Africa has the highest level of genetic diversity of any continent, So there's always been a lot of variation in people's appearances from region to region. It doesn't mean you should consider yourself better than other Africans. I've met some very nice West Africans before and they never had anything negative to say about Somali people.

There were in some instances where the portugese did some business in East Africa with the existing empire in purchasing some slaves. Yes that includes Somalis as well. I understand your need identify with your heritage. Do you know what part of Africa you descend from? Like you mention in any earlier post, a lot of other Americans can identify with there ethinicity (Irish, German, Mexican etc) and have can connect with the language, customs etc.

There were in some instances where the portugese did some business in East Africa with the existing empire in purchasing some slaves. Yes that includes Somalis as well. Its located in Africa, and everybody living in Africa is called an African, just like everybody in any country of Asia is called "Asian".
