I think that it is at the very least, STAGED! There is simply too much drama and money involved in it. The lack of serious injury also is enough to make many people suspicious. It is very similar to the old WWF when it first started. They just do a better job of covering it up by adding a bloody nose, or mouth in the picture.
When it comes to skill, size and strength are meaningless. A 135lb traditional expert martial artist can defeat any opponent. It doesn't matter how big, or how strong they are. If you don't believe that, then you would have to deny Bruce Lee! He only weighed about 135. These guys in the UFC flex their muscles in vain. It is meaningless.
With the equipment that they are wearing, I would expect to see much more than a bloody nose, or bloody lip. You never see it! An expert martial artist is more than capable of putting somebody in the hospital. Don't tell me the rules prevent them from doing that! BULLSHIT! All it would take is one good LEGAL punch in the right area, and it could put somebody on their death bed.

Lots of people in boxing and wrestling have said MMA is scripted (a more accurate term than fake) and I believe them. Some times the punches are stiff and hard and some times the MMA punches are not. The most telling thing is the poor grappling in MMA where easy reversals are never used and crippling holds never break any bones. All the decisions and at least some of the knock outs / submissions are pre determined in MMA, just like boxing.

Boxing technique (which I am well familiar with as a boxing fan) is different but the inclusion of arts like Muy Thai in MMA forces more separation between fighters so punches are often used to keep opponents at bay as opposed to being real attempts at a KO. UFC fighters don't fight for a purse, they have a contract. If they win but put on a boring fight, they won't get another fight; if they lose, but they are exciting, they will keep getting fights. A lot of fighters fight to put on a show, but not to win. If you are trying to get endorsements and make money, would you rather be on TV for 5 minutes, or 15 minutes? Fighters pass up opportunities to finish their opponents. It isn't choreographed, but it's not real.

I have seen more slow motion knock outs in boxing and wrestling than in MMA, both scripted and accidental, but that does not make boxing or wrestling unscripted. There are still brain dead morons out there who believe professional wrestling is unscripted because that is what they want to believe, though wrestling has been open and exposed for over 25 years. Boxing has been exposed as being fixed and worked since the 1930's. Wrestlers used to tell their friends and family wrestling was real, so even if you were told that by a UFC guy it means nothing.

My uncle worked at a gym where Shawn Michaels and Brett hart used to train in the early 90's and they were the hardest workers I have ever seen. @dcvollkomer68 That is quite possibly the most unfounded post I have ever read. That is quite the distinction. First of all the way YOU throw a punch is going to be different from MMA. Boxing technique (which I am well familiar with as a boxing fan) is different but the inclusion of arts like Muy Thai in MMA forces more separation between fighters so punches are often used to keep opponents at bay as opposed to being real attempts at a KO. Go to an MMA gym buddy and tell me its fake.

Learn your shit dude, the original UFC involved bare knuckle combat, and it was basically considered cock fighting. UFC fighters don't fight for a purse, they have a contract. If they win but put on a boring fight, they won't get another fight; if they lose, but they are exciting, they will keep getting fights. A lot of fighters fight to put on a show, but not to win. If you are trying to get endorsements and make money, would you rather be on TV for 5 minutes, or 15 minutes? Fighters pass up opportunities to finish their opponents. It isn't choreographed, but it's not real.
