  • I see that Miss Autumn is fond of covering other peoples music, does she actually have anything original?

  • @GhouledKS Yes, EA has a lot of original music out.

  • @xWordsHavePower Whoa, wasn't trying to be snide. I just happened to stumble on repeated links of her just doing covers, ala' Gloomy Sunday, Girls Just Want to Fun, etc... it was weird.

  • @GhouledKS I didn't take it that way at all! I must have come across wrong. xD But yes, EA does/did a lot of covers. :3

  • her voice is so amazing

  • Even though the "myth" behind this song has been proven wrong... For some reason, that dark aspect of it kinda makes the song more fascinating, you know?

  • @shiv8014 the other people...well, a song cannot bring out emotions or feelings like that unless the person already has emotional or even mental (for lack of a better word) problems. The people that ended up killing themselves probably already had problems and maybe even depression. The song simply magnified their emotions. But I was not concerning myself with the suicides from that time. I was simply explaining to you Emilie Autumn's suicide so you dont keep saying false info. Its rude.

  • @y0shisgrl can you rephrase that, emilie didnt commit suicide, she is still alive. attempted suicide, maybe

  • @AZwebsDJ I apoligize. When I phrased it as 'suicide' I did not realize that some people would mistakenly take it as meaning she died from suicide. I should have said ATTEPTED suicide. Sorry, I believe i typed it in a rush.

  • @y0shisgrl no apology needed. a simple mistake on both sides

  • I quite like it.

  • Emilie does the best English Gloomy Sunday. The lyrics though don't compare to the original Hungarian.

  • recorded in a bathroom:D

  • is this the original artist sang?

  • @cutehakime No, it's a cover.

  • Emilie looks soo pretty in this picture, I want her corset soo effin bad DX annndd I Love the way she sings this song <3 hmmm.. Sundays are truly gloomy ;P

  • I think that the way she sing this is beautiful, but I do like the piano in the original version, of course that's her call as the artist. I think she might have focussed more on how the usic leds its self to teh words, instead of just getting the words out there (minus the second ending), but, liie the rest of her work, I love this.

  • Billie Holliday and Diamanda Galas did the best versions, in my opinion. This is just weak.

  • @YesImACunt I agree, this was utterly shit.

  • @Mustela13 Do you have to say it like that? Couldn't you have said you just disliked this?

  • @TehFinalFantasygurl Why? Comments are enabled for people to voice an opinion, my opinion was that it was utterly shit... so yeah, that's how I said it.

  • my grandpa just died today at 11:27 am, me and my dad were the only ones home and i was in shock the whole time, today is sunday, i was pretty close to him, I wish I was the first to go....

  • Billie Holliday eats her for breakfast. This version has no sorrow or pain in it, it just sounds overdone. It's too fast, and it doesn't carry the pure despair of Seress' original or the Billie Holliday cover.

  • its a death song hunderd of people have suiced after listing this song they said that after listen this song they did not wanna live more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,see history of this song on google even emili autum has sucide after some time

  • @shiv8014 You idiot! Emilie Autumn didn't try to commit suicide because she didn't want to live anymore. She did it because of the abortion she got for the fear of childbirth and she didn't want to pass down her bipolar disorder to her child.

  • @CoverMeDarkness u motherfucker stupid idoit,,,,,,,,,,,she can simply abort her child,,,,,,,,,and why other people sucide,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and y she sucide with her patner

  • awmg :o ur awesome :D

  • Rezsőné \,,/,

  • Hmm, i don't really like it. First, the english lyrics aren't as good as the original hungarian lyrics. Second, Emily's voice in my opinion doesn't fit to this song. In my opinion Leander's version is the best. This is... too dry for me.

  • @CherryCorvette

    (I'm not arguing)

But you do realize she is just singing this, with nothing, just her, a cup of tea, and a bath tub.

    xD

  • Probably the best version of this song I've heard.

  • I love listening to this whilst on RainyMood, it puts me in such a euphoric state...

  • i don't like this version because it has no accompanying music.

  • @winggoddess Check out the Opheliac Deluxe Version of this song. She is accompanied by her violin.

  • @RobinTeenTitansGO1 that one is better, thanks. :-)

  • @winggoddess i dont think it needs music!

    :]

  • I can't get enough of this song

  • I wanna sing my own version of this song, so I'm using this instrumental since I can't find a good one to use.

  • Miss Emilie graces us with her divine voice once again<33

  • Yes I was trying to find this song!!

    :D I feel accomplished.

  • @MsFUDGEYOU NO, HIDE THE FOOD.

  • this one is good, but I also love the extended version where she plays her violin.<3

  • This is my favorite version of it. I looove EA<3

  • This is medicinal.

  • umm the song made her cry... listen closely at the end....

  • @Gilesiskool Its actually her just rattling stuff in her bathtub. I saw the video of her singing this :) the audio is taken from that video.

  • @Gilesiskool it's from her video how to be a wayward victorian girl or something. she's basically sitting in the bath belting out a tune drinking tea.

    yano, as you do.

  • Comment removed

  • She sings well,,but she messed up the original rhythm of the song.

  • @MsChihuahua9700

She re-sang it. Of course she sang it all in her style. Duhh :)

  • I think this version has something beautiful, I love Emilie's voice and I bet everyone will know why after hering this, but I also think, that she exaggerates it a bit. I don't feel this intense and deep feeling of despair and sorrow. (Sorry if there are any errors in this comment, my humble excuse is, that I am from germany)

  • PEOPLE.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS: THEY WILL JUST GROW MORE IRRITATING.

  • @LaZBoyziez This is not art!! This is not singing!! This is a poser pretending she can sings!

  • @Normalgirl1234 This bullshit is called singing!! Wow, I think she's needing some singing classes!!

  • no feeling, no passion.. i'm sorry, but this is nowhere near original or diamandas. who says otherwise should check their hearing

  • @Areoplane7 of course there's no feeling or passion, feelings and passion are from this world, and she's just preparing to get of it ^-^

  • I want tea.

    And a bath

  • @qutiecee as do i ;) its always four oclock somewhere ;)

  • I want tea.

  • this gave me chills.....

  • @emipop95 thats how good it is :D

  • @bribrimichaeljackson yeah its scarry too. like you can feel the sadness in her voice...

  • Did she actually translate it from hungarian? I love it :)

  • i listened to this song more than 20 times lol still iam alive ahahhahaha

  • Instead of saying "changing", I meant her not singing the last verse.

  • Ha! Just like Emilie to change the lyrics. I like it better this way, though. It still has the same "hungarian" feel to it with no "i was only dreaming" BS. The only other english version that adheres to the essential point of the lyrics is the Desmond Carter one, which I simply just don't like as much.

  • With so much of Emilie's work you have to listen to it over and over just to tell if you like it.. What an amazing individual... I like it when she plays violin in a song better than when she sings it though.... Please don't attack me....

  • @bruninhoart

What an intelligent comment :) Keep it to yourself.

  • @hermelin0445 No kidding. What a dumbass.

  • @hermelin0445 Well, so many lovers!!! Huuuuh!!! There are great artists in the world and they make no crap like this!! That might not have been my most intelligent comment, but many people see how bad this "singer" is!! You all have the right to like her, I have the same right to dislike! That's it!! "Just because you have no original ideas it doesn't means mine are wrong!" Have you ever read this??

  • @bruninhoart

Ok, I agree, you have the right to dislike this version of Gloomy Sunday. I'm Hungarian, so I do know well the original one, thank you. Btw to be honest I prefer the original...But I still respect Emilie's work.

  • Thank you for omitting the modulation to the major key!! I personally think that the transition to the major key kinda kills the entire mood of the song. This was perfect. May I ask for you to sing the original lyrics? =]

  • i love this version, better than the one with the backing track.

  • 1. The song isn't based off Billy Holiday's COVER but on the original score and poem.

2.There was no curse for this song. The composer who wrote this was suffering from depression like MANY people during the time with the World War and the economic depression. HE committed suicide.

    3. There was no subliminal message. During the time there was a high suicide toll and it went around that it was because of this song.

It's not proven and classified as Urban Myth or Legend.

  • @TheIndustrialClef Rezso Seress was depressed not because of the war but because all of his works were rejected constanly and the woman he loved left him as well and she killed herself and next to her was the sheet music he wrote it 2 days after they broke up on a sunday.

  • Sounds like she has a nice voice but just tried way to hard to make it sound gloomy.

  • one of favorites song of emilie, and mine too!

  • Comment removed

  • @aloula97 But wouldn't Billie have not been effected by the curse cuz she used the alternative ending?

  • @jacks16390 idk, it was enough that she sang most of the song the same :P

  • @aloula97 Billie Holiday didn't commit suicide...

  • @endlich1984 Huh? i remember reading somewhere that she did... ah well, it was probably like wikipedia and some random person wrote. lol

  • I have the full version of this, with violin? Why does it sound like this?

  • @EvieShotgunSinner You probably have the Deluxe Version-----> /watch?v=NRiNQkjnqzs&feature=related

  • i love it. :)

  • horrible... just mimicking billy holiday

  • @slothboy79 and where did billy get it? sir it was not even written in english originaly, consider historys before commenting.

  • @slothboy79 i have nothing against ur music taste or anything, but wat is the point of commenting if its only going to be negative?

  • @slothboy79

Billie*, and Billie was covering...I don't know his name, but he was Hungarian.

  • Its absolutely haunting....I can't get enough of it. It just keeps filling my veins with taunting thoughts.

  • ella canto en el toiled :P

  • I like this recording better than the other one. xD

  • Did you guys know that the bathroom is the most acoustically sound room in the average home. That and it's deadly fun :) So far i think this is the best version. EA never ceases to enchant me.

  • I wish this version had the music with it, she has a beautiful voice

  • qe liindo un cover x emiliie!!!!

    xDDD mii zer megafeliiz!!

  • @eviljulian999 And you destroyed the English language. X.x

  • i luv thisss i wunna meet her

  • I love the studio version she covered, but this is gorgeous.

  • i personally dislike this.

  • I can understand why she would record it in a bathroom. I love the effect it has on my voice when I'm singing in there.

  • I have listened to about 10 different versions of this song but i think this is the best.

  • is there also a bird-bath video?

    that would be most kool

  • there is a video on where she sits in her bathtub and sings this song...she is amazing

  • i made the replay button my friend so it wouldn't commit suicide....i feel accomplished ^-^

  • The original version freaks me the fuck out and kind of haunts me. I couldn't stop replaying it in my head when I was trying to sleep o.o

  • Somehow, I prefer this bathtub version to the album one...

  • @piratequeen357 lol, i know...bathtubs make everything better ;)

  • is she referring to her baby, the one she aborted?

  • @himurakenshinfan19

gloomy sunday is a pre-existing song

this is a cover of it

  • @EpithalamionJinx oh,ok.is she referring to anyone? or is it just a song?

  • @himurakenshinfan19

not entirely sure, but im pretty sure it's just a song, though she might've had someone in mind when she wrote it

  • @EpithalamionJinx This is an old song by a Hungarian musician. It is a lament to a love he lost. It became known as the Suicide Song because it supposedly caused many suicides through the decades it has been around. It was even banned in most countries for a good length of time.

This is the best remake of the song.

  • @himurakenshinfan19 this is this a cover of a song by a hungarian artist who wrote it about a lover he lost.

  • Emilie's voice

    is so amazzing and powerful

    <3

    she's my idol

  • and now it's time for suicide

  • Bath tub singing <3<3

  • This song...so melancolic...

    Yet it has it's beauty...*

  • at 1:16 when she says "death is not a dream"

just wondering, it's me or in the song of mad girl she kinda answers herself back saying "death is but a dream I know"....

  • her voice is absolutely beautiful. :D

  • she shouldn't singing this its tempting fate

  • wtf how do you know she recorded this in the bath tub???

  • @333Tanniel333 becuase we al saw the video of her singing it :) its called how to be a wayward victorian girl rule #4 :)

  • @333Tanniel333 Silly muffin. Not only can you tell by the lack of instrumentals, the acoustics of the room she's in, and the occasional splashing of water is picked up by the camera, but we've all seen Lessons in Being a Wayward Victorian Girl, in which Emily shares her insight with us. In the last segment, she hosts a tea party by herself in the bathroom, where she sings this song.

  • ive listened to many different versions of this song, and this one seems to be the best to me.she seems to feel the song, as well as sing it.

  • @MoonHeeJun WHAT???? SHE MADE ME LIKE THE SONG!!!! all the other singers ruined it :O

  • this is what makes emilie so unique from any other artist/singer....singing in the bathroom in the tub...yet doesnt care what people may say or do..shes awsome!

  • was she crying at the end? :(

  • @LoveMeNots no she was drinking her tea XD

  • I'd like to hear her sing it in Hungarian :D

  • i have to start singing and having tea party's in a tub more.

  • The finale made me cry, I had this knot on my throat all the song

  • What a mad

    mad

    madly

    wonderful woman

  • Yes! We love u Emilie.

  • insanely beautiful

  • Vigyázz mire használod vissza üt ,nagyon .....

  • This version of Gloomy Sunday scares me a lot, maybe because of the recording (in a bath tub, lol), with the noises in the back and everything. For me sounds like she was about to kill herself and then sang this recording with a tape. Or it's just my wild imagination?

  • @NinnaBlack

I doubt that she was suicidal.. She's just knows how to put real emotion in her song!

  • @SirRiehl did you read her book?

if that is not suicidal, then i don't know...

  • @666Mariko666

She might not want to live, but I don't think she'd ever actually kill herself

  • @SirRiehl True, but who are we to know?

I certainly don't know what goes on her head ;-)

I'm just a girl, standing in front of the beautiful miracle of life. And it takes my breath away. Every single day.

  • Comment removed

  • @NinnaBlack There's a moment in which the sound clicks. Like a knife flicking open. *shivers* So I get what you mean.

  • @NinnaBlack Whoa. Now that you have said that... I am imagining this great backstory... Because to me, I hear the sound of like, a old flim camera going. Like, she taped herself singing this before killing herself.

  • I prefer the final version (n her album ''opheliac'')

  • EA are raping the song

  • @herboros And you're raping grammar..

  • @herboros U = LOOSER WITH NO TASTE!

  • @herboros shes a poser hate to see wat u r

  • she is madd... shes in a bathtub singing this... i want a tea party in my bathtub... lol

  • This is a pretty sick version, I love it. Maybe not as shocking for me as the master version of almighty Diamanda Galas, but this is a very impressive version,

  • love how she sings the original lyrics. Ties in so well with Art of Suicide.

  • i love her

  • @bernadotte913 i love her too. shall we fight? lolz

  • @boomstick900 i love her more :D

  • @bernadotte913 she is too incredibly amazing to fight over, so i say we do paper rock scissors! for loving her more :P

  • @boomstick900 yeah dude you are right

  • Is it true that the original version of this song was blamed for some suicides in the 1930s?

  • @potatospwn yeah it was!! this song's even banned on some radios!

  • @potatospwn Yes.

  • @potatospwn yep. google the Hungarian Suicide Song.

  • @potatospwn The way I've heard it, then yeah... Very stupid though, since no one would commit suicide over feelings expressed in a song, only if they can relate to the words, so let's agree that the lyrics of this song must have hit the spot in most people...

  • hungarian suicide song

  • I've just been wondering, does she begin crying at the end?

    I can't quite tell.

  • @RainbowRaea Seems like it
