How about renewing your mind with the word of God? Than the brain gets rest! Too many people do not WANT to take responsibility for their actions, or turn around from "bad" behavior, get off mind controlling drugs. Who can tell the difference? Doctors sure can't. @BeateSmock Look at brain scans of a depressed person vs a 'regular' person. I am not sure if god exists but having such faith in something guiding your life and helping you along would probably be stronger than therapy regardless if it was true or not. Peoples level of depression vary and so do the fixes.
