AK in 3 way action will never just check...especially in position. You should've put at least 6 players in the hand to prove the point that limping in with AK can sometimes bite u in the azz.
This is an atypical scenario, for several reasons...
1. Rarely are you going to get a cheap look at the flop when the button and SB both have premium hands. The 2x button raise and SB smooth call imply that your opponents are major donks.
2. Flopping the double draw is also rare. People need lessons on the single draw, otherwise they'll keep calling bets despite awful odds.

I would only play 76s in late position.
