no, I dont know off hand how much you can bore an H22 once sleeved. but you are serious that you have a CL and dont know what to do with it, but you will dismiss the H22 option because it cant be overbored a ton? what are you going to do then? if you have more money than you know what to do with, you could always swap in the CL-S V6/6 speed... someone probably makes mounts... I know they do for civics/tegs...
@maddmatt02 so i have a f23 engine all i need is an h22 head and it fits perfect or do i have to do something to it? and i thought u cant mix the b series with f nor h?
@209sub0 well, I know the coolant pipe has to modified a little bit as well as an engine mount I think, not too sure, Ive never done it. but as far as I know the head does just drop on and bolt up. and B series doesnt technically mix with H or F, thats what the adapter plate is. search H2B and youll find kits that include the adapter plate, and Im pretty sure the flywheel has to be a custom job as well, but most of the kits I've see include them.
@maddmatt02 so the coolant is a no brainer right? im starting to get use to these stuff and i have an acura cl 97 2.2.. i dont know what to do with it.
sweet im doin this built but on a eg is affordable n easy n has more power dan k20 k24 thats thats why i love honda u get power out of any single part u put in ja
yeah I saw it on import tuner website.. wow it has so much more punch then a built k24.. Im thinking of building the exact same motor.. and its only under $2,000
ehh. its cheaper than a k-series maybe, but thats all it has on k-series. its only if you have a shop do it, then its expensive for K's. some do K swaps for about the same price as G23. not all these g23's make 250hp. this one did, but a k24a2 can make 217hp 182tq and its 6spd. thats just i/h/e. this g23 here is making 250hp 182tq. 33 more hp, but same exact torque and a slow 5 spd. yeah, best bang for the buck...ok. but power/torque..id go k-series...oops, already have :)
just saying, so dont come back hating. my 00 civic coupe with a k20a2 (200/142) with only i/h can beat an h22 with same power as me, and 20+ more tq, and same exact car and weight. my k20a2 coupe will beat the h22a coupe. its been done. just like a d-series boosted making 220hp and maybe like 190-200tq aint much of a race either. id say it has to do with the close geared 6spd transmission. im no expert, but the k-series is the true beast. upgrade that k24 civic to 250hp. think of its torque then
I think you have been eating 2 much special K, seriously. a motor is a motor regardless of how it is, I've seen stock G23's spank K20/K24 hybrids all over the race track, I've seen LST spank hybrids, I've seen b16 turbos spank K20/K24. . not everybody has $7000 to drop on a K20 compete swap, when if you just have a b16 tranny, you could piece to gether the rest for under $3000 and have a g23 that preforms just as good. if you blow your block, how much is it going to cost to get a replacement?
im talking stock vs stock. that b16 can be turbo, and i can still beat it, unless it is really built, and running much more psi. and i said nothing bad. but the numbers of this build in the video are poor IMO. a k-series can have that power and still more torque. i like a closer power/torque ratio. it takes more power adders to make them like this video. and it wont cost much if i blew my block. if it happened, it probably wouldnt be bad since i dont drive like shit. so id just rebuild...simple
ohh dude stock for stock this motor would rape a k20 easily. I've seen it and can vouche for it. this thing picks up where honda left off so many years ago. torque on the low RPM, check out super honda , see some graphs. once this motor catches traction it takes off. also 6 speed gearing isnt all that its cracked up to be. more gearing means more shifts. if I'm in the thick of my power band and we are head to head and you have to shift cause u have an extra gear, I will pull ahead and stay ahead
well i dont know. i guess i need to see more of these builds. ive seen others where it makes just about the same power as the k20. and about the torque being more, its like i said earlier, with 250hp and only 182tq, a k20 can easily make that power, and have more torque. im just saying. im not trying to come off like a dick. that extra gear aint so bad if you're a really good shifter and know how to do it without losing speed.
explain something to me then, how can a motor with .3 less displacement make more torque when its all motor? I understand how engineered the K20 is. but cost for cost its not worth it. the G23 is a universal engine. you can run it all motor or boost the hell out of it with an iron block. yes the K series is he best honda has to offer in the terms of tech, but the G23 is versatile. maybe where you are u dont see alot of G23's, but I see them on the race track spanking all other all motor hondas.
for the 2.0 k20 type-s motors, ive seen numbers like 220ish hp and 170ish tq. i would like to believe that when adding 30 more HP, your torque should be at or hopefully more than 182tq. but for a "stock" G23, its 200+hp. meaning probably like 205 maybe. this guy did the ultimate build for more power to his G23. i have the magazine this car was in, along with every import tuner from march 2003-now. he didnt do the low G23 build, which i guess would be stock, even though its using multiple parts.
im on a forum with us k20 people, and theres plenty of numbers there, and plenty of quarter mile times. and of course the k24a2, or the frank k20/24 would have more torque. like i said before, this guys red 99 SI is on youtube, and makes 217hp 182tq. hes also on tha om i mentioned. i just raced a 92-95 civic with an H22a 5 spd which also makes 20+ torque wih i/h/e added to that, and i still beat that, and it has .2 more displacement. and those civics are like 100-200lbs less than my 00 coupe.
im not saying the G23 is a bad motor. i was only correcting a guy who was saying it had "more power dan k20 k24" ....dan?!?! he must not know what hes saying especially if he talks like that. this build was meant for those who cant afford a k series, and want results similar to a k. it wasnt meantioned as a "K KILLER". against a completely stock k20, it would only be a "K KILLER" if it were the build this guy in this video did.
also, the build in this video cost a bit over $6000 for the 250ish hp. its like
$1800 for the 200hp version. and thats because this guy knows where to get parts cheap. so if it were a normal guy, who has to order parts from shops and what not, then it would cost as much as most b-series swaps. and, theres been plenty of people doing k-swaps under 6G's. even cheaper for the k24a2, or even cheaper buying seperate parts to make a k20/24 frank. but again, im not trying to fight with you.
I'm not fighting with you either man, its a discussion. we are both grown adults and can debate. The only advantage that I see the K series have over a G23 swap or even a h22 swap is its engineered way better, just off an intake swap on a k20 you can realize a gob of more power, what I dont understand is how this 99si on youtube makes 217hp/182trq when a K20 type R makes 220ishhp 160+- torque? that doesnt make any sense. this convo needs to move to a pm so there is more room to type.
how are you going to compare a motor that you modded the bottom end and have dont head work to a completely stock k20/k24 swap ive seen tsx block rsx head RBC i/h/e and IPS cams are capable of reaching 260 and very high TRQ numbers. meaning stock bottom end stock head port stock everything minus cams and bolt ons.
dude, bottom end means jack, you can only get so little hp bump in compression, a stock G23 with only h22 pistons will make 210ish hp and 170+ torque, that matches a K20/k24 for a quarter of the price, in the end I can get a 260hp G23 and payed half of what you did to get that k hybrid the same. Its all about money man, people want to go fast for cheap.
just read about this in IT today, nice :D when this gets popular and every one and their mom has one of these...you can sit there and think to yourself "i started this trend :D"
for the ecu you could use the h22 or get one chipped.
for mounts you could use the h22 mounts or any of the f or h series mounts. they are all the same. this setup is supposed to be better than the k20. i cant wait to start mine.
you guys check out my f22 block with h23 head setup. its a beast!!

whats g23 and h2b?
209sub0 1 year ago
@209sub0 G23 is an F23 block with an H22 head, and H2B is a H series block (or F) bolted to a B series tranny with an adapter plate.
