I'm 11 years old and most people today make me so mad I could spit. Nobody wants to work hard, get up when they fall or keep trying 'till they find a win. My Dad always tells me the will to win means nothing. The will to prepare to win means everything.
I feel that all these comment on all the aspects of success are interesting but for a simple boy like me one thing is undeniable. One good idea in the correct place at the correct time can be worth millions and make you famous. Being the best at sports music or the arts is another story
Tinny, this is a direct contradiction of the liberal democrat policy. One must blame their failures on their circumstances. Are you crazy? A person can't blame themselves for their lack of initiative and discipline. It has to be someone else's fault. The government is there to change our circumstances so we can't fail!
Success in any field requires a higher level of skills than most in the field. That level of skill requires a tremendous amount of time. You won't get it unless you actively work on improving your skills, rather than just doing the same couple of things over and over again. There are other factors required to be a world class leader in a field. Being born at the right time, and in the right place are both required. A good book on the subject is "Outliers."
@deezynar Many studies show that motivation is the most important factor in success. This doesn't make other factors unimportant, but the motivated tend to succeed. Unfortunately, most institutions (Of any sort) don't teach motivation. The polar opposite is "learned helplessness" (the technical definition is the same as the intuitive one). Some cross sections of society are better than others about teaching one or the other. In the end the motivated can succeed, but those who give up always fail
Yes, you are correct, motivation is a critical key to success. That's implied in the idea that you must put in huge amounts of time to get world class good at something. However, there is a big difference between being succesful at something and being a world class leader in a field. Motivation is crucial for both, but other factors that are beyond a person's control come into play for being world class. I encourage everyone to read the book, "Outliers."
BTW, many successful people failed in other fields before they got into the 1 that made them known. Sometimes they learned lessons in the failures that they used to make it in the next. Not everyone will succeed at everything they try, even if they pour themselves into it 100% for decades. Some endeavors are just DOA and the sooner a person sees that the better. The problem is that many successful endeavors looked DOA for a long time before they clicked. Luck is a factor.
