i just witnessed one a few hours back actualy, we had one here in australia, happened between around 8pm and finished a bit after 9pm, aparently our next one is due in december 2011

for those wondering the reason why the moon turns red , the only sunlight it receives are the indirect rays which have been refracted through Earth's atmosphere where most of the blue, green and yellow light is filtered out through scattering.
