  • new valves are always refreshing

  • @chrismortloch92 One would certainly hope so.New strings are best though :-)

  • as always nice chops.. btw which is your fav guitar in your collection and why?

  • @keithsa41 Thanks very much...Long term unemployment has seen most of the guitars go but I will always keep and like best my old Stratocaster that I've had for 42 years...It's just so 'me' if you know what I mean

  • Sounds Brilliant :))

  • @STRAIGHTAHEAD1970 You're very kind.Thank you

  • Nice guitar.. Played clearly in B.B. style on first presentation. Cheers.

  • @efjfolli Thanks so much

  • Excellent choice of notes, you rock man, love it!

  • @lighteningboy Now that is a compliment I really do appreciate .Tone, vibrato and note choice are the things for me, and the things that allow different players to sound different and be characterful. Thanks so much

  • Original pickups? Nice playing, too.

  • @jerseystringer Thanks...Yup! All stock

  • Awesome playing as always, and sick guitar. Gonna pick one up myself if/when I get the funds. Keep playing the blues... you get a great sound.

  • @chatter4500 Thanks so much.I've owned a few Telecasters down the years and a JV '62 Custom reissue and this one are the ones I miss most. You'll love it.

  • Bunch of feeling here!!!

  • @drneme I always try to feel it even if I can't do it..lol.Thanks very much indeed

  • fantastic..............

  • @TheSinebrute ...Thanks very much

  • @randomtwit ...You're very kind....and it's always good to see you here.Thank you

  • I have so much respect for the fact that you just post on youtube because you feel like it, not because you have something to prove. theres something more honest about your videos then most, and of course the playing is amazing. looking forward to more videos as always

  • @chrismortloch92 ...I'm not sure how I would go about proving something even if I wanted to..hahaha.I am so obviously just an old bloke at home :-)...Thanks so much for your very kind comment.

  • Jesus christ... some of the best blues I've ever heard. Paul..do you even know that you are one of the best. I'm honoured to call you friend.

  • @batfink777 ...I do you no more honour than you do me Donn...You are too,too kind

  • I hate to hear folks tell me they hate reading---lets me know they aren't really intelligent in most cases---but you have the stuff of plenty good knowledge--BOOKS!

And you have the stuff of plenty good picking--GUITARS! Play on good fellow...fill that house with the sounds of Teles and other good guitars!

  • @micmoable ...Haha.Some people say "I love to read"...Turns out all they read is magazines.lol...What can you do?

  • I see you like books too--cool---I've got a lot of books myself--a lot of the classics--and I've owned 66 guitars--mostly bought from pawnshops and ones my dad bought me over the years--all gone (Regrettably) except one acoustic I bought several months ago--a Yamaha FG 700s

  • @micmoable ...Books on one wall and guitars on the other and never worry about redecorating again...lol

  • really good playing man! Like the Tele

  • @micmoable ...Thank you kindly

  • Hey man,

Could you please give me jou eq settings? Because i really like your classic rock/blues tone!

  • @roeletti ...Thanks...This is two and a half years ago and I have no idea what the eq settings were....Move the knobs until it sounds good

  • Bloody briliant, great guitar, great player, great humour...

    "It's all bloody nonsense"...classic

5 star, cheers and beers, Howard.

  • @themanfromwem ...You are too kind. Thanks ever so much...Your name reminds me of the first giggable amp I ever owned back in 1971ish.After my little Bird practice amp I bought a WEM GR60 and WEM 2x12.This was in the days when WEM were providing PAs at virtually every gig you went to....I wish I'd known then what I know now.I'd have saved a little longer and looked out for a Deluxe Reverb...lol

  • @fendermac What an excellent comment, I live in WEM in Shtopshire, near to the railway station, and after 40 or 50 years off the guitar, am trying to play again on my leftie Tele, Hurts your fingers for a week or so, excellent, yours, Howard

  • I like your sound. great vid!

  • @oldfatguyrr1 ..You're very kind.Thank you

  • nice work man. i can hear the koss in there!

just got myself a tele this year too and all my other axes feeling a little neglected.

    Dave, Brisbane Australia

  • @fozdiv You're very kind.Thank you

  • You sound like Mick Taylor, to me. Cool chords from 6:24 to 6:54 and scale for the remainder of recording. I am a tele, blues, rock n roll, jazz lover. Check out my channel if u like.

  • @cameltooth1 ...Thanks very much.Apart from 'Get Yer YaYas Out' he's not a player that I listened much to.In my early days I wanted to be Jimi but was learning from Clapton,Kim Simmonds,Paul Kossoff - all much easier to follow.Lol

  • You sound like Mick Taylor, to me. Cool chords from 6:24 to 6:54 and scale for the remainder of recording. Check out my channel if u like. I am a tele, blues, jazz, and rock n roll lover.

  • Amazing, Simply amazing

  • @AntharokGaming ...Thank you very much.

  • Hi Paul, thanks very much for the advice about amps. I have to say that it is your phrasing and hot licks that really make the slow blues in G stand out, just the tone is so good too. Grac.

  • @gracnow You're very kind.Thank you and good luck in your search

  • I hope you dont mind me pursuing a little more. Is the boogie a 85w combo, or a head and cab? Boogies are hard to find and expensive here. What other amps might be able to get that smooth silky sound with a tele? grac

  • @gracnow ..No problem. If you search 'hardwood' in my uploads you can see the amp better. It's an old style narrow bodied 85watt combo.Tone is more difficult to talk about. An amp with master volume and a middle control should work I think - Marshall,Blackstar ...there are many brands that would give you a good sound. There are also many many highish gain pedals which could sound great through an uninspiring clean amp

  • excelent!

  • @theexperience0 ...Thank you very much indeed

  • Its alright Paul I now know it is a boogie mark IV, lovely sound, grac

  • @gracnow ...Lol.Yeah! a MkIV with no effects.I love it.Thanks for the kind words.

  • I really love this blues from the heart, and the great sound, what amp is it going through?

  • Great playing . Love the way you make that tele sing the blues.

  • @dojifly ..You're very kind. Thank you.

  • Very Nice Playing, I LOVE the Blues, Excellent.....

  • @dragaustin ..Thank you kindly

  • i thought roy buchanan was dead/

  • @bozo5116 I take nothing for granted but will choose to take that as a great compliment for which I thank you.

  • Now I can sleep well :D Great sound :)

  • @dennisperremans ...Thank you kindly....Interestingly the last person to comment didn't like the sound at all but he didn't seem to mind the playing..Lol

    Sleep well when you go.

  • Just realized the tone problem could be sourced to the video camera mic and/or compression of YT.

  • Your guitar playing is much better than that tone. There is something about the breaking point in your amp that flattens the tone. The "wolfy sound" ....it sounds blaring. Even the quiet passages retain that character which undermines the ability to modulate the emotion conveyed.

  • @O0Salmon0O ,,,Sorry you're not enjoying the sound. Thanks for the kind words about about the playing.

  • @O0Salmon0O ,,,Sorry you're not enjoying the sound. Thanks for the kind words about about the playing.

  • @O0Salmon0O ...Sorry you're not enjoying the sound. Thanks for the kind words about about the playing.

  • very nice..

  • @groovei ..Thank you.

  • Hi I was thinking of getting one of these guitars, is the sound and build quality as good as other fenders you have played and Is it worth spending £800 on it?

  • @lewiswren ...It depends entirely on how much you need the £800.I couldn't buy one now but it's a great guitar.Try it out.

  • @fendermac ok thanks, I have the money now so I'll do some more research and then If I cant find a reason not t but one I'm going to get one

  • That was so cool! nice playing.

  • @bnbfalcon ...You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Great playing and sound!

    Whats the amp? Any pedals?

  • @PF1964 ...Boogie MkIV - Nope!No pedals.Thanks..

  • You sound exactly like Clapton:)

  • @AdamVBG ...I'm surprised to hear you say that but I take it as a great compliment.Thank you.

  • @fendermac And by that I meant your voice, which I hope you consider to be a compliment aswell..:)

  • @AdamVBG ...I can't really judge how my own voice might sound but I will certainly take it as a compliment if that's how it's meant.Thank you

  • I bought one and gigged it the same day!!

Brilliant.. if a bit twangy after my usual SG...Thanks for your videos!

  • @bsrobinson ..Thanks for those kind words.Twangy indeed! - glad you're enjoying it.

  • It is not all nonsense! It's a reason for living!! Love it.. Thanks for the great videos!

  • @bsrobinson ...You're very kind.Thank YOU...

  • Very good performance.

  • @LychkovIA ...Thanks very much.

  • don't usually comment but I really appreciate your phrasing. not just wanking away with too many note. thanks. really sounds soulful and sweet.

  • "You know you shook, me ba-aby!"

Nice guitar and playin, very nice

  • @lighteningboy ...Too kind.Thank you.

  • @fendermac Are you from northwest England?

  • Love it Paul!!

  • @daviemcf ...Thanks ever so..I wish I could've kept it.

  • Fantastic - love the riffs and tone for sure !!!

  • @lespaul72 ...Thank you - it's a Boogie MkIV

  • @MyLesPaulcopy ...Thank you.

  • nice, threw in a zeppelin riff in the beginning!

  • @bancifaill ...It'd be rude not to.Lol...Thanks.

  • Real nice.

  • @YARBLES1969 ...Thank you kindly

  • nice

  • @stratcatism ...Thanks

  • Hello Fendermac !

You are a GREAT Guitar-Player I Like to listen yours videos Like to listen Blues

  • @themanman42 ...You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Nice playing,

could you do me a favor and tell me what the difference is with a road worn 50's tele, and a classic 50's tele? I love this sound but don't like the worn spots.

  • @CaptainP00face ...Thanks!

I'm afraid I have no experience of the other guitar you're interested in so I can't really pass comment.

  • Nice playin'! I already have the RW 60s Strat in Olympic White, but the local small town music shop still has a sunburst RW Tele that's calling me- it's the necks that get me. I played it and then played a brand new American Tele that was probably twice the price- no comparison, the RW was just so comfortable and sounded great.

  • @dsydorko ...Lack of work and money forced me to sell but I would buy Roadworn again for sure.i loved it...

  • damn. Awesome.

  • @tiruretagoyenao ...Thank you kindly

  • Awesome...I didn't know John Cleese played guitar....right....carry on then....

  • @MTLFAN11 ...sorry to have to tell you you're not the first to say it.First for a long time though. Thanks ffor dropping by.

  • fake

  • @paulstearne ...ok

  • Very good!

    Made my afternoon :-P

  • @2fat2die ...That's nice to hear.Thank you

  • great playing... great guitar... i wish i have one of your guitars.. hehehe

  • @wavedredrabbit ...thank you

  • Wonderful playing! Thank you so much!!

I'm 53 and I want to learn to play the guitar. Is there any hope? :)

  • @Bottomtime ...Thanks very much...and yes! of course there is.If you realise early that you'll always be yourself you can acheive a lot and have great fun.You won't be (insert famous name here) of course but who needs that.Go for it say I

  • @Bottomtime Good luck if you want to try this : it 'll take you at least some 20 years.

fendermac seems to play effordlesly but has great techniques; harmonics, stops, muting notes, bending, slides and what not...Not to mention knowledge of mixing scales, phrasing and last but not least creativity...Keep me posted anyhow!

  • @mymindisclearernow ....Wow! Thanks for those kind words about me.I do think that anyone who feels moved to play should be encouraged to start though and I firmly believe that it's never too late.I hope Bottomtime will go with his inclinations and keep us both posted.

  • @mymindisclearernow - It doesn't take 20 years to play like this. It is wonderful playing, mature beautiful lines. If you listening to playing like this and develop your ear and playing around it you will be able to play incrediably well in a few years.

Go for it Bottomtime. You won't regret it.

  • Love that You Shook Me piece on the beginning. wonderful phrasing and playing...

  • @gbsnp123 ...You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Nice tone, and playing. I'd pay to hear you play live.

  • @gniw56 ....And heaven knows I need the money.Lol......You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Love your playing and love your accent, why is there no brits like you to jam with here in Sweden? :-)

  • @richardsmamma ...Thanks for those kind words.I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question though...

  • @richardsmamma Couldn't agree more! We need guys like you overe here, and play some of that REAL music! :)

  • This is great! So much feeling! I keep coming back to this video whenever I want to remind myself of how a tele should sound! Hell of a nice guitar you got there! I hope you enjoyed playing it as much as I enjoyed watching it! cheers.

  • @qwecars ...You're very kind .Thank you.I do very much enjoy this guitar.

  • Nice touch!

  • @rcdmichel ...Thank you.

  • Great playing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers from sweden

  • @snoffess ...You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Whew, that was nice. Your playing reminds me of a Nashville area blues guitarist named Jack Pearson. He has some YouTube videos up if you search under his name.

What's the neck profile like on the Tele? Someone in another video said it was a soft V. Is that true?

  • @1Doz ..I don't hear me in him but thanks - he's great.I don't really get the soft v thing. The neck is a nice handful and the best thing is the lack of finish on the back. You must try one.

  • @fendermac

Yes it depends on which video and which song he's playing. If he's doing a slow blues with straightforward blues licks, I think I hear a resemblance. If he's doing his warp speed chromatic and jazz stuff, less so. There's about a minute in your video, from 2:44 to 3:44 or so, that is to my ears very reminiscent of Pearson in slow burn mode.

  • haha ! love the british touch to your movie! great playing sir!

  • @Anorag ....Thank you very much.

  • U ARE USELESS

  • @vinnothelizard ....Hahahahahahahaha...thanks so much

  • @vinnothelizard now that was just uncalled for you better have a dam good reason to mean that silly!

  • @Dylan41292 ...I visited his channel and I think he's a bit of a sad case,probably best ignored but I appreciate the defence.Thank you.

  • @fendermac yeah the guys a douchebag, you're one hell of a player man. I do this all the time just jamming to blues tracks. I need to get around to uploading the only stuff I have is ages old that I found kicking around the comp and decided to upload for fun, keep on rocking

  • @chrismortloch92 ...Thank you kindly.

  • @vinnothelizard Get a life man !

  • @vinnothelizard Oh, and I find trolls soooo useful! Why don't you come to my party this Friday? We all need a bitch! I think you'll be VERY useful!

  • sounds great , would love to here a bit of reverb with it , lol

  • @johnybb2000 ....Thanks very much....There is a touch of reverb on the amp but I like it dryish I must say.

  • i have just one word no more than that, may be two and that is enough, first awsome!!!

    second beautiful!!

  • @SirHacker666 ....Thanks so much for those kind words

  • Stunning feel, matey!

  • @samerics ...thanks very much indeed

  • wow!

  • @mymindisclearernow ....Thank you

  • And that, my friend, is what a Tele should sound like! What a great video, even a year later! Hah! I love my Road Worn 50's Tele but could do with you flying over the pond to play the damned thing for me! ;)

  • .Lol...I think if you love it,that's enough. Thanks for the kind words

  • great job dude :-D

  • Thank you kindly

  • Nice tone - what are you playing this through - the Boogie MK IV?

  • Thanks...yup-the Boogie

  • great phrasing, love the tele.

  • Thanks very much

  • I love your accent! :D

  • Thanks...

  • Some say that playin' is better than fuckin'.

    I believe it's true.

  • I think the secret is to love what you're doing while you're doing it.

  • How do you find the worn series?

I tried all of them but still i think they sound somehow artificial.
