It was actually IL62M made in Soviet Union but idea, project of a british VC-10 plane has been stolen by russian engineers. Thats why both planes looks identical. Unfortunately IL62 had worse security systems. For example no doubled mechanical and electrical systems. Explosion of second engine cut electrical and fuel wires so pilots had very limited control of a plane.

Pilot powinien lądować mimo pełnych zbiorników paliwa, wiatru czy innych wytycznych.
Na pasie były wieksze szanse do uratowania choćby części pasażerów.
A to że pilot nie zginął nie oznacza, że jest niewinny - skończ Kaczyzować jego śmierć.

yes, they are built to strict guidelines but not in Soviet Russia. In this particular case, a very serious negligence took place in the process of manufacturing the engines. Maintenance had nothing to do with this accident. (Even if it had, it would still have been the soviets' foult as the engines were maintained only in Russia.)
The negligent and unacceptable manufacture of the engines for this plane was the main couse of this accident. If you think otherwise, read a bit more!
@dogshagga2 I have a 33 yr old lada still going strong into its 3rd time round the clock (in miles). It's very well made. The IL-62 is actually a safe aircraft with 9 crashes over 48 years (the only fatal incident since 1989 was an Iranian overun which was pilot error). In the LOT case, the crew were not allowed to land the plane at Gdansk or Modlln (I don't know why) so they turned around to get back to Warsaw by which time fire destroyed the tail section.
@av21031 They were allowed & Cleared to land in Modlin but the F.O & Eng convinced the Captain to go to W instead, and it was a terrible mistake, as the Captain was right..Modllin was the place to land and save all these lives R.I.P.
@SoniaNajar Thanks for the information. I've heard various versions of what happened but yes, noone would have died had they landed at Modlin (or Gdansk). LOT planes had extra fuel tanks fitted in the tail for long distance flights (Poland to US) and it appears to have been one of these that ignited. I'm not sure that the fire retardent systems would/could have even worked on such tanks and LOT removed them from their other planes after this accident.

I understand how this video IS VERY disturbing. Most likely the publication of human remains was not warranted, out of respect for the loved ones left behind. Regardless, I find this one of the most moving tributes to have been broadcast on YouTube, and ALL of the images, be they of candles or people waving good-bye, along with the music, really strike an emotional cord.

Russians designs are crude and not pleasing to eyes, but still very good. Some time ago, Blue Angels were trying russian Mig29s, and they were shocked as to how good those planes were.

My cousins in Poland told me that during 9/11 they showed bodies being pulled out of the rubble and stuff. Different cultures have different views on death and the publication of human remains. What might be considered insensitive and disturbing in the US is acceptable and not at all disrespectful in other countries. Mexico films and publishes photos of human remains frequently. Just because your people thinks it is wrong doesn't mean it is so. Just a tribute from another person with a different culture and worldview.

Thank you, As I said both brothers were on that plane one was never found, the other, only his hand was recovered. I found watching the video very sad. The need to show body parts was not needed. I watched the video at least 30 times, and although it hurts to see what happened, I'm happy to see that there are still some people out there that care.

Zresztą pilot nie jest niczemu winny - podjął złą decyzje...
Winni obu katastrof polskich samolotów byli Rosjanie, którzy z łożyska tocznego zrobili ślizgowe - przez co doszło do awarii silnika.

I understand how this video IS VERY disturbing. Most likely the publication of human remains was not warranted, out of respect for the loved ones left behind. Regardless, I find this one of the most moving tributes to have been broadcast on YouTube, and ALL of the images, be they of candles or people waving good-bye, along with the music, really strike an emotional cord.

@Flyglobespan93 That's not true - it shows how little you know about it. Actually, more western airplanes had crashes than those of russians. Russians designs are crude and not pleasing to eyes, but still very good. Some time ago, Blue Angels were trying russian Mig29s, and they were shocked as to how good those planes were.

Yeah its real Polish TV as well as all the other countries in the world DO NOT CENSOR any programming on TV. My cousins in Poland told me that during 9/11 they showed bodies being pulled out of the rubble and stuff. Back to this video my aunt and uncle were supposed to be on this flight, but luckily they missed it by 20 mins.

i lost no one in this plane crash, nor did i know anyone on it, but i thank you for this video, i never knew of this incident until i watched this video. i am sorry for your lose and i think your posting this Tribute is totally appropriate because it is what happened and the imagines speak for them self's. perhaps it can begin your closing process of this incident in your mind, since there was and is nothing else you can do.

what a stupid aircraft, if one engine dangerously malfunctions it can easily take the other engines with it, as well as the vertical stabilizer and all the hydraulic fluid. It seems like most fatal plane crashes could be prevented if you have a plane that just keeps the engines away from the vertical stabilizer and hydraulic lines.

You must be in an other world ... I never said that the news shouldn't report plane crashes or any other disaster for that fact. I SAID .......... Showing peoples bodies that are burnt and dismembered, show a lack of compassion toward the remaining family members. However, you never did respond, did you lose anyone on this flight ? If you did then you might understand and be able to relate.

Different cultures have different views on death and the publication of human remains. What might be considered insensitive and disturbing in the US is acceptable and not at all disrespectful in other countries. Mexico films and publishes photos of human remains frequently. Just because your people thinks it is wrong doesn't mean it is so. Just a tribute from another person with a different culture and worldview.

Isn't a view or a culture, IT"S WRONG... Yes I'm Polish, and when a person dies, yes photos are taken for the family memory. But to show family images of burned and dismembered bodies ? Sorry I can't find that as acceptable.

Thank you for your comment. I lost both of my brothers on that plane. As for some of the other comments made from other people, like UnitedX360, well I can only pray that you never have to go through a day like that as I and the rest of our family did. 7 children left with no fathers.

Thank you, As I said both brothers were on that plane one was never found, the other, only his hand was recovered. I found watching the video very sad. The need to show body parts was not needed. I watched the video at least 30 times, and although it hurts to see what happened, I'm happy to see that there are still some people out there that care.
