garlicandchocolate

    No, actually I don't

I think that it should be sung by someone who does a good job at it.

  • personal opinion :) no probs

  • y u commentin and listnin then? if u thnk it 'suks ass' when it is absolutley amazin!

  • this is easily the best version.

  • excellent, the best version i've heard

  • Dougie McLean is just superb, but this is a good alternative version. Don't think the pipes are quite right, though.

  • Yeah that ruined it for me too!

  • And me....Ullian Pipes would have been better

  • normaly i like her songs, but this is just a poor version of one of the greatest songs i ever heard

  • i totally agree with you. ... i've heard a few versions of this song, and this one just misses that emotional/dreamy feeling the song usually gives me

  • i am a prod you cunt

  • Very sweet

  • up The Macdonald ! Up Caledonia ! Up Scotland !! Albainn Gu Brath

  • Frankie Miler is better i think But she is still Brilliant

  • Very good Amy, the best Caledonia version i heard in my life. love it.

  • i prefer sandi thoms version

  • i love this song :L

  • i'm naturally born belgique

  • amazin song

  • òran uabhasach

  • never knew she´s Scottish!

  • Oh, I love her scottish accent! Listen to one of her interviews and you'll hear this accent in all its beauty!

  • this is 1 of the covers that I like

  • Dolores Keane's version is my favourite ;)

  • thats the differance amy belt it oot!

  • Dougie Maclean is the best, hands down. Not up for debate. His is the original, best and the only artist to sing the song from the heart. I like this version too but Lisa Kelly's version is all a bit too la - la - la and sweet rather than emotional.

  • everything is alway up for debate. I highly doubt, btw, that only one (Scottish) artist sings this soing from the hearth. not after I got to know how patriotic Scots usually are ;-)

  • Made me cry.

  • Short and sweet

  • check out the Steve Balsamo version

  • My favorite version is Celtic Thunder and then Lisa Kelly from Celtic Woman.

  • frankie miller version is the best tbf(Y) but this is still good :)

  • i forgot to say i dont like the celtic ladys version of it i thik the est is the origional but then this one coz u neva can beet oriionals can u :P
