the black star can hold only the souls of mortals/humans/any race. Azura's star can only hold the soul of animals. But you have to cast soul trap on the enemy. They can both be used indefintily.

Orcidea, I have reached level 77 in Skyrim, and I only have a few skills left to level up to 100. The problem is they're annoying to get up. The skills are Speech, Lock Pick, Alchemy, and Archery. I know I should probably use a guardian stone to help level them up, but it's still seems impossible to level up Alchemy. I have played other games for a few weeks, but I feel as though there was work left undone. Is there an easy method to leveling up these skills?

@Zanoskull at 77 you should have tons of gold, that will help you level some of those items. Alchemy = keep fast traveling to all the alch shops in major cities and buy up their stuff, higher value potions=more level up(paralysis, regen, slow). Speech = selling tons of stuff to the vendor, selling = leveling up speech (or use bugged chars that continue to give speech pts). Picklock=picking locks or breaking picks (buy tons of picks). Archery there's no way around buyin arrows and shoot tons.

@WillxThexThrill101 Dark Elf's only take 50% fire dmg, veryyyyyy useful later in the game when Elder and Ancient Dragons roam throughout the game, they also have bonuses to sneak, and we all know how Orcidea loves to sneak, also bonuses to destruction spells and the power to cloak themselves in fire, pretty useful if they get surrounded, also the title Dark Elf sounds pretty bad ass. My highest level character is a dark elf :)

Breton's and probably the Orcs, i used the bretons on my first time ever playing since i played as a Breton in Oblivion first as well, and besides Breton's are pretty bad ass since they have a head start for conjuration and they absorb hostile spells for a short time. Magicka regeneration is pretty much useless if you enchant all your equipment increase Magicka Regen anyway

The first thing I did when I got the Black Star was go back to the Azura Shrine and kill the her priestess and captured her soul. Then I enchanted a ring with that soul entitled "Rage of Azura." Fun times.

You need to find a spell called Soul Trap, can be found at any magic shops or in scrolls. Once found or bought equip it and cast it on a creature or a human, depending on the level of your skill and magic and also having a soul gem is required to get. Once you cast it you MUST kill it quickly to absorb the soul and use it for enchanting.

I play with Light smithing tree. Im not going to waste 5 perks for the Daedric smithing perk just for weapons and armor with only max 10% better stats. Im already OPed.

And please dont say you can get the perk after you have the Dragon smithing perk. You can not.

@Orcidea actually you'd just waste 1 point if you only went up the heavy armor side. Unless you truely make and wear every level of armor you get, all you'd be missing out by going up the heavy side are the armors, which you can just buy or loot or wear quest items . At the end the dragon smithing still lets you upgrade the best set of armor. Though it is true that skyrim isn't hard enough to bother, even on master fully upgraded daedric weapons are severely OP. I use upgraded katanas =p

It takes 5 perks to reach Daedric smithing. You can NOT take it if you went up the light smithing tree and have the Dragon smithing. You need Ebony smithing in order to take the Daedric smithing, and Ebony smithing requires Orcish smithing, etc.., so you need all the 4 previous heavy smithing perks to get the Daedric smithing. And you can improve Daedric stuff to Legendary only with smithing 91 and the perk, or with 168 smithing. And you cant craft those items without the perk.

@Orcidea no you miss read, I mean if you ONLY went up the heavy armor side and not the light armor side. The only thing you'd be skipping are the armors which unless you're one to wear only things you make your self, you could just buy/loot/quest (my char is a thief). Whether you are a heavy or light armor the advantages of going up the heavy tree outweighs the disadvantages because good weapons are more important to melee while leveling.

@chiefdog14 yes, a normal soul gem vanishes if u recharge a weapon with it or use it to enchant a weapon or armor, the star just needs to be recharged after you use it(meaning when u use it u have to go and kill another creature to get it's soul but it will never vanish.
