AWESOME! I love Carl Sagan's "Cosmos!" I can't believe 134 people disliked this. Must be narrow-minded, brainwashed religious zombies and people who lack any intelligence. My grandfather is in his 70's, and so is my grandmother, and they aren't the sweet kind, their the rich, smug kind, who think they know everything and are better than everyone else, because they think they are these "Super Christians." My grandparents ACTUALLY BELIEVE that the Earth is only a few thousand years old! LOL!
In less than one hundred years our true place in the universe has changed dramatically, in 1930 we discovered that there are other galaxies besides our milky way, we have detected organic molecules around other stars, in 1995 we finally discovered other planets around other stars, now we know about 500 of them, the more we learn about our universe, the more it seems that this universe was not made for us, and the less it seems that some unseen creator made this universe for us.
With almost 7 billion people on the planet currently and untold billions to come, it is a statistical certainty that there will be someone who approaches the greatness of Sagan.
I find it rather amusing that Jupiter's (named for the Greek god Zeus's Roman counterpart, whose signature was a lightning bolt) sides are streaked with lightning storms.
It's pretty sad that someone felt the need to votebot Cosmos videos. It just goes to show that an honest intellectual look at the world around us threatens some people's preconceived notions.
If there's anyone who know the tilte of the music used at the start of this vid, Please reply, I would love to get it. Perfect use here in haunting beauty and magesty.
This series was first broadcast in 1980, so well before the removal of Pluto's planetary status.
The show is still really good though, scientific updates notwithstanding. Sagan deals with quite a few philosophical and biological conundrums, as well as going back in history to look at the people who started those sciences, too. Highly recommended :D
Cosmos tended to cover the big ideas and concepts in science, which have been pretty robust for several decades, as opposed to the little details which are constantly changing - like Pluto's status. There are a few things out of date, and a lot of information we've learned since then feels missing, but even so the most dated thing about Cosmos is still Carl Sagan's turtlenecks. :)
Good Video.. Thanks..

Quite how anyone could votebot something like Cosmos, is completely beyond me.
What kind of blinkered, frightened, short sighted, brainwashed, imbecile would do such a thing.
Mind you what kind of intellectually and morally bankrupt person would do something like votebot, in the first place.

It was a votebot. The cowards can't make a point themselves, so they must try and bury all opposition.
