@bradstrains I have no idea what type of motor it has. The engine was built like a tank and weighs about as much as one too. That's how it has so much traction and torque. They just don't build them like they used too.
@m7hacke well that would be true until about 5 years ago when they started to build trains right again. There is this lionel es44 die-cast metal diesel that weighs in at about 14lbs. And now every companys high end stuff has 100 % metal steam engines and 100% metal diesel undersides. But those are high end products that cost to much I assume that engine came in a set.
@grizzleybearz282004 Yes, that is pre-war. My dad put the post-war coupler on the pre-war box car before I was born. He did it so we could pull post-war cars with the pre-war engine. One of the best engines I've ever had. Still works great.
@train2589 Thank you. I have no idea how big it is. My layouts are only temporary. I set them up for a few months during the Winter. Every year the layout is different. I build whatever I feel like building and change it as often as I feel.
What wheel arrangement does this engine have?
bradstrains 1 month ago
@bradstrains It is 2-6-2.

Does it have magne traction and a pullmor motor? (Open frame motor)
bradstrains 2 months ago
@bradstrains Neither. It is a pre-war 1938 engine.

@m7hacke oh. Then what type of motor does it have? and if it doesn't have magne traction or traction tires how can it start this much train?

Thats awesome!! Is that a 225E steamer pulling the train?
SouthernRR4501 1 year ago
@SouthernRR4501 Yes it is. It was my dad's.
m7hacke 1 year ago
@m7hacke I'm extremely surprised that little steamer could pull 40 cars!!!
SouthernRR4501 1 year ago
@SouthernRR4501 That engine always had a lot of power and torque. It's a very heavy engine so the wheels would almost never slip.
