  • From SPF website rulebook:

    "Rules for the Squat

    1. A legal squat is performed when the top of the upper thigh at the hip (the “crease” of the hip) passes below the height of the knee."

Same rules as IPF regarding depth.

  • Go high or go home

  • "What the fuck is with this song choice?"

"...I get high with a little help from my friends..."

"Oh I see what you did there!"

  • im afraid of heights. this is giving me vertigo

  • omg at 1:25 is the best one, he didn't even get low enough for his ass to be at knee level. Literal quarter squat. "have a lil help from my friends!!"

  • Love the definition of the squat at start which says

the top of the upper thigh (the crease of the hip) passing below the knee.

I don't know what the judges were watching but I didn't see any.

Impressive weights and do not want to disrespect anyone in the clip but they are not a full squat.

  • The following is a list of squats that are higher:

  • BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK

  • What nonsense

IPF is the gold standard and always will be

  • @biglogstrongman IPF is just as retarded, its just on the other end of the scale.

  • @Lytv8 Why?

  • @sammcl16890

Its gotten to a point where the required depth on squats is just getting dangerous and unrealistic. Also Having the rule as having the top serface of the quad below the level of the top of the knee creates a new standard for every person who walks out to lift.

A person with 34" quads is going to have to squat multiple inches lower to acheive 3 white lights, compared to a guy with 24" quads.

Did you know the other day someone got a red light for not wearing long socks in the IPF?

  • @Lytv8 That's why the rule dictates the top of the knee, not the top of the quad, your quad can be above your hip and you can still make depth.

Somebody also squatted 460kg the other day in the IPF, the rule doesn't seem to hurt the weight that much.

  • @sammcl16890 The rule states the top of the quad at the hip and the top of the knee, this changes the standard of depth significantly between each lifter. Hip crease and top of knee does not change the standard anywhere near as dramatically.

This is also why you will find no IPF squats on the All time lift or Raw World Record lists above 60kg. It is also why the IPF has lower numbers of members than it ever has. I know the IPF here in Australia is dying badly, IPF in WA is non existant now.

  • @Lytv8 No, it doesn't - it states that the knee must be above the crease of the hip. It's on page 9.

  • @sammcl16890 Then I asked an IPF Judge who doesnt know the rule book...very reassuring.

  • @Lytv8

Lmao now you are comparing a standardized IPF squat with multi-ply half squatting garbage? Obviously someone burying a single ply squat is not going to beat someone who isn't hitting depth in a Leviathan and velcro knee wraps.

  • @Lytv8

Long socks is a RULE in the IPF. Why wouldn't they get red lights!? It's not like they just made the rule up on the spot.

And the big quad shit is such a cop-out.

  • @BombDonald On suits, then how about the RAW records? hmmm?

Clearly your not a competative lifter if you think that squatting an extra 2-3 inches is fair.

  • Definately amazing feats of strength! These dudes are strong. Are any of those squats legal? Not a chance.

  • Mistitled, should be "SPF Quarter Standing Leg Press Compilation"

  • long live spf

  • One person here squats 300 lbs more than they deadlift.

  • @powermike187 *"squats" and *500lbs ^_^

  • Such a pathetic excuse for "squats." If you want to see some actual squats take a look over at the USAPL. Your federation is a joke.

  • THIS... IS... AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • 1/4 squats in full gear rule.Long live the SPF........

  • @marklitherland Hahaha!

  • Depth is an interesting thing. Most of the people who complain about this kind of squatting are not that strong. I'm sure guys like Hoff and AJ Roberts can out-squat most everyone even if they go ATG.

Everyone in these federations are held to the same loose standards so it's not cheating. And no one seems to really give a shit about multi-ply squats anymore anyway. Benny's 1015 DL was was bigger news than Donnie's 1260 Squat.

  • @ptarleton maybe it's not cheating, but it's not legitimate lifting if they clearly don't squat, bench, or deadlift according to their own rules. And nobody cared about Donnie's squat, because it was a joke.

  • I don't usually LOL, but this time... LOL.

  • half of these look good to me

  • @leviksu

Point out one time in the video where a lifter is below parallel.

  • @jpmx16 Here's the problem. First, you can't judge depth from the front. So what I'm saying in my original post is that, from what I see, they look good. Of course I don't know. I wasn't there. Now, I don't compete in the SPF, I compete in the USAPL and NASA. But I do know that what many people think of as "below parallel" is a bunch of crap. The crease of the hip below the top of the knee. That is the rule. The pictures you see on certain feds websites only convolute the issue.

  • @jpmx16 For an example of this absurd crap that gets put into pictures, go to the NASA website. scroll down a bit, you'll see it. The picture shows that the crease of the lifter's hip is FAR below the knee line... it doesn't need to be that far down! Besides, the lifter pictured is in 2-dimensional space, so the only thing that picture could be used for is a VERY narrow squat (even if it was decent... which it isn't). All of these squats are very wide with horrible angles to judge depth.

  • @leviksu Is that the top half

  • this shit is gold haha
