Ah I so love it. You've done that all on your own, haven't you? Meaning, there was no guy who filmed you, right? This is so bloody cool. I really want to that myself. But I'm afraid I still have to learn so much more (about camera angles, lighting and stuff). But I take your videos as an inspiration and you as an example. *gg*
I love it! So when are you gonna post some Lear and Caesar? It would be great if you made a whole film of Hamlet. You could do it justice with your techniques. Good job! I can't wait for more Shakespeare from you!
This is a rare find that only youtube can provide. It's nice to see Shakespeare adapted for film without the temptation to bring in million dollar budgets. This is simple in its' complexities, always one of my favorite things in film. Also, could you tell me the name of the first song? Thanks.
looks great. music works. Just the monlogue, remember why a soliloquy was written. The whole thing is delivered to the audience to create a response from them or just to confide. To be or not to be?....(anyone) that is the question.how many people do you see walking around or hear on there own or have ever heard talking something over to themselves, we do this on our own in our head, the most private place ever. But the theatrical form of is to have the thoughts out with the people sat there.
I had a few comments. Using "Crazy" might be too obvious since we know the nature of the play, it looks like you tried too hard. Try one theme with the music - choral OR modern - both make viewers see lack of consistancy. Although good, your acting could use more emotion. Try hard breaths before putting the gun in your mouth and since your eyes aren't too expressive in the end you need to learn to use them more. Keep them wider, like you're going mad, realizing what you were just about to do...
My two critiques: quiet the music that starts playing at 2:31, because it is hard to hear you over it; and at 6:58 when you go to light the cig, I think your hand should be more shakey (sp).
Good idea on the shaky hand. Wished I'd thought of it at the time. Thank you. As for the music, that's sometimes unavoidable because the soundtrack is always mixed in stereo but youtube compresses it to mono. That sometimes causes some sounds to come out louder than others.
I'll be frank, I didn't expect much but you acted out this soliloquy wonderfully! I'm reading Hamlet for the first time and I just love how you put it all into a modern day context and perspective. Just goes to show how Shakespeare's very words still resonate outside of the classroom- and can be applied to the everyday instances we unknowlingly encounter and never dare question. You were fantastic!
Wow. Your a great actor. I'm just learning a bit of Hamlet for my gcse, and I think the music really helps me grasp the concept you going for. Thanks!
I like the colours of this Hamlet-interpretation because of this green tint. It makes a dark atmosphere and for the people who read Hamlet it can be also interpretated as the poison that not only killed the king but also infected the mind of Hamlet. That's cool, and the last scenes are also pretty cool in combination with Johnny Cash.
I am a year 10 student living in Australia. Currently in drama we are studying shakespeare and I have been set the task of designing a set for Hamlet. I have to choose a scene and an original setting / time period. Your video is excellent and your take on Hamlet very original. I enjoyed it a lot. You are a fantastic actor and I will definitely be subscribing soon! Thanks for the video and good luck in the future!
Nice work Ken, a nice interpretation. And you're acting (and the music, probably too) partially helped me understand the Shakespeare language, of which I never got my head around too well.
I love it! it was amazing piece.
where did you get the soundtrack during the actual soliloquy from?
