The people that ended up killing themselves probably already had problems and maybe even depression. The song simply magnified their emotions. I think that the way she sing this is beautiful, but I do like the piano in the original version, of course that's her call as the artist. I think she might have focussed more on how the usic leds its self to teh words, instead of just getting the words out there (minus the second ending), but, liie the rest of her work, I love this.

2.There was no curse for this song. The composer who wrote this was suffering from depression like MANY people during the time with the World War and the economic depression. HE committed suicide.

3. There was no subliminal message. During the time there was a high suicide toll and it went around that it was because of this song.

It's not proven and classified as Urban Myth or Legend.
