Simon still in the begening stage. OF setting up a little studio. Cant afford to buy several batts do you make your own. Grate video thanks fore sharing your expert es.
Hi - round bats I make myself from a sheet of plywood .Best is marine plywood as the glue is waterproof . You will need a jigsaw or similar to cut around corners. SL
It was just this video but I was able to view it on the iphone the following day. I don't know why. I'm sure they appreciated me not viewing it at work, though! Regards to Catherine!
Wonderfull such a bowl BUT : how to center a big ball of clay with two too smaller hands ? more than 1kg becomes rapidly to much for them! Have you some advice or suggestion for me?
Hi C - have the clay on the soft side,& well kneaded,...the rest is your technique ? this bowl was 1 kg I think. SL ( good luck & KP -keep practicing !)
when I center my clay I'm always losing a lot of clay. My hands are so dry, I think i use to mutch water. Can you give me a hint how to work and don't have to work with half the amount of clay I started?
can you make a video on pulling please? I always have an ungodly amount of trouble when I try to make a piece tall.

I have never seen the newspaper technique to keep the rim intact - very clever, I will try this. Thanks!

Simon, would you set up the camera and show your hands inside the bowl next time. I think that would be interesting too! Thank you

what does the paper do?
jdmpottery 3 years ago
The paper creates a vacuum and it stops the rim distorting.

what was I thinking - it DOESN'T create a vacuum, but it DOES stop the bowl from distorting - I tried it myself!
