I was in Ireland one cold rainy night about 15 years ago and I heard the clop clop clop of horses hooves in the middle of the night. I raised up to peer out the window and saw a Gypsy caravan going past. It was so wild and eerie in the cold rainy night that it gave me chills.. I guess it was a feeling that I was witnessing something out of the distant past.. utterly fascinating!..

These caravans (I've always known them as travel trailers in the US) are amazing. The ones my parents had were very plain compared to these. Some of my best memories are when we were traveling or just camping out. Thank you for sharing these :)

i love the old caravans so cosy with the real fire in the stove. i used to love caravan holidays in my childhood in the 60s and 70s on the sites in the old pembertons/bluebirds with the gas lights pull down beds coal stoves and 2 ring gas cooker cornerways in the kitchen. There was always that smell when you first let yourself in! The one van we stayed in had a hot water tank heated as the stove pipe passed through it

These caravans (I've always known them as travel trailers in the US) are amazing. The ones my parents had were very plain compared to these. Some of my best memories are when we were traveling or just camping out. Thank you for sharing these :)

i grew up with gitan in south of france, they gave my mum a job looking after the poneys, my dad court TB working in tip and was jobless. i love the old caravans so cosy with the real fire in the stove. i used to love caravan holidays in my childhood in the 60s and 70s on the sites in the old pembertons/bluebirds with the gas lights pull down beds coal stoves and 2 ring gas cooker cornerways in the kitchen. There was always that smell when you first let yourself in! The one van we stayed in had a hot water tank heated as the stove pipe passed through it
