WOW. Now that's incredible, I can appreciate all the time and effort that went into this restoration. It's one of my goals right now to restore my 1983 C70 that I pulled out of a junk yard (of all places Hondas should not be...) and this gave me even more inspiration. Thanks!
@roboticdolphin Well thank you very much! It's just great that folks especially fellow riders think I've done something good restoring these old gems. The fact is most of us may not have ever started riding if it were not for Honda. I sure hope you get your C70 restored soon and let me know if you have any vids up on it. Good luck with your project and thanks for commenting :)
My little brother started off with a Honda Sport 50 (C110) and I had the Honda 90 C200). He then bought a new Honda 160 and I later bought a Honda 305 Scrambler. Those '60s Hondas were great.
@Garvoon Looks like Honda has left some good memories in our minds which is great. I started off with a "69 Honda Z50 like the one I restored on my YouTube channel then I went to a CT70 and even had a C70 Cub around that time. Sold them and got me a 1976 XL250 then moved on to a Honda 350 Four, 550 Four then a 750 Four. Loved them all. The 350 Four was flawless. Now I have all the bikes that you see on my YouTube vids and my GL1800 Wing is the only one I use. Love the Honda's LOL
@7863348 I broke my hand, some cuts and bruises when I wrecked the 305 in the fall of 1968 (an old man ran a stop sign in Florida) and shortly after, went into the Navy. It took me a while, since the accident, to get back on the horse after I was discharged. I ended up with a BSA 250cc bike and later, a very well engineered, three-tone blue 1976 Yamaha 650 twin. But those 60s Hondas were something else. You could see the transitions for Honda (350, 450), I'm guessing, in the very early 70s?
@Garvoon Wonder why everything these days that we buy and use feel like it's got no soul. Maybe because when we were younger this stuff meant more to us? I don't know but one thing I'm appreciative of and that is the memories we all have because of these bikes.
@Brojofus Well thank you very much! I like the way the bike turn out but what I like even more is when someone takes the time to comment on it. Very much appreciated. :)
@MrBadboygene Thanks. Honda did a good job on those for sure. I think my all time favorite was my old 1972 Honda 350 Four. Loved that old bike. Never had an issue with it other than the fact id was green lol. Thanks for commenting :)
WOW! Fantastic job on everything! I'm restoring my father's 1964 C200/CD90 and I hope mine comes out looking half as nice as yours. This is the first time I've attempted a project like this. I located your thread on the Honda305 site and it is a great resource. Awesome, inspiring work!
@tmoas Thank you very much. Very happy to hear you enjoyed seeing my restoration. I'm sure yours will be very nice when completed. the main thing you need to do is enjoy every step you take and that way it doesn't seem like work. If you have any concerns or questions when you start at it and if I can help in any way just post a question on the Honda305 blog I have on my C200 and I'll answer you. Good luck and thanks for your post.
Im gonna restore mine so i got lots of questions for you if your willing to help me out.I was wondering if you have any t ips on what to clean the engine up with yours look brand new,and how do you get the chrome so shiny do you rechrome your stuff? And where do you get parts (ebay?)thx for the info on the tag ill check it in a couple days.
@lockhart1976 If you go through my Honda C200 blog at Honda 305 dot com and read it all you'll have all your answers covered. That's why I did it that way :)
@lockhart1976 Take a look at the wiring harness where it leaves the head lamp and goes into the frame. There will be a tag on that harness which will tell the year. I did a blog of my restoration. do a search for Honda C200 and you'll find my blog. it has over 40.000 hits and shoes each step I took to do it. it will so the tag as well on there. Hope this helps.
Thanks for restoring and posting - I too learned to ride on a C200, in 1972 (blue 1968 model) when I was 12yrs old. While watching this I could remember it like it was yesterday. I think the original colour was slightly darker than yours, but you've done a great job on it.
I saw in the photos what looked like a 305 dream, and I couldn't tell what else you had. One of the reasons I decided to do the C200 resto is that I have a black 67 305 dream that is all original (Been in my family for 30 years) and in excellent shape. The C200 in the same color will look great next to the dream, and my kids can ride it (but not drop it hopefully). I looked at the buffing you did to shine that carb, and I am most impressed!
Cool stuff. Love the Dreams. I got a video here on my "65 Dream as well and I'm uploading a new video now on one of my "72 C70 K1. So you like the buffing :)
Beautiful work. I'm the one that is doing the black c200 that you commented on with the video. I like the color on yor bike - don't care if its not original - it looks great. I am about halfway through the resto on my bike. I am curious what you chromed, and what you polished to look like chrome. I am not planning to do a complete frame up resto, but I have redone the engine, and touched up the body. I have a new seat and front fender on the way.
This C200 almost never got restored at all. After painting most of collection red I said no red for the C200. This was a TOTAL restoration. Everything was torn down and rebuilt buy me. There was never a way to tell what the color was on the original bike from Honda, even by using the VIN so changing color didn't matter. The only thing chromed on the bike was the tank toaster ends, headlight rim and a few bolts as seen in the video. I hand buffed all the rest. Thanks

Good Job! Truly one of best Honda's ever made. Love the color. I read a "long term test" on a C200 years ago. The guy had over 80,000 Miles on it!

What a beauty!
brings back memories, I learned how to ride on a C200 (only red)
not many people thought these were worth preserving or restoring, so most ended up on the scrap heap.
I still think it has one of the most pleasing gas tank shapes
