omg do u guys know the asian movie where this kid is turned into a boy she cuts off hair so her relatives can get money and then they find out shes a girl by hngin her on a rope till blood comes and she gets abused and stuff its old but i dont rember the name if u do plz tell me
great vid ^_^ - I always liked the way my dad described what a geisha was to me when i was little, "a living work of art, people would pay to see them walk and dance and to hear them talk, sing and play music" <-- probably not word for word but something along them lines. made me wish i could be one though lol.
Geisha's aren't prostitutes. The confusion comes about from the edo period of Japan, where high class courtesans would dress like geisha. Geisha are paid for time spent entertaining through dance, poetry etc. Even the mizuage- which in the memoirs of a geisha book is said to be losing their viriginity. But its not, its actually when the top knot of their hair is cut. They are not expected to give their bodies. Also during the war, many prostitutes dressed as geisha and served soldiers.
ChickenLimbs, Geisha are bought for a period of time in years usually or maybe only months. They are servants to the men who pay for them and believe it or not sex is part of the deal. Now I'm sure a small percentage of them avoided sex with one guy, but somehow I think that is the deviance from the norm.
Yes, I am well aware that they were purchased for a time. Because of the promiscuity of that society they certainly would have engaged in that activity. And i'm not saying it is beyond them. But a geisha's purpose is not to provide sexual services.
Re-watching the first 41 seconds tells me we gotta do something about poverty and women's rights (child rights too) in various parts of the world if a slushie from a man and two women who look beautiful with white make-up smiling at a girl is all it takes to get one into prostitution.
Its not like she had much of a choice; it was either become a Geisha, which at time was a very astounding position, or be a servant in debt. In America, do we not give everyone the chance to become some rich tycoon instead of going into prostitution? We do but look at how many people kill and go to jail & just scoff at education, at the chance to be something; it is that person who decides their future.
Plus....this is a BOOK. A MOVIE.One that took place in WWII era; things were different then.
Your right. In general Geisha's aren't considered prostitutes. A man pays them for a larger block of time like over a month and usually up to three years for which she offers her body to him for that period.
Kind of like the movie "Pretty Woman" only without the marriage at the end and rather a return to circulation.
How old is the girl on the bridge wise movie watcher? Clearly it seems too young to be training for Geisha and likely a prostitute upon getting older and less beautiful.
This movie "Millennium Actress" has me fascinated wondering what it is about.
I never did see this movie either & wanted to. When the man smiles at the little girl you gotta worry considering the movie title & yet your video at least showed a lot of talent in showing a girl training to be beautiful. I personally think a woman or girl needs little training for that.
Usually it takes a lot for these kinds of videos to keep my attention, but yours was captivating. It was a beautiful song and a very well done music video. Be proud of you work, it's very good. Not fantastic, you know, since there's not like "that extra special something", but still good enough for me to give it a 4/5. Well done!
I totally agree with you. I'm glad to know that I;m not the only one who senses the similarities between the two. I also love this song, thanks for doing such a nice mv with Chiyoko's theme=D
I can't believe more people haven't commented on this. I totally agree with you on the two movies being similar. I think both Chiyo and Chiyoko (note the similar names) are hopeless romantics who embark on high-competition, high-profile lives to capture the attention of the ones they love. Both prove to be naturals at what they attempt, but are tormented by highly ambitious women. In any case, I really enjoyed your MV, and hope to see more.
So Beautiful...

BEAUTIFUL music you've added to these scenes! I ever wonder if the actors, when watching themselves, really see it as we do?

I do believe that Geishas aren't prostitutes. You'd have known that, if you'd bothered watching the film or reading the book.

an imperfection is perfection to me
I want a love that exists in reality."
