Who would expect a somewhat professional organisation to humiliate their competitors just to seek more attention? Sorry NAB but I just don't buy it, in fact, I think it is childish and disrespectful.
Fact:
Quote from your break up letter: "At least I'm trying to be a better bank for my customers"
You say you have changed, but so have I. I own a good business now. I earn in excess of $4000 a week and, yes you guessed it, I can buy my little daughter's medication on time, all the time. But you had to make it difficult for me, you hurt me when you call me now and ask me politely if I am interested in a Term Deposit. I would like to, but how can I after all we've been through? You just don't play fair.
Therefore, I have no option but to say farewell -- Goodbye.
I found out that you were having it on with the rich business guys to whom you were giving all the overdrafts and advances. I felt cheated.. I mean, after all, it was me who worked hard and long to earn wages to keep with you as deposits. I know it wasn't much, but it was all I had.
This is really difficult comment for me to write, but I think you need the feedback, and why not! - you're entitled to it.
Recently, I have been feeling like I'm abandoned, misunderstood, mistreated and, more importantly, mis-trusted. Specially that day when I rang you and asked for a small $90 advance so that I can buy medicine for my little girl 4 days before my pay was to go in my account, but you said you couldn't. You know, I kind of understood and took what you said until...
WTF?! I can't find a functional nab bank when I need it most. -_- Please don't be so hypocritical and practice what you preach. Install more nab atms and make them WORK.
WTF?! I can't find a functional nab bank when I need it most. -_- Please don't be so hypocritical and practice what you preach. Install more nab atms and make them WORK.
If you really want people to believe that you are different from the other banks then you must prove it by being significantly different. Not marginally, SIGNIFICANTLY.
If you neglect to take this approach your actions will be perceived as nothing more than a typical bank scam.
As the ancient saying goes "You shall know them by their fruit."
What a load of garbage nab has a long way to go to get any brownie points. In the early 2000's when many farmers where in drought they cleansed their books of rural lending - exit farmers. We remember
Technical stuff up leaving clients without access to pay for a week, and careless disposal of clients sensitive data in skip bins...yeah i'll be breaking up with you too!
I am joining NAB from CBA as a protest over the .45 points increase in their interest rates late last year , nearly doubling the RBA increase.. they have a hide to do this and think customers will forget, not me. I am voting with my feet.
If you want to get ahead .. don't bank with a bank!
What the banks have been offering - sweet talking their customers, I have been enjoying for more than a decade from my local - member owned, equally underwritten, secure credit union.
I pay verrry low fees, and they are the only Australian bank (I've seen) that has an ATM in Bali. Several in-fact.
Yes, they do group ATMs together in Australia, but it cuts down the wait.
Oh, not to mention they have the best online banking I've seen in comparison to my friends, the managers always have time to discuss what I want to know in-store and so many other benefits.
NAB is better than most, but I wouldn't change to it.
Hmmm only one comment? Looks like moderators have been busy. All this advert does is openly admit to people that NAB was in cohorts with the other banks. Why else would they be "breaking up" with them. No doubt this comment wont be approved ;)
They are still "one of the big four banks". Only their marketing department is trying a different 'stunt'. Time will pass and we still look upon them as "one of the big four banks.
Mostly true. Good on NAB for abolishing those annoying fees. To really win people over NAB should abolish the $2.00 fee that they charge to customers of *other* banks who use their ATM's (that would win them over some new customers I reckon).
However II hate it when I use my NAB card at another ATM and get slugged $2.00. I have to suffer this $2 indignity a lot more now since the my local NAB ATM got removed! (Albert Park, in December 2010)
NAB still has committments to their share holders. We will still see them turn over increased profits every year. They may drop variable interest rates, but they will recoup elsewhere, most likely staff cuts and big buisness fees.
You may have broken up with the other banks, but you will realise life was better with them and go crawling back, or you have a relationship behind everyones back, friends with benifits.

Look up Fractional Reserve Banking. Every dollar in circulatiuon has debt behind it. Money is created out of thin air by the banks and loaned out at interest. Boom and bust cycles as well as inflation are caused in large part by the banks control over the money supply. The biggest scam in human history.
But at least this Australian bank is trying to be nice to its customers now after decades of ripping them off blind with fees, which is quite nice of them and very emotionally moving LOL.
