musicians have to accept that the times have changed. once upon a time we got value for money when we bought a record. A nice cover and sleeve, a collectable item. we now get a junk product. a lousy bit of paper in a plastic box. music piracy began with the cassette. but even though we used to copy music for friends, it wasn't a big deal because if the music was good, we'd go out and buy the album. package the product in a way that makes buying the album worthwhile.
The middlemen are getting cut out everywhere in the entertainment industry: distributers, retailers, publishers, record companies... closing the gap between artist and consumer.
It's an unstoppable movement that people will just have to adapt to.
I don't buy games anymore. I play the ones that I already have and especially the ones I haven't finished. Like Might and Magic 8: Day of the Destroyer. I also download legal freeware games and media resources as well. One example being: Reiner's Tilesets. Very good site. =0) Another example of consumerist slaves: all those WoW players. They pay for the game and any expansions and then pay a monthly subscription rate to play online. O0!?? There are many free online games.
(1) aaarrrghhhh!, that be TRUE matey. But what is music priracy? Various views of what it is and what it ain't. (2) Agreed. (3) We survive! But tell all this to all the people affected and impacted with these hard economic times and have been laid off, unemployed, struggling to make ends meet, and even poor and homeless. As well as who have been bombarded and conditioned over the years by society, culture and mass media to be both the consumerist and citizen slaves. Walk the plank now. :p

1) People who steal are not consumers.
2) You do not have to pay every time the medium changes. You are legally allowed to copy your own music for personal use.
3) 90% of the people who are harmed in piracy are making very little money and just trying to survive.
3) Stealing is not part of economics. It's a destruction of economics.
4) Radio head could not have done what they did without having been established through the methods you condemn.
5) Stealing is wrong. No matter how you slice it.
